About this mod

Play through the Halo Reach campaign as a weak, squishy, under-powered ODST!

Requirements
Permissions and credits
I've been wanting to play Halo Reach as a regular human but I couldn't find any mods that still worked, so I made one. This is more of a passion project for myself, but I figured I would upload it for anyone else who wants the same thing. I've made a few other game-play modifications but I've tried to stay as faithful to the original game as possible. Check below for a list of the changes I made. I recommend playing on Heroic with skulls turned on, but you can obviously play with whatever settings you want. Since you aren't a spartan anymore, you will be a lot easier to kill. On top of that, you can't throw grenades instantly, jump as high, or melee as fast/hard. If this sounds like something you'd like, go ahead and give the mod a try!

Changing your Armor/Fatigue Colors
Your appearance in-game changes depending on what armor permutations you are wearing for multiplayer. I've included a list of pictures in the mod folder for you to see what you need to wear to change your appearance. For some reason the marine armor color is controlled by your visor color. Again, just look at the picture guide that comes with the mod to see which one you want. Your fatigues are controlled by your multiplayer armor colors. Oddly enough, your secondary color will be your primary color in-game, and your primary color will be your secondary color in-game. Confused? Basically, whichever color you want to see more of, make that your secondary armor color.

Download this mod to customize your marine fully if you don't have everything unlocked in Reach!

Marine fatigue colors are typically unable to be used in-game since there aren't any multiplayer armor colors you can choose that are close to what they use. So, I swapped the Pink and Rust colors with the fatigue colors used by marines. You just need to set your Primary color to Rust and your Secondary color to Rose. I've included a picture in the gallery for you to see how it should all look. I chose those colors because I find them ugly, and the chances of anyone wanting to legitimately run around the game with those as their fatigue colors are slim to none.

Changes
Health/Shields
- Shields have been removed
HUD
- Third Person camera has been used for the entire campaign
- 3rd person weapon zoom has been added (no night vision when zooming. It's a technical limitation)
- The HUD/Night Vision now has a yellow paint job
Weapons/Damage
- Melee damage has been reduced from 100% to 25% (spine taps are still lethal)
- Grenade throw distance has been increased (to balance for the long throw-time)
- Grenade/melee attacks now take a few seconds, and fit the marine animations better
Movement/Controls
- Jump height has been reduced
- You can't hijack enemy vehicles, assassinate enemies, or dismount turrets
- Run speed has been reduced from 100% to 75% (this fits the run animation better, you also can't run as fast as a spartan)
Equipment
- Equipment drops upon player death (so you can get it back during co-op)
- Sprint now lasts a few seconds longer
- Armor Lock ability has been replaced with Evade (While Evading, you have increased damage resistance)

Current Plans

Fixing some minor bugs.

Crashing issues
If you are having issues with the game crashing when trying to load a map, one fix I have found that works is to go to your Spartan and change all of your armor permutations to the Default ones you start with.

Known Bugs
- Throwing grenades while riding passenger in a vehicle causes the grenade to permanently stick to your hand and never detonate
- If you are unable to zoom-in with any weapons, check your FOV settings and lower them to 78
- The civilians in the first house on Winter Contingency will not trigger. Just keep walking and you will be fine.
- If you use the Evade ability right before a cutscene, you will be locked into the dive animation. The only fix for this is to restart the map
- During the mission Nightfall the door Jun unlocks sometimes stays closed. I've never been able to re-create the bug so if you find a fix let me know

Notes
If you have any issues, just leave a comment and I'll see if I can help! It's hard to troubleshoot everything when it's just me so any help is appreciated.
