Velen 2.0 is a standalone modification for the game Gothic 2. It offers a brand new story, a brand new large world, brand new characters, dialogues and quests, new armors, helmets, shields, weapons and other items, new features like shields, a complete german voice output and many overhauls of the original game.
This patch isn't necessary but it is recommended for better compatibility if you play this game on newer operation systems! It's an Systempack-Alternative and can't be used with that! Install it if you are experiencing issues with missing voice output.

After you've done that, you can easily launch it via the new Gothic 2 Workshop Launcher and another cool feature is, that you can easily switch between the English and the German version in the Launcher! For that you'll have to own Gothic 2 on Steam and you'll have to install the latest Beta for the game - "Workshop Beta". All in all it's much easier now to install, you should give it a try when you play the game on Steam anyway.

Das Gerücht eines offenbar stark angetrunkenen alten Seefahrers, der eines Abends in einer Taverne mit seinen Geschichten und angeblichen Erlebnissen prahlte, schickte ihn gemeinsam mit seinem Kapitän Morgan auf eine lange Reise: Sie segelten zu einer kleinen Insel, fernab der bekannten myrtanischen Inseln und Küsten, beherrscht von einem äußerst wohlhabenden Fürsten sollte sie sein, dessen Schatzkammer vor Gold und Juwelen nur so überquellt.
