To all of you who added a 3 year old config file to a game that just got a substantial update: What did you think would happen?!
That being said, I have done some very quick and dirty updates to fix things, but they still might not be working 100%. I encourage you to tweak it yourself.
I will not provide support, nor will I respond to your comments. This config was made to fix some annoyances I had, if you find it useful enjoy. If you don't, feel free to delete it.
of course. it increases LOD distance. without it objects and LODs popin a lot. with it you dont see any popins. but atm the mod is broken (at least for me. it doesnt work propperly)
I get fatal error after 1-2 min ingame. I dont understand. I got an error after 20-30min. and then someho (without any update) it started to crash every 1-2min. So I removed it. but the LOD popins are really annoying. pls fix the mod :D
Not sure how, but this .ini for GTA III broke my saves. I was working on comps too, just got 100 packages, paramedic level 12, etc.
I saw this mod was last updated 24 days ago and thought it might make lod nicer.
I follow description and setup inis etc, but I started losing car sounds in the game after running this .ini for a short time and then began getting micro hangs and UE4 engine crashes, none of which I had before.
At first, I just restored the original .ini since I had it backed up, but that didn’t fix anything.
I then reinstalled the game, deleted all data from the GTA III folder in Documents and AppData, checked that Steam was clear, and made sure the Rockstar Launcher wasn’t restoring the modded .ini from cloud save profiles. Still, the problems persist.
If I start a new game, everything’s fine, no issues at all. I’ve logged nearly 25 hours on these saves, and now they’re broken, with the game crashing too frequently to persist
I know to back up my saves when using other mods, but I never thought this would happen from a simple .ini edit. My understanding was that with ini edits if there's a problem you just roll it back or restore, since it’s loaded on game start.
I’m not running any other mods and no cheats, I’ve tried creating a new save, loading it, and even restoring defaults in every menu, saving, loading in case that might fix it, etc, but nothing works, and it seems permanent.
Does anyone else have any suggestions I could try, or something I am missing? would be good to recover 25 hours. Thanks
This mod is straight up trash bro. I had the same exact issue and had to download a save close to where I was because of the exact same issue. I play for a while again and It happened again, the as*hole creator doesnt care and wont look into it cuz reddit behavior. Just dont use this awful mod and report it if you can
I thought perhaps that it could just be a coincidence, and that maybe it just happened to be the game; but thanks for letting me know you had the exact same problem with this mod.
I've been using Nexus for maybe a decade, and I don't recall ever having had an experience like this.
I understand that Nexus Mods is a community-driven platform, and I appreciate the efforts of creators who go out of their way to share their work. However, given that Nexus Mods has somewhat of a good reputation, I believe it's reasonable to expect a certain level of responsibility from mod authors who upload content for the community to use. This is especially true when mods have the potential to be as destructive as this one, leaving it up to users with less knowledge to figure out the consequences. One would hope that mod authors, who have gone to the effort to upload content for others to use, would possess a deeper understanding of the game's mechanics and potential issues, and that they would at least want to protect and maintain the interests and intentions of their work and effort, if it is still being made publicly available, once they realize there are significant issues, rather than harm the user experience or diminish the time and effort of the rest of the community.
I deeply suggest you to report this mod ASAP. It clearly breaks the "Innapropriate Content" guideline where it's stated that: - "Files must be presented in good faith and in a functional state with respect to any caveats or requirements that you must detail and present to the user." The files aren't either presented in good faith or in a functional state.
Does anyone know what changing the traffic from 2 to 3 in gameusersettings.ini actually does? i deleted the density and cars distance lines, do i still need to change this?
bro i just replaced the ini to my document folder didnt changed any values but my all lamposts lights are gone in GTA SA what to do however i also changed the Traffic value you mentioned in README
I have installed various mods like razed graphic mod, ROSA texture mods, Car mods, etc. Therefore there is a big performance drop with this config. It might be because I used heavy mods already. There were many people complaining about performance but it might be due to many graphic mods already installed. I think this config is good for vanilla GTA DE. I would say that if you want to install graphic mods/texture packs with this LOD config then you should have better pc/laptop than me with MORE RAM and GRAPHIC CARD, then this mod/config might be good. Cause it hits really hard on performance with other graphic mods. I tried lower config settings and changing the vram in that config but nothing worked. It might work by lowering in-game graphics but i prefer the graphics rather than LOD.

Diagnosed it to be this mod, and diagnosed it further that the Ped settings were causing it. So I removed
gta.peds.distance=3.0
gta.peds.density=6
Also, the streets were basically empty with traffic (yes even after setting traffic=3), so I also removed.
gta.cars.density=50
gta.cars.distance=5.0
