Why is it that whenever I play this mod my weapons and hud are all messed up. Dual wielding doesnt work and the hud doesnt properly show ammo count and shield strength. No one else is talking about this so am I the only one?
wait really? ill take a look at this tonight. very odd. I ran through the entire thing on easy without issues so ill try it tonight and see what happens. I can do a music only version as well. would be pretty quick and ill try to upload that tonight as well. EDIT: WOW okay so I had removed the ringing sound that plays at the beginning of the level because I thought that was a remastered only thing. For some reason I don't remember it being in Classic. This one sound being gone stops the entire level from playing. I grabbed the sound out of my recycle bin and recompiled. The map works and I'm going to upload tomorrow (its 5 AM so when I say tomorrow I mean when I wake up because I'm going to bed)
Seems like it's back to not working again, I pasted in the recent levels and they loaded, but melee animations, certain weapon sounds, and dual-wielding were disabled, and the reticle is always in the red. 343i is flipping s#*! around again it seems.
The mod is broken for me, it may have been the update. Whenever I launch a mission, the game crashes on the loading screen. This also happened to the other similar music swap mod.
Thank you for letting me know. I will look into setting time aside to fix this. I was actually looking to use this mod rn myself but now it seems that I can't. Can't be mad though, it broke because of some really neat fixes I am personally happy about.
Yeah I expected this. Luckily I backed up my tag files this time and I'm hoping its as easy as throwing in those sound tags with the new ones instead of needing to redo everything. EDIT: of course they made changes to the H2 sounds. In the patch notes they don't say what changes specifically. I remade outskirts with the backed up tags and everything sounds..odd. Some sounds you can tell are quieter than they should be. They work but are quiet. Looks like ill have to try and find time to do this again. Ill probably do gun sounds and music to start and release that, then ill work on doing ambient sounds in the levels and release that later since that's what takes the most time.
Thanks for the mod. As much as I love the new soundtrack (especially Genesong with Steve Vai absolutely shredding it even compared to his old track) it just doesn't feel right with the new tracks for The Arbiter's banshee sequence and the Gravemind battle.
No problem! Also if you get the chance, I would like opinions on the sound of the brute plasma rifle. 343 added this extra sound on top of the normal firing sound unique to the red version. Thought I removed it but then found out that I left it in. So now I'm curious if people would rather it stay to make the brute PR more of its own, or if I should remove it.
Yeah the main problem I have with 343 sound design that really bugs me is the fact that they don't seem to understand what the energy sword really is. They make it sound lasery like it's a lightsaber and not like the hot gasses that it actually is. I miss the gas effects when the sword gets drawn too.
I believe 343 fixed the issue with music being too low. I've done this mod in the past which was sloppy and I did increase it that time, but this time I did not and didn't feel the need to this time. Music was addressed in the season 8 update as far as I can tell. It seems a lot louder. I normally play with music at 100 and sound effects at 75 to compensate but I tried with both at 100 after the update and it seems better now. They also mention something about music in the patch notes.
All I care about is the instrumental version of Blow Me Away in the Mausoleum on High Charity. As long as I can crank that on modern graphics, I'm happy.

I'll be honest, I haven't even touched H2A because I couldn't swap the soundtrack, first time playing it now.

Especially Trapped in Amber. The Anniversary version is beautiful.
The "Mansoor" tracks replacing Follow and Blow Me Away are ear-cancer, however.
