People like Disarray82 (sticky comment) might want to change their Steam command line to '+exec user'. It helped me getting Steam/KCD to run my user cfg!
The game isn't loading my "user.cfg" file. I have "+exec user.cfg"(without quotes of course)in launch options on Steam. I have all sliders and everything at Ultra. I have the "user.cfg" in D:\Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance. When in game I hit the "~" key and no green commands. I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?
Edit: So it seems if I enter "exec user" into the console in game it works. Just for some reason putting "+exec user.cfg" into Steam doesn't load it for me.
I'm glad you were able to find a fix, and thanks for posting your solution for Steam users! I'll pin your comment. I don't have the game on Steam so I wasn't aware of this.
You might want to use "mod.cfg" instead of "autoexec.cfg", that way it won't overwrite whatever config already exists but is instead appended. You should also make a mod.manifest file to make this work with nexus properly. The mod.cfg should be in the zipfile root directory to be applied properly automagically.
I modified the mod for my own use like so, feel free to use the changes but maybe check it 1st :-)
It's the custom version which needs you to add the megabytes since I got megs to spare so it's not _that_ automagic, but no reason why you couldn't do the same thing with the default 16GB + 8GB version
This is really great and the file looks good to me, awesome work! There seem to be so many ways to apply a custom config to this game lol. I will sticky your comment in case people want to use this method as well. Thanks for sharing!
Ok it turns out the FPS boost may have come from the "CutsceneFPSFixV2" mod. When that is enabled I get 30 fps boost and I lose it when disabled. Weird.

*edit: I didn't realize there was a 60 fps cap with this file. Thanks again!
These Ultra Settings with r_Batchtype=1 give me a locked 90fps on a 7800x3D and 6750xt, with Object and LOD distance sliders set to 50% respectively. A locked 60fps would be easily achievable with all sliders maxed out. Truly amazing work on this config, makes the game look and run beautifully!
So, this config actually tanked my fps, specifically by causing my GPU utilization to plummet.
- The 'shadows' section actually has a small performance penalty (~5 fps or less), BUT it reduces the weird distant shadow flickering issue of the vanilla graphic presets. Worth it.
- The 'LOD' section's changes aren't visibly apparent to me. There's still pretty bad pop in of distant objects and npcs with these settings, although it seems like it's worse with a freshly loaded save state, then improves?
- So far as I can tell, the 'lighting' section is just some custom edits to the game's ambient occlusion. IT HAS A SUBSTANTIAL PERFORMANCE PENALTY ON MY 6800XT, without a dramatic image improvement -- around ~15-20fps, essentially wiping out all of the gains from the 'heavy performance' section of the config. The worst thing about it is that this section of the config is partly taken from another config 'mod' here on Nexus which tweaks the ambient occlusion, except that config has truly zero impact on performance. This config here incurs a performance penalty tweaking the ambient occlusion because it has added additional commands/variables, which do not appear to be worth the penalty.
- Setting r_BatchType=2 in the 'basic tweaks' section seems to be a bad idea for AMD GPUs. r_BatchType=2 was partly the cause of the tanked GPU utilization.
Coming back to this mod and i've noticed that the custom config doesn't work for me anymore (ive put in the correct values), adjusted config works great though.
