About this mod

A fully fledged combo / moveset mod for FFXVI, featuring directional input and more!

Changelogs
FFXVI has a beautiful combat system, don't you think? It gives so many players inspiration to craft incredibly stylish combos.
Logos Unleashed aims to expand even more the possibilities in combat, making use of real time database editing through Nenkai's FFXVI Framework.

Featuring directional attacks and special attacks, bringing new tech to FFXVI's combat system.

This mod was built with the intention of it being fully modular, and easily editable. Database modifications have been mostly applied with precise criteria, allowing anyone to make their own edits of the mod without having to even see the code behind it.

The controller input system works through XInput, so if your controller doesn't support it natively, you might have to use an emulator, such as Steam Input. For example, I use a DualSense, and it required absolutely no setup because Steam Input was already enabled for FFXVI.
If you own the game on EGS, you can add the game to your Steam library as a non-steam application, or use a different XInput emulator, such as X360CE.

The keyboard input system works through a global key interceptor, which means that the game is going to read inputs even when it's unfocused. This shouldn't be a problem, but keep in mind that the system itself is quite experimental, and I haven't put much thought in selecting the keybinds. Any feedback on the system or keybinds is greatly appreciated!

Keyboard input is disabled by default. If you want to make use of it, make sure to enable it in Reloaded-II mod configuration!

Directional attacks work by reading the absolute Y Axis of the left stick, meaning they are independent the the enemy's position or the player camera, and they can be executed even when not locked on to a target.

INSTALLATION:
1) Install FFXVI Mod Loader and FFXVI Mod Framework.
2) Install Logos Unleashed as any other Reloaded-II mod, by drag and drop.
3) Always launch the game through Reloaded-II, else the mod will not work properly!

MAKE SURE THE GAME'S TEXT LANGUAGE MATCHES YOUR SYSTEM'S REGIONAL FORMAT
For example, if you want to play in English, you need to set your regional format to an English one, such as "English (World)"

KNOWN ISSUES:
-Leviathan's custom abilities don't show the serpent's head on Clive's left arm during execution.
-Keyboard input is rough overall, and could probably be implemented better.
-Odin is OP. Not sure whether to address this, as he's still pretty fun to use, unless you exploit him.
-Air Shift Wave only works correctly if you have mastered Phoenix Shift
-Air Mirage only works correctly if you have mastered Downthrust

REGARDING CONTROLS:
On keyboard every mention of R2 / RT equals the CapsLock key;
Up is W, Down is S.
Custom gamepad rebinding was added in 1.0.1, custom keyboard rebinding was added in 1.1.0.

LOGOS UNLEASHED 2.0.0 - Beta 1

PROGRESSION
The mod's commands have been integrated in the progression, making each move only performable once the respective skill has been mastered in the skill tree

The skill tree still looks the same, but mastering an existing vanilla ability, such as Heatwave, will unlock the corresponding - if existing - modded command, Shift Wave

Other examples are: Arm of Darkness -> Dark Parry, Gungnir -> Dark Juggle, Ice Age -> Blizzaga, Thunderstorm -> Blind Storm

Every single command ability in the mod now requires the corresponding skill to be mastered

Please note this does not affect other types of actions, such as Combo Finishers, for now

AIR LUNGE
There's a new upgrade level for Lunge, which will unlock a new version of Air Lunge

This version chains the forward charge into a Garuda move that keeps you in the air. You can Stomp out of the Garuda move

This effectively allows Air Lunge to be much more versatile for air combos

Air Lunge also has a small upward momentum, which keeps you in the air during the forward charge

COMBO FINISHERS

Dark Finisher (L3 + Attack II) is now a Dark Lunge which chains into a chain slash

Gouge Finisher's third attack is now replaced with a Gambit move, which puts Clive in the air

Slash and Punch has been replaced with a new move. This one is work in progress. At the moment it casts rank 1 Thunderstorm. I plan on making the staff spin chain
into a short Gigaflare

