Used this mod a long while back. Loved it. Changed all the voices and what not, but now....everyone is Japanese except for me. My character. In fact, he doesn't say anything at all. Is this just me?
Fair warning, the mod only changes the audio of the game - nothing else.
Which means it does not have the Japanese lipsync from the JP locale of Hogwarts Legacy.
I think the more appropriate action for those who want to do it, is to have a mod that changes the Japanese text to English in the JP locale of the game.
this quite works except that the lip-synch doesnt and the dialogues get cut off due to the long japanese sentences, i would say if there was a mod to replace the japanese text with the english one, the reverse, then yes, that would make more sense and work.
Love the mod, Personally love playing games in jp, but one question about the mod, I noticed it doesn't cover all the MC's sounds like their grunts and such when attacking with basic cast, Dodge rolling, and when landing after jumping off a small cliff, or when climbing up cliff. Is that something you plan to also change to jp?
I think that's because some voices in the Japanese version uses the default EN voices too, this is something I noticed from watching Japanese audio gameplay from Japanese players themselves, sometimes I still hear default EN voices like grunts, etc. Its not uncommon to see this when JP voices aren't the default. Other games do this too so I dont think this is something that can be fixed.
Gotcha, I know way more less about this games file set up compared to KH3, cause the way it was done there is completely different to how they have it set up in this game, in terms of just where the Pak placement goes.
Given that JP is the 'dub' this time, not all the voices are in english sadly. It's a shame, even though they don't fit the setting and scene, they still are preferable in some ways to the english voices.
No worries Nozai. Just some trivia knowledge for you, game files setup has nothing to do with Japanese dubs in English games sharing audio files with the EN voices. The reason its done this way is to probably to save on costs since Japanese audio would be considered a dub within this game. Less lines/sounds an actor/actress has to do = less costs. Generally, any western developed games that package Japanese audio or any other language as a dub will always share audio files with their EN voices (like grunts, and actions).
KH3 is a different case because that is Japanese made, so Japanese voices in that game were not considered to be a dub but rather the original voices so they had all bases covered, from dialogues to actions to grunts, etc. EN would be the dub in that case. Similar to JP audio being a dub, sometimes you'll have EN dubs that cover all audio files and sometimes you wont. Point is, if an audio language in any game is considered a dub, dont go into it expecting a full cover on all audio files because chances are, it wasnt recorded to cover all bases like the original language voices.
