About this mod

Restores low-level White Magic command for Ranger and Dark Knight (including versions to either replace existing abilities or give in addition to existing abilities).

This mod restores the original Famicom abilities of the Ranger and Dark Knight classes to cast White Magic levels 1-3 (barring the Aero spell). This means your Rangers and Dark Knights will be able to use Cure, Poisona, Sight, Toad, Mini, Cura, Teleport, and Blindna.

There are two versions of this mod:
  • the Replacer version, which removes the remake-added abilities of Barrage (Ranger) and Bladeblitz (Dark Knight) in favor of the White Magic ability (this is the version most true to the Famicom original);
  • the Added version, which gives the White Magic ability in addition to the PR vanilla abilities of Barrage and Bladeblitz.

Both versions of the mod add spell charges for levels 1-3 accurate to the Famicom originals, but they don't make any other changes to the vanilla PR stats for these jobs (such as increasing magic power). They also only add spell charges starting at level 10 for Ranger and level 15 for Dark Knight, as on the Famicom you couldn't switch to those jobs until hitting that minimum level (and thus there are no extant stats to work from below those levels!).

Note: If using the Replacer version, you will want to make sure to change any characters out of either Ranger or Dark Knight class before installing the mod. If you install the mod with those characters using the vanilla versions of the jobs, the game won't know to remove the Barrage/Bladeblitz abilities when you switch out of them, and thus will leave them in addition to White Magic or other class abilities. Similarly, if you choose to uninstall the mod, you'll want to move any characters out of the mod-changed Ranger or Dark Knight classes first; otherwise they won't automatically remove the Magic command when changing jobs, and you'll have an unusable Magic command (though at least in this case, theoretically you should be able to remove it by switching into White Mage/Devout and back out, which will remove the White Magic version of the Magic command).

Installation instructions:
This mod requires Magicite. You'll want to unzip your chosen version into your Magicite mod directory.
