1.) STORY SKIPPING In Version 3.5 you will skip all the story cut scenes and bosses - First Quest: Bossbattle against Belgemine & Extractor
2.) BLITZBALL SURPRISES + BUG FIXING - Fixed a Ronso Player (Level 255>25) -Added a NEW SURPRISES (Lulu's Crest as Prize + much more to obtain via Blitzball)
3.) RIKKU'S NEW ABILITIES & CHANGES - Emblem of Fate removed > Flamethrower added - "Use" Water Pistol added
4.) CINDY BUFFED & CHANGED - more useful early game - now on Battle slot 1 to keep her (don't change her out in battle)
5.) OVERWORLD CHARACTER - changed to Rikku
ULTIMATE HARDCORE CHALLENGE MOD Version 3 - PATCH NOTES (UPDATED: 2020-09-15)
1.) BUG FIXING & BALANCING - Fixed a bug which caused Anima to be unobtainable because of temple treasure editing. > Requirements got lowered - Fixed a lot of New Game + / Story Round 2 bugs which caused soft / hard locks after starting tutorial fights - Rikku's wearing now her Wetsuit until her cutscene / introduction - Rikku's Overdrive "Mix" got balanced & reworked - Some of the surprises got removed because they were too mean & frustrating - Yojimbo 's Zanmatou removed
2.) BLITZBALL Since most of the time players used the reset function to grind Blitzball anyway, a lot of changes has been done to make it challenging now. (DON'T reset blitzball in this patch!) - All Blitzball Teams got reworked > new players and strategies to raise the difficulty - you're not playing as Besaid Aurochs anymore (Ronso Fangs got replaced by Besaid Aurochs) - difficulty will scale a lot better now > Level & Skills of all Players got edited. -> more details about all blitzballteams & player changes are listed here: https://www.nexusmods.com/finalfantasyxx2hdremaster/mods/89?tab=description&topic_id=7517501
3.) SPHERE GRID CHANGES: - This time for real: removed all high level spells / magic. > spare change can still be pretty broken but I wanted to keep it for more possible strategies to win battles & boss fights - The Ability "Use" got removed from the SG & can't be learned or used by all Party Members anymore
4.) BATTLE COMMANDS New commands are available in battles via menu. Some of the old ones got removed for balancing reasons: -> Stand by: The character recovers 50 HP. -> Talk to: Talk will raise a specific stat for the character. -> Struggle: Struggle'll deal more damage if you're on low HP. Can also be used to help party members who got swallowed by an enemy monster.
5.) OVERDRIVE REWORK & BALANCING
- Rikku's Overdrive "Mix" The one & only reason why Rikku is super broken even in the vanilla game. Since she's already earlier available as a party member, you were able to beat even boss battles pretty easy. -> That's why it's now forbidden to use it ! (Technically you still can; it's still in the game to prevent soft locks in Rikku's Tutorial fight) Instead you'll find all balanced and non broken "Mixes" under "items / use" . Mix requires 2 items > No longer requires 2 items to be used. Rikkus fully charged Overdrive bar is still required.
All reworked mixes can also be used by all party members who' re able to use "items" in battle by using her fully charged OVB.
New unique Rikku Overdrives have been added:
...GUIDED MISSiLES: Calls the al-bhed airship for help, damaging all enemies with guided missiles.
(still beta, deals high true damage, won't scale with stat points.) Using it with party members other than Rikku may cause lock your game! >maybe will get removed next patch since it get's abused too hard<
Recommended usage: 1x Boss Battle, mid - to late game. Slows the whole party down!
... EMBLEM OF FATE Dealing HP & heavy MP damage to the enemy. Effective in battles against heavy magic / spell users.
6.) LULU's FURY OVERDRIVE MORE USEFUL - Fury changed & buffed! > no longer requiers some spells to be learned. More useful over all, especially in the beginning of your journey.
7.) YOJIMBO's ZANMATOU REMOVED! Instead of avoiding to use Yojimbo because of his insta-death effect, he's not able to perform "Zanmatou" anymore. Now all of his skills deal piercing damage (ignore ANY defense stat points; dealing true damage to enemies). Will use SOS Abilities when low on HP, to survive intense fights
8.) AURON'S OVERDRIVE BUFFED - scales now better with his stat points and is able to use from the start
9.) KIMAHRI's RAGE OF THE RONSO reworked & his playstyle is more supported now! - Already learned some useful Overdrives - Instead of changing equipment in battle, he's able to use "boost" & "shield" to charge his OD faster - NEW OVERDRIVEMODE usable! He's able to use the aeon exclusive overdrive mode. - scaling with stat points got buffed! (30% > 60%)
10.) ITEMS IMPORTANT - DON'T USE THE AUTO MANAGE / SORT function. Potions and other items you'll find at the start are just shown as items if you're in the menu - but are modded Skills & Magic Rikku uses in battle! -"Items" can't be used in battle by most of the Party Members anymore (explained earlier) -> you'll have less space in your inventory for balancing reasons
11.) NEW STATUS EFFECTS USABLE - Now it's possible to inflict "berserk" ; "curse" & "confusion" to your enemy (unless they're immune to those status effects)
12.) AEONS - scaling with Yuna's Stat points got reduced again - Damage & Critchance reduced
>Changes to Aeons (more strengts and weaknesses added): Valefor: Able to use steal, use and items in battle + more gil will drop after battle Ifrit: Attacks & Techs are now dealing fire elemental damage instead of physical damage Ixion: Attacks & Techs are now dealing thunder damage Shiva: Attacks & Techs are now dealing ice damage and may "slow" enemies Bahamut: Can no longer use high level magic. Anima: Damage reduced > Magic / Spells boosted Yojimbo: Using SOS / Auto A abilites in battle. Magus Sisters: damage reduced > MP costs reduced. Cindy is now a party member to support you from the start of your journey ( to avoid heavy grinding).
Don't use "summon or grand summon " to call her on the battlefield until you have unlocked all magus sisters in remiem temple. (may hard lock).
She'll disappear at some point from your party depending on the progress you've made so far. Cindy & her Equipment is fully costumizable as long as she's a party member.
IMPORTANT: If you want Cindy in your party, switch her before´leveling to battle position 1! !! causing her sometimes to disappear. And don't forget to feed her...shes hungry :/
13.) STARTING EQUIPMENT > "uuhm...i'm gonna try something new!" < Fun weapons with low base stats but handy abilities for grinding. ( overall grinding itself is more rewarding) & supportive armor which isn't obtainable in the vanilla game. DON'T SELL YOUR STARTING EQUIPMENT!!! Fully working in battle & all cutscenes!
IMPORTANT STUFF YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR 1st RUN!
- RIKKU`s TUTORIAL FIGHT Rikku is now earlier available in the game, so you MUST level her up before entering the tutorial fight! I know that this gives you a lot more possibilities to beat this challenge, but I think after grinding early game that hard it's fair enough!
- AEON CAMLOCK / HARDLOCK Aeons won't freeze the game anymore, since they're now immune to stone / be petrified ! PLEASE DON'T USE AEONS if you're reset the story until you're back in Killika Woods to avoid locks!
- SURPRISES ....poison is deadly! (poisoning Lv 1 - 3 > 75%-90% max HP damage) ....no mercy! Other Summoners in Aeon Duels (f.e. Belgemine) have the ability to attack Yuna directly! ....New Game + (travel back to besaid after "Operation Mi'hen" to trigger the event > you need to complete the story twice before you can obtain all celestial weapons or aeons) ...and a lot more nasty stuff! ;)
- WANT IT EVEN MORE CHALLENGING? Use "Sin Unleashed" Mod to raise enemy HP & statpoint scalings by another 60% to make it even more challenging"

