It looks like updating to 2.x(while other mods are installed) may crash your game unless other mods are updated for ModUtil 2.x as well. (My 250+ hours save was corrupted after having such crash, and a new game crashed when I advenced to next chamber, so I had to roll back to ModUtil 1.11.2)
That shouldn't be the case due to the Compat module, I tested every single mod I could come across (the entire speedrunning modpack + all of pony's mods + all of my mods)
Can you be precise in what mods are broken with it?
After cleaning up edits and reapplying mods, activating 'Chef Cusine Mod' doesn't crash the game when proceed to next chamber. Perhaps adding/applying mods over and over was the problem?
**Ugh, some other mod brings me the same problem... 'Ello's Rerolling Everything' caused the same problem with 2.07 this time...