New finisher: after performing a parry, you can perform a counter attack which behaves like the Slash and Punch finisher did. To perform, press combo finisher +
attack after a parry. Must be in LB mode, but you can always activate it right after the parry momentarily

Other finishers are the same as before

EIKONS - MOSTLY COMPLETED

PHOENIX

Shift Wave can now charged to perform what used to be the airborne version

By default, you will perform what used to be the ground version, even in the air

You can cancel the charge with Reflex, a new command bound to the Jump button which will perform a rank 1 Heatwave, with magic-dispelling capabilities

1 second cooldown added

SHIVA

Blizzaga no longer cancels current actions

On the ground, it now must be charged for a slow amount of time

In the air, it will now perform rank 1 Mesmerize

Cooldown reduced from 3 to 2 seconds

New magic spell: Freeze

Press combo finisher button (default: L3) + Blizzard to cast Freeze, which causes the targeted enemy to freeze, duh

Same properties as the Cold Snap short freeze

RAMUH

New magic spells: Blind Exact, Thundaga

Press combo finisher + Thunder to cast Blind Exact, which shoots a pair of Exact lightning bombs at the target

As with normal Exact, you can then detonate the bombs with the Eikonic Feat button

Press combo finisher + Thundara to cast Thundaga, which summons a strong lightning bolt on the target

ODIN

The old Flash of Steel is now replaced with a powered up version

Perform two rapid space-bending dark slashes in sequence at the enemy, going back and forth

This version of Flash of Steel has 2 seconds of cooldown

The old Flash of Steel can still be performed by leaving Heaven's Cloud upgraded instead of mastered

ULTIMA

New spells: Aether Ray, Aether Lance

Press combo finisher + Ruin to cast Aether Ray, which shoots a stream of pure energy at the target

Aether Ray deals more damage than Ruin and has more juggling capabilities. Try to integrate it in your combos!

Press combo finisher + Ruinra to cast Aether Lance, which causes a double eruption of many divine lances around the target

Ascension is now performed with special attack button (default: R2) + Eikonic Feat.

When mastered, you enter Ascension mode with the Rising Advent animation, which used to be the old Luminous Advent skill from Bahamut

EIKONS - WORK IN PROGRESS

BAHAMUT

Luminous Advent has been removed

Megaflare has been completely overhauled

Activating Megaflare in the air will keep Clive afloat

Pressing special attack + Megaflare Dodge will make the dodge's dash go farther

Megaflare Cancel has been replaced with Heavensward, which launches Clive forward and into the air

After performing Heavensward, Clive will continue to fly upwards until he reaches the top of the map

Pressing L3 + Heavensward will instead perform Earthbound, which deactivates Megaflare mode and lets Clive fall to the ground

You can alternate between Heavensward and Earthbound to move fast across the battlefield (or even the whole map) and reach your desired altitude

This is still just a concept, I plan on adding more attacks to Megaflare mode and making Bahamut the true king of air assault combat style. Send your feedback on the
matter!

TITAN

Titan is still held back by its Titanic Block action taking priority on any other command I try assigning to his Eikonic Feat command input

At the moment, holding special attack will make a new command, Titanic Gambit, show up in the command guide

I plan on making this command a very risky parry move, which leaves you vulnerable when pressed too early.

Timing it right, though, will allow you to perform a free fully charged Titanic Fist with Attack input, or fully charged Upheaval with Jump input

LOGOS MODE

Ultima's default Eikonic Feat is now Logos, an action which unlocks a whole new combat mode with advanced moves and combo strings

You can access Logos mode with either the standard Logos action or Logos Shift (Up + O) or Logos Embrace (Down + O), which act same as Phoenix Shift and Deadly
Embrace

Once in Logos mode, your Eikonic Feat will change to Mythos, a command which behaves exactly as Logos, and puts you out of Logos mode.

