The old Reloaded version should still work even on latest game version. The effects just won't happen in newer contents/fights if you keep using the old mod version.
Delete/back-up the data.i and orig_data.i found in your game install folder. Then verify game files via Steam to get a clean copy of data.i.
v1.1.4 made updates to data.i so if you did not have clean data.i when game updated, then that could cause issues. i.e. Steam skipped updating your data.i or more likely is that Reloaded is still using the old orig_data.i.
I believe I don't understand what you're saying. So, I need to use that merge method to use this mod? Since v 1.1.4 changed data.i? or i just need to use mod manager to use this mod?
I tried your method of deleting data.i, then verifying the game files. After that I tried copy and paste this mod (data.i and data folder) into the game directory, but the game still wouldn't launch. (Except using original data.i)

So seems like you are using non-Reloaded version. For non-Reloaded versions yes, you will now need to manually merge since the data.i that I uploaded then was for older version. I won't be updating it yet as there could be hotfixes and whatnot in the coming days.
If this is the only mod you are using then I do recommend manually merging it as opposed to setting up Reloaded. You only need to:
1. Download and extract Release 1.2.2 · Nenkai/GBFRDataTools (github.com) 2. Copy only data folder of this mod, ensure data.i is clean copy 3. Execute this command: GBFRDataTools.exe add-external-files -i <path to data.i>
thanks, thou after some testing, disabling the TAA ruins the smooth look of the game and (even with the slight FPS increase) so it wasn't worth it for me
do the potato combinations increase fps? cuz im playing in between 55-30 fps and i would want it to be a stable 45+, i have put graphics on standard also

Please see this specific section for game updates: Installing Mods - Granblue Fantasy - Relink Modding (nenkai.github.io)
Mod still works for me, but I manually merge my mods. So if it's mod manager that needs updates then that outside my control. No choice but to wait.
