HOW is this mod supposed to be used?? It looks like it adds recipes to the game, but once I've learned them, where do I actually craft the backpack?

2 years late cuss i forgot, but i did a quick fix for this mod and Wildlife Diversity - Stand alone https://www.nexusmods.com/kenshi/mods/352

i marked the different species of bonedogs, garrus, beak things from that mod to be able to use your backpacks

    https://www.nexusmods.com/kenshi/mods/585

is not that hard to fix but for the lazy ones can download the fix i made,if this fix is not to your liking you can tell me and i will put it down.

How does this work with tame beasties? Since they both add animal backpacks.
    Anyone try this yet?

according to the steam page for 'Animal Backpacks', this and 'Tame Beasties' are incompatible.
(according to the mod author, if you try, the game will still load and everything, but you won't be able to put the backpacks into the backpack slot)

This is a great mod for a couple o' reasons, the first being: Bang! vanilla creatures have backpacks, your bonedogge wont die all the time at the start when you don't have another way of feeding them. (sorry bout that Lasshie), the second, and more important for me, it gives a base to add packs to modded in creatures, for instance; GenMod, et centera. valuable for a Kenshi modding N00B like mesself, so thanks!
To expand on why its great, it shows how both a model can be changed, and the functionality of baggies in the fcs, meaning, if I want to use a different mesh for say, a robot spider, I can learn from this all I need to know, plus, I'm diving into the fcs with a decent idea of what needs to be done to allow object a to use object b. its like discovering morrowind modding all over again, ;)

Hey I know I'm a few months late but I don't suppose you could tell me how to get this working with GenMod? I'm digging around in the editor now but I'm a little lost.

    Hey there!

I've seen comments here, as well as the Steam Workshop, that mentioned problems with the bonedog backpack being unequippable.
I experienced this as well, and decided to do some digging.

Disclaimer: I'm not at all familiar with Kenshi modding, so the following information may be incorrect.

From my understanding, this mod assumes vanilla bonedog varieties. From what I saw, you have a bonedog, and a bonedog pet.
This causes a rather reasonable problem when you add mods that increase this variety. In my case, it' seems to be Wildlife Diversity.

Wildlife Diversity adds 7 new varieties of bonedogs, my assumption is for the various colors it provides.
All you need to do is add them to the bonedog/wolf backpack entry in the FCS.
To do so, once that entry is open, use the dropdown to select race. Then just shift select all bonedog entries listed.
I would recommend saving this into a new mod, much easier to revert changes when the mod list changes.

    Here's an image for clarification.

Green is what the mod accounts for, while yellow are those added by Wildlife Diversity.

    Hope this helps!

Hey, great mod. However 1 small bug report and 1 suggestion

    1) "Bonedog pet" seems to not be able to use bonedog backpack, whiel the normal one can. i have both as pub's equally old, bought from the same trader.
i'm unsure if this is from the "racial diversity" mod. sad if it is tho, can i request the backpack to work for them?

    2) Higher combat stat reduction for combat oriented animals (or less space for them)
it's a bit wierd that bonedog's can carry such a huge inventory and only get a combat penality of -1.