Logos and Mythos work exactly like Rift Slip, except there's no cooldown. I'd love to change their VFX in the future

Inside Logos Mode, you can perform Phoenix Shift and Deadly Embrace freely with Up / Down + O, or Titanic Block With special attack + Dodge (can't hold it, perfect
block only)

You can access Ultima's new magic spells - Aether Ray and Aether Lance - in Logos mode as well

Logos mode has a very modular combo string. Your performed attack changes depending on three factors: attack number in the combo (the combo string is 4 attacks,
4 magic bursts long, as always), directional input, whether you performed magic burst before the attack

If you magic burst every time with no directional input, you will perform Clive's base combo string, ending with Clive's LB fourth combo attack

If you don't magic burst before your second attack, you will perform Shift Strike, which will teleport you towards the enemy. You can magic burst after that Shift Strike
and continue your combo

If you don't magic burst before your third attack, you will perform a rapid chain slash, putting you behind your target

If you don't magic burst before your fourth attack, you will perform an Ultima finishing move.

Holding Down and attacking will make Clive perform sprint attacks for the first two attacks in the combo, precision strikes for the last two. To chain the precision strikes
properly, you have to magic burst between them.

Holding Up and attacking will make Clive perform a Lunge for the first two attacks in the combo, an EX Lunge finisher (without the forward charge) for the third, a chain
slash into gungnir cancel for the fourth.

Holding Down and magic bursting will make Clive perform normal Air Burning Blade

In the air, normal attacks are substituted with LB attacks

Magic bursting in the air will make Clive perform Gouge for a short amount of time

Holding Down and magic bursting in the air will make Clive perform a perfect Rook's Gambit downwards move

Holding Up and magic bursting in the air will make Clive perform the Odin glide attack (I know at least one person who I'm sure is happy about this)

Lunge in Logos mode is replaced with Gambit Rush, a LB Lunge which chains into a Rook's Gambit move, from which you can perform Stomp. This also replaces Air
Lunge

Downthrust in Logos mode is replaced with Drive Dive, a LB EX Downthrust which you can chain into Pile Drive by magic bursting

Burning Blade is replaced with Steel Counter (I'd like to add a "frame perfect" version in the future, behaving similarly to perfect Judgement Cut in DMC5)

Air Burning Blade is replaced with EX Burning Blade, a new move which chains three Air Burning Blades together with extra upward momentum, inspired by Nero's EX
High Roller in DMC5

Magic and Charged Magic currently work the same, although in the previous dev builds of the mod it was replaced with some moves, such as Precision Ice Age and
Proselytize. It was also charged magic by default in the air.

On the combo finisher side, Clive in Logos mode can perform some of the normal combo finishers, including the new LB parry counter, Punch Finisher, Titanic Lift and
Attack IV finisher, plus two new combo finisher exclusive to Logos mode

Combo finisher + Attack II for Logos mode is a series of four chain slashes chaining into Gungnir cancel

Combo finisher + Attack III for Logos mode is a short Dancing Steel series of slashes chaining into Precision Upheaval

To perform combo finishers in Logos mode, you must NOT magic burst. This is a side effect of the magic burst system in the Logos combo string. You can perform the
Attack III finisher by double tapping Attack II while holding the combo finisher button, as well.

This is all that's included in Beta 1 for Logos mode. If you hold special attack, you should see an Ultimaza action taking the Eikonic Feat's place. This is WIP

Also, holding combo finisher in Logos mode will replace your current eikonic abilities with new ones, currently named Eikonic Gambit and Hammer and Anvil. These are
also WIP, and currently disabled

Eikonic Gambit will be a powerful and versatile counter move, very overkill as well

Hammer and Anvil was just the remains of my time testing how to give Clive some boss moves. I managed to make him perform the animation, nothing more. Expect

this ability to be renamed in the future

DUALSENSE SUPPORT, BETTER INPUT CAPTURE, DIRECTIONAL LOCK-ON MODE

This is still experimental. If you played with my Sprint Button mode, this is an improved implementation of that DualSense input system.

