Hi! I put the file in /Data. When I start a new game or I load a previous one, I find myself surrounded by water with no way to get out . So I die. No matter where I was in my savegame or if I start a new game, I am always in that pool. What is the problem ?
Installed it and I'm getting the same black screen with 0 hp. Did the steam fix - same shit. After I delete the vdf for this mod the game works again. For what it's worth. i9-10900k 32 gb ram RTX 4080 SUPER 4k monitor
did you use the d3d renderer? https://github.com/Kirides/GD3D11 did you install Union?
I have noticed that Union is a must, otherwise textures gets buggy. It's also possible that the d3d renderer fixes issues, like getting out of memory. I know for a fact that it makes the performance much better.
Thanks for the reply. I've unzipped GD3D11-v17.8-dev9 into the Gothic II system folder ...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Gothic II\system I've installed Union Resource Manager from https://www.myrtana.net/en/union-pluginy which then I used to install Union 1.0m in the data folder as instructed on the site: ...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Gothic II\Data Launched the game from steam, when I load the game it loads but it's black screen
on a side note, it does appear someone grabbed a really old version of this mod (0.7 i think) and added it to spine. i guess that's one of the reason people don't like spine.
Hello, thank you very much for all your work! For some reason the faces Vurt's_G2_NPC_Faces.vdf don't work for me. I am completely new to modding Gothic 2. Over the last day I managed to get d3d11 working, get your Vurt's Gothic II Graphics Overhaul.vdf texture mod work as well as ReShade and a few Union mods. I am playing Archolos through Steam. The other texture mod has year 2039 when I check it with VDFS tool and I tried changing the NPC faces year to 2038,2039 and 2040 and with all three the faces in the game look unchanged. Does it only affect some faces? So far I only seen the NPCs on the starting ship.
I just double check, and yes, all the people on the boat look the same with the mod as without it. Are there any .INI settings that I need to customize, maybe? Here's screenshots for proof https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1qk1G4IUk92PckGg1kJ2CLWbLgsM8bmTz?usp=sharing
that's why the naming for the mods are different. like it says this mod is for Gothic 2 and not CoM so it won't affect their textures, including their faces.
You are right that I was using this mod's textures. They worked so I thought they are fine for Archolos.
Also, I have tried using both textures and faces from the G2 and CoM version and while the base textures work fine, the face textures also don't work. You can check the folder again (files "3 with" and "3 without") https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1qk1G4IUk92PckGg1kJ2CLWbLgsM8bmTz?usp=sharing
I have only now correctly modified the MK_Textures.vdf through VDFS Tool so that the year is 1990. With that modification both this mod and the G2 and CoM variant base textures now result in modified main menu and loading screen textures! So I guess for the base textures it really doesn't matter which one I use? But I understnad that the G2 and CoM is whats made for Archolos right? I think my problem is refering to CoM as Archolos which is confusing myself..
Anyhow, like I wrote above, even with the CoM mod the faces are unchanged. Are there any INI changes I can try?
CoM uses many of the original textures, so yes this mod will work for those textures, but i would not recommend using the mod or both mods, you should use CoM and G2 overhaul for CoM since it has those textures + the CoM textures. loading screens and start screen is, i believe, only a thing for the mod on this page..
Got it, thanks for all all your ideas! I actually don't mind the vanilla faces. Most important thing are the high quality world textures anyway :) think this might be my GOTY if Veilguard ends up disappointing :)
26.10.2024 currently this mod does not work. Black screen like some other comments says. Edit: installing union does not help but installing steam fix from steam workshop works. Edit2: game is extremaly laggy on high end PC and changing mouse sensitivity only make it worse also some TEXTURES block moves xD at this point i just delete it and play clean
I have 100-120 FPS with a 3090, 7800x3d, 32GB ram. it's ultra smooth with zero lag. I use the D3D11 renderer.
There's a rare few reports of issues, but the mod had 100K downloads on world of players (+ other pages where it can or could be found) and 20K unique downloads here, so no, most people does not have any kind of issue.
Textures can't block stuff, a mesh could (and should, since you shouldn't be able to walk through most of them).
Overall it's unfortunately impossible to make everything work for everyone for computers, that goes for every mod in existence, every program and every game. There will always be a few people where it just won't work. Unfortunately it is often also impossible for the creator to fix it, unless he can replicate the issue, then its possible to perhaps find a solution. there are many hundreds of thousands of PC configurations, so yeah, a few configs will always be incompatible, it can be hardware, or drivers, a user error somewhere, or a mix.
SOLUTION -> The lag issue is caused by you not installing the GD3D11 program. I had the lag after I installed this mod to but realized it was cause I was missing GD3D11. I downloaded it from here https://github.com/kirides/GD3D11?tab=readme-ov-file
Downloading from Steam naked Gothic 2 gold edition I throw files in ./Data When I go to save, black screen, nameless immediately dies. When I start a new game, does not die, runs somewhere in the dark.
it's that time of year to play all the Gothics again
Sorry i see that I already asked about this a year ago but I don't remember if I managed to do it and how I did it so I'll ask againHow to change the menu screen to the one with the water mages XDDDD you said 1 year ago that some file with the mod but here there is only one file for graphics
what you're looking for is the image called startscreen inside the .vdf archive. so the whole mod needs to be unpacked, file has to be removed and then the whole thing must be recompiled again with Gothic VDFS. I'm sure youtube and other places has tutorials for it.
if/when i update the mod i can remove it, not sure why i've left it, i don't like it either tbh.. i don't know when that will be though.
Which specific ReShade or SweetFX graphic modification are you currently using? Photos are very colorful, which is why I'm wondering about the source of that effect.

no idea why faces wouldn't work, sorry.

Mod works well with it.
change values in gothic.ini (without changing values same problem)
zTexCacheOutTimeMSec=5120000
zTexCacheSizeMaxBytes=512000000
zSndCacheOutTimeMSec=10000
zSndCacheSizeMaxBytes=20000000
I enter the game, black screen, HP bar, nameless running in black empty space, pile of things underfoot.
How to solve the problem?
Thanks
I throw files in ./Data
When I go to save, black screen, nameless immediately dies. When I start a new game, does not die, runs somewhere in the dark.
I add Vurt's Gothic II Graphics Overhaul and problems begin
