The theropod dinosaur Chilantaisaurus tashikouensis is classified within Coelurosauria, and it is hypothesized to be a member of the Megaraptora, though not nested within the Megaraptoridae family. The species was named by Hu based on fossil remains that include a right humerus, part of a left ilium, a second manual ungual, and a nearly complete set of hind limb bones. The precise phylogenetic classification of Chilantaisaurus is still a subject of debate, with some analyses suggesting a placement within the Tyrannosauroidea superfamily, outside of Megaraptoridae, indicating its possible broader affiliation with Megaraptora.