You can customize the system's polling rate in the mod configuration menu. I set it to 4 by default, but if you're using a DualSense Edge you can probably set it to 1. Do
not set to 0

Besides that, the game will no longer crash after disconnecting or reconnecting your controller (this happened for XInput support as well). Please note that, for now,
you'll have to "refresh" the system by entering and exiting the mod configuration menu to reconnect your controller.

Also, remember to update Sprint Button as well, otherwise your game will still crash when disconnecting your controller

The stuttering caused by having XInput support enabled without a connected XInput controller has also been fixed

The keyboard input system is also way smarter. It's still a global key interceptor, but I'm now confident in making it enabled by default

To conclude, there's a new mode in the mod configuration menu you can enable, which locks all directional inputs behind holding a customizable button. This is
supposed to be used alongside hold to lock-on, and bound on the same button as lock-on, to mimic DMC style directional inputs.

Please note directional inputs are still absolute, meaning there's absolutely no relation between them and Clive / target positioning

Thera are probably more updates / improvements made under the hood that I forgot about during these months.

2.0.0 will also include new VFX and in-game documentation for abilities through the Skill Tree.

For now, enjoy Beta 1 and share your feedback, if you like.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
OLD DESCRIPTION (PRE 2.0.0-b1):

As of 1.1.0, a new Combo Finisher system was added:
Press the dedicated keybind (default: L3 on gamepad, X on keyboard) and attack to perform a unique combo finisher
Performed action depends on last attack performed in the string. Most of the time you need to magic burst as well, before performing the finisher.

BASE / LB COMBO FINISHERS:

L3 + Attack I = Punch Finisher
Shortcut to the final attack in Titan's counter combo. Can launch enemies forward into the air.

L3 + Attack II = Dark Finisher
Shortcut to the Dark Lunge finisher. No need to magic burst to perform this one.

L3 + Attack III = Gouge Finisher
Shortcut to the final gouge chain in the Gouge ability.

L3 + Attack IV = Slash and Punch
Perform the "Slash and Punch" execution anytime! Launch smaller enemies in the air and throw them away.
Seems to stun larger enemies briefly. New tech, perhaps? ;)

L3 + Air Attack I = Titanic Lift
Shortcut to the final attack in Titan's air counter combo. Propels Clive upwards, while slamming smaller enemies downwards.

L3 + Air Attack II = Dash Finisher
Shortcut to the second consecutive air Cold Snap. For some reason, it doesn't perform the small freeze mechanic, but it's still useful to reposition Clive.

L3 + Air Attack III = Shift Shot
Shortcut to Shift Shot. Directional inputs apply here, so you can perform Burning Lift or Ignition Finisher as well.

Below is a (hopefully) full list of what the mod adds to the game, as of v1.0.0:

BASE ACTIONS:

Up + (LB) Downthrust -> (LB) Air Lunge
Use Lunge while in the air! When in LB, Air Lunge will be LB as well!

R2 + Jump -> Dark Parry
Shortcut to the third attack in Odin's combo, now available in Clive's base moveset! Useful for performing Parries.
Execute while in the air to perform the fifth attack in Odin's combo instead, for that extra SSStylish flavor of variety!

R2 + Lunge -> Dark Juggle
Perform the Gungnir cancel anytime you want! Useful for launching smaller enemies in the air.

R2 + Dodge -> Hindsight Slash
Roll in the desired direction, then perform a slashing attack! Possesses a high number of Iframes, making it valuable to dodge attacks.

PHOENIX:

R2 + Phoenix Shift -> Shift Wave
Shortcut to the second Lvl 2 Heatwave miss attack. Shoot a projectile that dispels enemy magic projectiles it hits while travelling!
Execute in the air to perform the Lvl 2 Heatwave parry finisher attack instead, shooting two fiery projectiles in the shape of a cross.

