Mod is updated with new external loader system along with all my FFX mods. New setup allows external loader, ReShade and UnX to all work at the same time which is nice. Overall it's more stable and more performant!
Hi! in first place, I wanted to thank you for this mod C3Anderson, it looks gorgeous and I like it a lot. Secondly, I "had" the exact issue as the others below mention, that Wakka flicky face, so in order to fix the issue, (considering what mvk15 said) what I did was to rename all Wakka files, that's it, doing that, the issue is gone, and you're good to go. Have fun! :)
A small or maybe large update to my FFX mods is coming. I worked with a ffgriever from ffxii modding scene and they helped me find a way to mod the textures directly and side load them through their new mod for FFX. So soon I will have all of my textures, plus new ones I never released and some new ones I am working on now, working without needing Projectx. This will resolve ReShade forever and my textures will always load. No fuss.
Hi all, I too had the Wakka Mask glitch when only using this mod. I went into the texture render tools via the Project X (ctrl + shift + backspace) to find out which texture wasn't loading for wakka. For me, it was either the file that starts with FF or 666, it was not being inserted, the file being inserted for Wakkas body was named CE321F5D. I renamed the 8K wakka file FFetc to CE321F5D and the glitch went away. Will update if it comes back but after retesting several times, I believe this is the issue. The files are named wrong.
EDIT: This did not work. I coincidentally went into a decently long portion of the game that did not load that model in particular.
Thank you for all of your work these look great. As far as fixing the "Wakka Mask" problem, as some have said. Hold Ctrl+Shift+Backspace, about halfway down there will be a blue bar with Direct3D 11 Settings, drop it down and at the bottom where it says "Cache Size(GPU-shared memory)" you want to slide the bar up. Im not sure how much is necessary but it was instantly solved by pushing my own up to 3008. I am also using this mod alongside Better Textures mod so there should be zero issues with that conflicting. Hope this helps someone.
Not sure why but for me when I use these textures on what it seems is the low poly version the skin and body texture don't match at all. Looks like he's wearing a mask.
Could be only partially applying? Do you have a screenshot. I should be able to tell pretty quick what's going on if you have one you can link to or share.
I just tested on my end, all my mods seem to be working and appear as shown in the screenshots. So it's likely not a game update or anything like that.

For Wakka only the face textures are applying to the low poly models in those shots. Those body textures are not my HD versions, they look blurry but upscaled like those seen in the "Better texture" mod or maybe just vanilla.
For Yuna only the HD body is applying and we are seeing vanilla face.
So there is likely a conflict or Project X issue.
First thing to do is reinstall my texture mods. Make sure they overwrite whatever is in there. Always install the textures you want to see last since mods can overwrite each other.
Then check and see if it's resolved.
If it still is not working you'll need to check your project X setup. Make sure to use the latest version 9.1.something and for older mods like "Better Texture" mod, make sure that mod is installed into the "old" folder.
That should do it.
But again to explain what you are seeing, it's my HD faces combined with the "Better texture" mod or vanilla bodies. They stand out because in my HD body textures I tried really hard to match the High poly model textures so transitions would be less noticeable.

What I did essentially was uninstall and reinstall Project X, which I have the installer thingy I think its like 9.1.9.4 or something. Then I only installed your texture packs for Yuna, Wakka, and few other main party people. And it still was causing this problem. I never used Better Texture and once I noticed the problems I deleted all mods in folder and started over with only a couple of yours for testing, and it's still happening. So I'm kind of confused. SHould I get Better Textures? Or am I missing something. I even followed your video to make sure I wasn't just being dumb lol.
Had a similar problem in ffx-2. Fixed it by copying one of Wakka's face textures and renaming it to FF015FF7, since there was no existing injected texture for that hash and it was loading the default a low poly version i assume.
In case that exact hash doesn't work for you here's how i found out which one wasn't loading...
using the render mod tools, in the project x settings, (ctrl shift backspace ->direct3d 11 settings, render mod tools, live texture view), then pause on a screen with the messed up texture, then scrolling till i found which one was off (it blinks)
On a fresh install with only your textures C3Anderson I'm getting the same issue only with Wakka and Yuna.
I tried exploring with rendermod tools as mvk15 suggested, and the odd thing is, even though Wakka's body texture shares the same name as your file, it doesn't get injected for some reason, though the face does. I assume this is the same problem for Yuna but I haven't tested it yet.

