The optional file (which was already uploaded over half a year before you requested this) does exactly that. It not only removes the dreaded fog but makes EVERY location (including machine sites) visible on the map. If you have already downloaded and correctly installed the optional version you might want to check the map filter options in game as you could have possibly filtered them out accidentally.
Is there a way to make the map force load high resolution textures? some times (more often then not) when I open the map it doesn't load the high detailed texture but shows a low quality version of it. (Similar to when try to zoom too close into your google earth location but the satelites didn't came close enough for high resolution photos.) Sometimes it's just not peek high resolution, but sometimes it just down to seemingly 8bit graphics.
As far as I know, the map in Horizon is not an image. It is generated or rendered each time you load the game. Therefore, there is most probably an issue with your graphics driver. Just found that, map is consist of small texture files, saparated by tiles.
There is one not widely known issue with textures: For some graphic cards, if you put your texture settings to low or medium, near textures (e.g. outfit textures) becoming more clear and hi-quality looking then on high texture settings. It's completely non-logical, but for some people it really works like this, and I'm one of them. Probably your issue caused due to same problem.
It's resolution is better in waste land. It gets worse in NPC heavy areas. I found out that lowering the settings increases the quality of the map and other textures all over the place in these areas.
Mod works great. Also no conflict with Aloy's Adjustments which is always good news. And incase there migh ever be any conflict, after revealing the map you can remove the mod and continue as normal. So it's like a one time command. (Btw why is there no debug console mod or have I just missed something?)
I have a question tbhough. I used the optional file to reveal all points of interest. There are two campires way outside the map. One at the bottom left and the other one at the bottom right. Which questlines will get you there or what are these for?