Up + Shift Shot -> Burning Fist
Shortcut to the Ignition finisher punch. Throw the enemy forward with a fiery fist! Can be executed in the air.

Down + Shift Shot -> Burning Lift
Perform Air Burning Strike while on the ground instantly, without having to charge it, launching the enemy in the air.
Execute in the air to push the enemy downwards instead, throwing yourself to the ground along with your target.

GARUDA:

R2 + Deadly Embrace -> Deadly Gouge
Shortcut to the Gouge finisher. Launch the enemy forward with deadly claws! Can be executed in the air.

Up + Deadly Embrace -> Deadly Gambit
Shortcut to the Lvl 2 Rook's Gambit miss finisher. Propel the enemy in the air with deadly precision, and launch yourself airborne alongside! Can be executed in the air.

Down + Deadly Embrace -> Deadly Wheel
Perform Lvl 1 Wicked Wheel anytime! Can be executed in the air. 4s cooldown.

RAMUH:

R2 + Blind Justice -> Blind Storm
Perform Lvl 1 Thunderstorm anytime! Can be executed in the air.

Down + Blind Justice -> Blind Drive
Perform Lvl 1 Pile Drive anytime! Can be executed in the air. 4s cooldown.

TITAN:

No changes yet! :(
(Titan is harder to work with, as his Titanic Block action seems to override any other action I try assigning him)

BAHAMUT:

R2 + Wings of Light -> Luminous Advent
Ascend to the heavens, and bring the enemies surrounding you, while you're at it!
Perform Ultima's Rising Advent anytime! Can be executed in the air.
Activates Ascension mode. (This makes Ultima currently obsolete, but it will change in the future, once his own time to shine comes!)

SHIVA:

R2 + Cold Snap -> Blizzaga
Perform weak Ice Age anytime! Can be executed in the air. 3s cooldown.
Seems underpowered, however you can use it to instantly cancel any action, even Limit Break or Garuda's takedown!

ODIN:

R2 + Arm of Darkness -> Steel Finish
Perform Dancing Steel finisher anytime! Useful for quickly charging Zantetsuken. Can be executed in the air. 5s cooldown.
As with Blizzaga, this also cancels any action, although this one's slightly less convenient, unless you also cancel out of it through Rift Slip or Mirage (more details below!)

Up + Arm of Darkness -> Flash of Steel
Perform Flash of Steel (Odin dodge counter) anytime! Useful for getting behind enemies. Can be executed in the air.

Down + Arm of Darkness -> Mirage
Cancel out of your current action, slow down time and launch yourself in the air!
Execute in the air to teleport to the ground, ending with a powerful dark ground slam!
As with air Zantetsuken, you can Enemy Step out of the teleport.
The cancel will only happen when using Mirage on the ground, so that Rift Slip is still a viable ability to keep in your arsenal.

LEVIATHAN:

R2 + Serpent's Cry -> Serpent's Blast
Step forward and blast the enemies away from you! Can be executed in the air.

Up + Serpent's Cry -> Serpent's Launcher
Perform the Tidal Stream dodge counter anytime! Useful to launch multiple distant enemies airborne. Can be executed in the air.

Down + Serpent's Cry -> Serpent's Wisdom
Perform the Leviathan lunge (step back with triple grenade toss) anytime! Can be executed in the air.
This is useful to keep your foes away from you. You can easily follow up with Serpent's Launcher, or Serpent's Blast to step right back in the action.
Additionally, Serpent's Wisdom has a lot of Iframes, allowing you to easily dodge and step away from the enemy in a single maneuver.

ULTIMA:

No changes yet! :(

I'm still unsure what to give Ultima. His Ascension ability is now obsolete due to being included in Bahamut's moveset, so I need to find a way to make him REALLY interesting. The idea, for now, is to make him a display of Clive's true potential. You could say Ultima is going to be... Logos Unleashed! ;)