EDIT 2: Upon further inspection using the dxgi.log it seems that the injector thinks the texture (as well as others) is corrupt for some reason, here's the snip from the log, I put bars between Wakka's texture specifically:

Hmmm this information is helpful, are you using 4k or 8k? I'm wondering if a memory limit is being hit triggering an error with the 8k.
I use these mods without the "better textures" mod since in my opinion the improvement vs memory usage for that mod is not worth the trade. So I have a theory that if using that large mod and my mods there may be some optimizations going on in project X as it tries to balance memory usage and prevent crashing. If 8k version is used it could be dropping it for that reason.
There are some settings in the project X to increase memory usage I think, maybe see if that helps. Or try lowering to 4k, or try not using "better textures mod". Again if you aren't using these and I don't know why else it would be happening.
Will give it a shot with some Project X memory settings and later, and again after with the 4k models, will let you know and share my specs, probably by Saturday (a bit busy the rest of this week). I am not using Better Textures though.
Will let you know how it goes, ideally the memory settings will lemme play with the 8k models since they look really nice, you've done a fantastic job with them :)
Excellent advice, thank you. I fixed the issue with Wakka's face texture this way. I wasn't sure which one of the face textures was the correct one, so I picked one from Wakka's 8k texture folder that looked like it fit the best. 666C7167 seemed to fit, so I copied it and renamed the copy to FF015FF7.
I'm having a problem with Wakka today. Yesterday he looked just fine, but today this is happening. Both his battle model (the first two images) and his field model (the last three) look like he's wearing one of those Egyptian death masks. I will go and repaste the files back into the proper folder, which sometimes corrects the issue temporarily before reverting right back to the Egyptian thing, and other times has to effect whatsoever. I am using Project X. Any advice?
Hmmm looks like Project X is loading the "Better Texture" mod in place of mine. Or just loading unmodded, hard to tell. But the body textures from my mod are not loading while the face is. The mismatch is because I worked to get the low poly textures to match the high poly and they were quite different in tone and detail. So it looks like a mask when they are not all loading.
I am quite disappointed in the stability of Project X over time. I don't know if it's Windows updates, or Project X updates without officially revealing it has? But Lately it seems to randomly drop textures or re-shade when it didn't use to. I haven't changed my files, so it's something on the greater software level memory management in either ProjectX or windows I'm not sure.
There is a chance it's just a conflict though. Try removing the better textures mod and see if it resolve?
Hello! I just wanted to let you know that I downloaded the 4K textures and they seem to have fixed this problem. I only used the 4K facial textures, though, keeping the 8K body textures. They seem to blend fairly seamlessly.
[EDIT] I spoke too soon. Just when I thought it was gone, it's back. I guess I'll try removing the better textures, but it really is a gamble every time I boot up the game.
I see that I am not the only one having problems with Project X. I don't have any other mod, only your textures. Used to work fine earlier this year, now all of a sudden your textures don't seem to work. With Wakka specifically there seems to be some sort of flicker happening to his face every few seconds that appears as if the textures get swapped for a milisecond, which almost looks like the mask issue in a different comment.
Are you aware of any way to get your textures to work again? I really love your work.
However, all other 8k assets in the above packs work fine, as does swapping out ONLY the above files with the 4k versions, so Tidus still has his pruddy eyes, and Wakka his sexy 8k face, but 4k body.
Steam Version, fully updated. Project X v 0.9.1.9 All Default settings (Also tried increasing cache size in Texture Management to 4gb).
I think this is project X trying to manage memory and dropping the 8k textures. I have a hard time with that program. i'm glad it exists but it behaves so random lately. I wonder if windows updates or driver updates are throwing it off? But there is a memory slider inside the project X menus that ca be increased and that should resolve the issue. Also make sure to no overlay software is running like MSI or fraps or anything like that, Project X behaves weird with those.
I've slowly worked my way through all of the tabs in Project X and the only memory slider I can find is under Direct3D 11 Settings > Texture Management > Cache Size (GPU Shared Memory) - which defaults to 2gb, and I doubled to 4gb during original testing which is more than enough to cache all of the 8k textures at the same time (just over 2gb).
I've also tried ONLY using one 8k texture pack and nothing else, but same result (blah blah blah is corrupted (HRESULT=80004005), skipping!) - HRESULT-80004005 is an unpecified error according to Microsoft's Windows Protocols (Or 0x8 Windows, 0x4 Interface Management, 0x5 E_FAULT) .... At this point I gave up investigating because well, I have absoultely no understanding of .dds or how the injection engine works (and what could cause that fault), so don't really know where to start.
I would ask if you've tried downloading the 8k rars from nexus, and compare the hash of one of the problem files with your known working ones, just to see if it could have been corrupted during compression/upload.
Apart from that, I'm stumped, but will happily follow any troubleshooting and provide any further information you need.