Hello im very happy that people show so much love for this game after all this time. First thing first thought. GZ for your work , i imagine it took aloooot of time to reach this point. There are some things i would like to ask you since its my first time see this mod.
1. How the mod kicks in? must i start a new game or the mod starts only through the save at Luka? I would prefer to start the story normaly though.
2.There are 4 Versions of this mod from what i check, its version is diferent or i must install the latest version?

Hey @Kujareturns If you want, share you stream with us - I'm gonna link everyone, who's currently giving this mod a try! Well, it's not necessary to restart in besaid, unless you want to get 100% or doing side quests. Be sure, that all of you Party members are strong enough to fight Besaid enemies / tutorial fights, because the game will freeze and you'll get stuck on besaid island. Additionally I recommend to create multiple save slots in case ur doing a huge mistake!
Hello. I picked this mod mostly because of the blitzball difficulty, I love it but its too easy in vanilla. But I'm sad to say I'm quite disappointed. Players dont level up, and being 15 levels lower than opponents they cant learn new techs either. The only few free players in Luca I could recruit were lvl 1 and 3, which doesnt really help... So that's boring to me, part of the fun is grinding and learning techs. I had a look at your Spira tournament mod but I saw no indication it is any different. Isnt there a way to increase difficulty in another way? While leaving earning exp and learning techs intact?
Hey @Zalera77111022307 1.) In this UHC-mod it uses the "Luca Goers DLC" for Biltzball Tournament Mod. Have you tried the normal version of it? 2.) I note your wishes & if it's possible I'll work on an update and could pubslish it next month. :)
What do you mean by normal version? I did try to reset blitzball but players still dont earn exp :/

