This resource provides you with all the necessary tags and files to be able to add a fully functional and to-scale Halo 1 Longsword vehicle complete with interior to any map of your choosing!
Please be aware that this mod is a work in progress and is not considered complete
Please also be aware that this mod is intended as a modder's resource, although it does come packaged with a custom map to test it.
Special thanks to Arttumiro for spending a lot of time helping me put together the physics model, as well as with countless other small issues!
Features:
- Imported original longsword model from Halo CE
- Full original textures
- Completely custom physics and collision model built from scratch by me
- Fully walkable interior, with complete player collision - although the safety of moving around the cabin whilst in flight is untested!
- Working pilot and co-pilot seats - pilot has 3rd person view whilst the co-pilot can look around in 1st person
- Basic flight physics to be able to fly around - however BE AWARE that I have not yet edited the flight model. It simply flies exactly like a pelican at the moment.
- Enough room to fit a mongoose (or 10). Please be careful of dangerous airborne mongeese whilst in flight.
- The included test map features a sneak peak at a work-in-progress port
Additional Info/Known Issues/Things being worked on:
- The longsword has early-mover physics enabled, meaning that in theory you should be able to move around the interior during flight, but this requires more testing.
- Missing collision on the ramp's piston
- There is currently no animation for the ramp opening/closing, it simply stays open. This is due to being unable to port the original animations, and little knowledge about how to recreate them.
- Seat animations are not correct - I did have a version with decent looking seated animations for the player, however their exit animations would cause the player to appear outside of the vehicle upon exiting the seat. Therefore I have decided for the time being to use the banshee animation for both seats - I've adjusted the positioning of the animation to provide a bit of comic relief for the time being ;)
- Exterior collision model is fairly simplistic, and I'm hoping to improve it at a later date. It is at least functional for the time being, and you can walk around on top of the longsword just fine
- The longsword uses the default dropship camera track, meaning that the camera currently sits a bit too close to the tail at the moment

Download the version of the mod you want - installation instructions for each version are contained in the .zip file