9.1.2 also works, but in between are some unstable versions. 9.1.9 works best for me.

I use these mods without the "better textures" mod since in my opinion the improvement vs memory usage for that mod is not worth the trade. So I have a theory that if using that large mod and my mods there may be some optimizations going on in project X as it tries to balance memory usage and prevent crashing. If 8k version is used it could be dropping it for that reason.
There are some settings in the project X to increase memory usage I think, maybe see if that helps. Or try lowering to 4k, or try not using "better textures mod". Again if you aren't using these and I don't know why else it would be happening.
Will let you know how it goes, ideally the memory settings will lemme play with the 8k models since they look really nice, you've done a fantastic job with them :)
It bothers me a llitle xD but still like the mod overall
I'm having a problem with Wakka today. Yesterday he looked just fine, but today this is happening. Both his battle model (the first two images) and his field model (the last three) look like he's wearing one of those Egyptian death masks. I will go and repaste the files back into the proper folder, which sometimes corrects the issue temporarily before reverting right back to the Egyptian thing, and other times has to effect whatsoever. I am using Project X. Any advice?
I am quite disappointed in the stability of Project X over time. I don't know if it's Windows updates, or Project X updates without officially revealing it has? But Lately it seems to randomly drop textures or re-shade when it didn't use to. I haven't changed my files, so it's something on the greater software level memory management in either ProjectX or windows I'm not sure.
There is a chance it's just a conflict though. Try removing the better textures mod and see if it resolve?
[EDIT] I spoke too soon. Just when I thought it was gone, it's back. I guess I'll try removing the better textures, but it really is a gamble every time I boot up the game.
Did not solve it either, must have been temporary, all the other 8k stuff works just wakka does not.
Are you aware of any way to get your textures to work again? I really love your work.

However, all other 8k assets in the above packs work fine, as does swapping out ONLY the above files with the 4k versions, so Tidus still has his pruddy eyes, and Wakka his sexy 8k face, but 4k body.

All Default settings (Also tried increasing cache size in Texture Management to 4gb).
I think this is project X trying to manage memory and dropping the 8k textures. I have a hard time with that program. i'm glad it exists but it behaves so random lately. I wonder if windows updates or driver updates are throwing it off? But there is a memory slider inside the project X menus that ca be increased and that should resolve the issue. Also make sure to no overlay software is running like MSI or fraps or anything like that, Project X behaves weird with those.
I've slowly worked my way through all of the tabs in Project X and the only memory slider I can find is under
Direct3D 11 Settings > Texture Management > Cache Size (GPU Shared Memory) - which defaults to 2gb, and I doubled to 4gb during original testing which is more than enough to cache all of the 8k textures at the same time (just over 2gb).
I've also tried ONLY using one 8k texture pack and nothing else, but same result (blah blah blah is corrupted (HRESULT=80004005), skipping!)
- HRESULT-80004005 is an unpecified error according to Microsoft's Windows Protocols (Or 0x8 Windows, 0x4 Interface Management, 0x5 E_FAULT) ....
At this point I gave up investigating because well, I have absoultely no understanding of .dds or how the injection engine works (and what could cause that fault), so don't really know where to start.
I would ask if you've tried downloading the 8k rars from nexus, and compare the hash of one of the problem files with your known working ones, just to see if it could have been corrupted during compression/upload.
Apart from that, I'm stumped, but will happily follow any troubleshooting and provide any further information you need.
