I can't seem to get this to work. I have a modmanifest.txt file that reads "C:\Users\Goliath\Downloads\Halo 2 mod" which is where the file is extracted to. I verified the game files and then am running it with easy anticheat disabled but it doesn't seem to be showing up.
You need to take the file named "earthcity_e3.map" and then rename it so that it overwrites any map in halo 2's folder. That is the only file that you need for playing the E3 demo. So... for example, here is my directory structure (I manually created an installable mod and this is it's archive structure): "Halo 2 - Digsite E3 2003 v1.0-2640-1-0-0-1731297325\halo2\h2_maps_win64_dx11\00a_introduction.map"
As you can see, I named my "earthcity_e3.map" to "00a_introduction.map". At this point you can either drop it into the halo2 map folder and it will work as-is (be careful and make backup files), or you can pack it into a mod.zip archive with the directory structure shown above. After which it will install with a mod manager such as vortex. As far as how to play the map on MCC, you would simply choose the very first campaign map for Halo 2.
For those trying to play on the Xbox app version, here's what I did to get to work:
1: Go to MCC/Content/Halo2/h2_maps_win64_dx11 2: Backup 03a_oldmombasa.map(I just put it into a separate folder called backups) 3: Copy earthcity_e3.map from the maps folder in the download into the maps folder listed above 4: Rename earthcity_e3.map to 03a_oldmombasa.map 5: Run MCC without anti-cheat 6: Load up outskirts on classic graphics(this took a minute for it to load but it did) 7: Enjoy :)
I didn't test if renaming other maps worked but outskirts felt like the best fit.
I would also recommend watching the original demo video to get a good idea of what your doing, there's some triggers that are meant to be hit at the right spot for things to progress.
No need to even do all of that. Best things to do is the following:
1. Download the Mod and place it in a folder called Mods 2. Extract the Mod from the zip and rename to EARTHCITY 3. Open the %appdata% folder and go to the LocalLow folder. 4. Open MCC ->Config and create a new text file called modmanifest.txt. 5. In the text file paste the location of the where you saved your mods. (ex: C:\Mods) 6. Launch MCC without anti-cheat and go to Halo 2 Anniversary under Campaign. You will see 2003 E3 Earth City Demo ready to launch.
If this doesn't work, try and go to the Xbox App and go to Manage game files under MCC and have it reverify the files. It should work after that!
When you launch MCC without anti-cheat, search in the Windows Search Bar "MCC" and "Halo: MCC Anti-Cheat Disabled" comes up as an independent launcher. Just click that and you're off!
Also, I installed this with Mod Manager and it worked perfectly in the event ya'll don't want to manually do the mod thing