EDIT: While I'm at it I'd like to suggest to add double AP or something to the starting gear, its incredibly tedious to grind for hours before even advancing on Mi'hen highroad... There are abilities that are both on weapon and armor for the same character, so there's room :P

@puppenblut ive got a few notes that you might be interested in for scaling your next patch for the mod. (this is based on 3.0)
restricting use of quick pocket to use items
restricting use of trio9999
fixing dark ixion spawn whilst in thunder plains. makes getting iron giants impossible without fighting dark aeon first. (had to use zanmato to deal with so i could do monster arena)
might be worth slowing overdrive -> ap? to make endgame more grindy
yunalesca bug with sleeping aeons. soft crash game
blitzball slightly over difficult, disregarded it completely felt like was more worthwhile persuing other training for damage in fights
guiding missiles makes game TOO easy, players choose to not use it to handicap because of how powerful it is.
add doom to the list of rikku overdrive items?
aeon immunities? sleep/zombie immunity makes no sense. bahamut doesnt die on yunalesca because of absorb selfheal
cindy pointless creates more bugs than its worth restrict flee to some characters

Was wondering if anyone had success in using Ronso skill editor for the optional addon that gives enemies new abilities / buffs
I followed the instruction to disable the read only setting from the FFX steam folder, however still get an error when Ronso tries to "open" the FFX that is running.
do you have ffx in english laguage? I've discovered the same problem with my german verison of the game - but since i've changed laguage, the ronso editor worked successfully!
Ive been playing through the mod for last few days, got up to monster arena after completing game (and new game plus). wanted to fight things in besaid and no matter what i do, no enemies spawn on besaid. so i cant get agility spheres from unlocking fenrir and cant keep up with the dark aeons :(
edit: To avoid this, capture all enemies in besaid in waterfall area (right next to beach exit) before backtracking to tutorial fights. MUST GET 10 OF EACH!)

There are some things i would like to ask you since its my first time see this mod.
1. How the mod kicks in? must i start a new game or the mod starts only through the save at Luka? I would prefer to start the story normaly though.
2.There are 4 Versions of this mod from what i check, its version is diferent or i must install the latest version?
3. Is your mod compatible with the various graphic mods?
4. Is your Blitzball Mod mod Compatible with this mod??

when do you have to go back to besaid to restart?

Well, it's not necessary to restart in besaid, unless you want to get 100% or doing side quests.
Be sure, that all of you Party members are strong enough to fight Besaid enemies / tutorial fights, because the game will freeze and you'll get stuck on besaid island.
Additionally I recommend to create multiple save slots in case ur doing a huge mistake!

Have you tried the normal version of it?

EDIT: While I'm at it I'd like to suggest to add double AP or something to the starting gear, its incredibly tedious to grind for hours before even advancing on Mi'hen highroad... There are abilities that are both on weapon and armor for the same character, so there's room :P

@puppenblut ive got a few notes that you might be interested in for scaling your next patch for the mod. (this is based on 3.0)
restricting use of quick pocket to use items
restricting use of trio9999
fixing dark ixion spawn whilst in thunder plains.
makes getting iron giants impossible without fighting dark aeon first. (had to use zanmato to deal with so i could do monster arena)
might be worth slowing overdrive -> ap? to make endgame more grindy
yunalesca bug with sleeping aeons. soft crash game
blitzball slightly over difficult, disregarded it completely
felt like was more worthwhile persuing other training
for damage in fights
guiding missiles makes game TOO easy, players choose to not use
it to handicap because of how powerful it is.
add doom to the list of rikku overdrive items?
aeon immunities? sleep/zombie immunity makes no sense. bahamut
doesnt die on yunalesca because of absorb selfheal
cindy pointless creates more bugs than its worth
restrict flee to some characters
game crash beating extractor with caladbolg on newgame+

I followed the instruction to disable the read only setting from the FFX steam folder, however still get an error when Ronso tries to "open" the FFX that is running.
I've discovered the same problem with my german verison of the game - but since i've changed laguage, the ronso editor worked successfully!
EDIT: weirdly if before loading an rsa file I make any edits in Ronso and then load the rsa file then it works.

edit: To avoid this, capture all enemies in besaid in waterfall area (right next to beach exit) before backtracking to tutorial fights. MUST GET 10 OF EACH!)
