About this mod
This mod introduces Japanese as the primary language of Wutai. Since Yuffie is from Wutai, she naturally speaks Japanese in some situations and English in others, depending on the context. The mod features full voice integration with a dual-subtitle system for seamless immersion. Supports all voiceovers/localizations and subtitles in all languages.

Why?
If Midgar represents the USA or Europe, then the Nibel region could evoke a Germanic atmosphere, Costa Del Sol feels distinctly Latin, and Wutai is unmistakably Japan/China/East Asia. This mod brings authenticity to Wutai by making Japanese its primary language (because there is no Chinese or korean dubbing...). Since Yuffie is from Wutai, it feels natural for her native language to be Japanese, even though she speaks English fluently.
This mod is a direct follow-up to the 'Multicultural Midgar' mod for FF7RE.
What does it do?
With this mod, Yuffie becomes bilingual—seamlessly switching between Japanese and English depending on the context. She speaks English when interacting with her companions, but when she's alone (or speaking directly to the player), expressing strong emotions, does not want to be understood or engaging with fellow Wutai residents, she naturally speaks Japanese. There are a few dialogues mixing Japanese and English. For now, very few, but I would like to add more later. Yuffie's reaction noises, grunts, and breath sounds are also sourced from the Japanese localization.
This linguistic shift adds depth to her character and enriches the atmosphere, especially with the dual subtitle system ensuring full immersion. The dialogue box has been adjusted for better readability.

Subtitles/Dualsubtitles are available in english, brazilian portuguese, traditional chinese, german, spanish, french, italian, korean, mexican spanish and simplified chinese.
What should I download?
In the main files, you have the mod itself, Bilingual Yuffie.
In the optional files, you have an addon that displays subtitles only when they are dual, meaning only when they are not in English/your subtitle language. As in the demo video.
In misccellaneous files, you can find a special version just for the weebs (and his addon)! It's a version with Yuffie speaking Japanese all the time.
Installation:
For a Vortex install = the files are Vortex-compatible, just download and deploy. The "Dualsubtitles only addon" must be load before the main file. Dont forget to change your load order.
For a manual install = place the 3 files into the game's "~mods" folder, located in [install Directory]/End/Content/Paks/~mods (create your own if you dont have one). Same things for the addon.
Future Plans:
- Improved lip-sync for multilingual dialogue (For now, I can't edit the lipsync files the way I want)
- Add more dialogues mixing Japanese and English for Yuffie!
- Clone Yuffie's Japanese voice and convert English dialogues using this Japanese AI model (Currently, I've been training a Japanese voice model for Yuffie using extensive data from both FF7 Remake Intergrade and FF7 Rebirth, with numerous training cycles. However, I'm not yet achieving the desired results. The wide range of emotions and variations in Yuffie's dialogues often lead to artifacts in the output. For now, I'm pausing this project until I can find a better approach).
