I don't think it's working for me. I still draw very slowly. several of the values used in the mod are no longer in the game params. (strikethru are not in 1.96 game file) <row rpg_param_key="BowChargeDurationMin" rpg_param_value="1.0" /> <row rpg_param_key="BowChargeDurationMax" rpg_param_value="1.42" /> <row rpg_param_key="BowPowerToChargeDuration" rpg_param_value="0.062" /> <row rpg_param_key="AimPainlessDelay" rpg_param_value="5" /> <row rpg_param_key="AimStamCost" rpg_param_value="15" /> <row rpg_param_key="AimSpreadSkillDecrease" rpg_param_value="0.058" /> <row rpg_param_key="AimSpreadMax" rpg_param_value="10" /> Do the values still get used by the game?
Also, idk if arrows were buffed by the devs, but in this mod they do a lot less dmg. Altho I think the speed part is still working. Base: power_mod="1" slash_att="0" smash_att="0" stab_att="10" /> power_mod="1" slash_att="0" smash_att="0" stab_att="12" /> Modded: power_mod="1.7" slash_att="0" smash_att="0" stab_att="6" /> power_mod="1.7" slash_att="0" smash_att="0" stab_att="7.2" />
The damage reduction doesn't bother me though, since bows are OP even with the reduction
I fixed it. Working now. I rebalanced the damage and power of the arrows too. The power was too normalized all at 1.7, and the damage was too high (base), and poor arrows did more dmg than ordinary?... I gave them a better balance of power and damage. Weaker arrows have less power, but better arrows have more. Still maybe OP a bit, but much better imo. I can upload the mod if anyone wants
those work for sure, i have been playing around with those and i see difference, especially on the weakest bow at the start of the game.
After the archery contest with Hans Capon i have a strange feeling something happen to archery in game files, i'm not sure but i feel like the speed of bows got suddenly decreased after this, especially better bows. I'm not 100% sure if this is the case but it would be worth testing i would say.
Pls Pin this... Guys the mod works fine, I even added mid playthrough, It doesnt matter what some dumb number says or if some value is showing correctly... When you shoot the arrow someone dies... thats the point right? If you tried to shoot 16 arrows/minute you'd probably miss 10 anyway so that completely irrelevant argument lol... Just download the mod if you want to be an archer. No one is complaining about the fact that an NPC can be hit in a fatal area with an arrow and keep fighting, this mod removes that possibility, cos if you hit someone in an unarmoured area they just die, In reality they would be incapacited and rolling around in agony but the game barely implements this so having the enemy die instantly is a better alternative to taking a arrow to the face and then running at you and one shot stabbing you in the face with a 7 foot polearm from 30cm in front of you........
Judging from the description this would break archery.
I'm after increasing draw speed. (It is infuriatingly slow.) Increase speed of arrows is fine, but it requires for damage to be lowered because these are co-dependent. I assume that increasing damage on top of that breaks archery completely.
Bro its so overpowered and on top of how OP it is, the AI just stands there and takes the arrows, its like the AI gets shocked and break (My roleplay mind calls it 'Battle Shock'). They just stand there like they know theyre gonna die and give up lol. ( on a side note, the noises are so satisfying lol, Like a wet 'thunk')
I reckon it doesnt really matter how OP it is cos I've done archer playthroughs without mods and its just as OP, just requires more time and patience and stealth/stealth armour and night time or horse archery and kiting. With this mod I get the same end result but much quicker. Plus i normally just slaughter the majority and leave one person to sword fight with just for the hell of it, whereas without this mod you'd have to spend 30 minutes kiting and cheesing to reduce their numbers enough just so you can get that satisfying bit of sword combat without being 4v1'd. I've got master strikes and slow mo turned off also, so fighting 4v1 IS IMPOSSIBLE if the enemy are armoured bandits or 6 peasants with a dog. honestly 6 peasants with a dog is worse than 4 armoured bandits, cos either way youre dead but it feels bad getting mobbed by 6 peasants after you've just won the battle of pribyslavitz and are a bailiff lol... I'm also a thousand hour KCD veteran though so do i really care about being to OP at this point? no, should you care, not really and its possibly even harder to aim the bow with this mod when you've been using the bow unmodded for hundreds of hours of gameplay. At the end of the day, if you want a fun, less stressful archer playthrough, this mod is great for that. I added it mid way through my current playthrough for some roleplay, as now im the bailiff i wanted to take off my 'Avenger of Skalitz' Set i normally wear for knightly roleplay and put on my archer/gamemaster set and just roam the lands on hardcore messing around looking for achievements, The mod loaded in great no issues and lucky i have like 10 thousand assorted arrows after buying them the whole game and from Prib raid cos you go through arrows really quickly, which is great cos most arrows you cant retrieve realistically, they be broken and at most you could collect them for heads, but the game doesnt impliment anything for that, so you end up needing to buy lots of arrows unless you spend 30 minutes after every fight to collect 6 arrows back lol. So to balance out the OP feel of the mod, you will need a good source of arrows which can be expensive, and since I play with set rules similar to a Nuzlocke on pokemon or something, I dont loot corpses for armour and such, as you realistically wouldnt be able to carrying it all, I only take coins and spurs or jewelry etc which doesnt always drop. So until I get Prib, i'm usually pretty poor especially when i've depleted the income made from hunting down bandit/cuman camps for Bernard, Robard and Sir Sebastian. Moral is, you can also enforce your own rules to counter the fact that mods you feel are essential for a new feel to an old game, making your game to easy
I've noticed that if you go through the prologue with this mod, when you ride a horse with Skalitz to Talmberg, there's a 95% chance you'll just die before you've finished riding. In my case, I had to turn the mod off and then back on again when i already be in Talmberg.
I think it would be a good idea to either fix this or state it in the mod description.
Hey! Thanks for pointing that out, and sorry for my late -ish reply :D i can't think of a good way to fix it atleast now, so i'll add a note about installing this after the prologue!
Have you tried heading straight up past the church, through the woods and jumping back over the river? that worked for me and it sounded very epic with all the arrows thunking into tree trunks, and when i looked back to see if the cumans got over the river (like i usually do, I always go this way) they were stuck there and once of their horses reared up, it was an epic hollywood moment honestly, If my PC didnt do these mini freezes when the auto capture is turned on than I would have the auto capture on and wouldnt been able to upload that moment, i need a decent PC... mines as old of KCD lol
"A medieval archer firing a heavy warbow could achieve a rate of 16 arrows/minute" Ahh, where did you get this from, because it is wrong. As the English historian Dr Anne Curry, professor of Medieval history at the University of Southampton and dean of the Faculty of Humanities, said in her paper on the rate of fire of heavy bow archers in combat, "arrows were not loosed in a rapidly shot storm, but in quickly succeeding volleys from different groups of archers at a rate of shot of about 5 to 6 arrows per minute as being feasible over a period up to 10 minutes." and "While a highly skilled longbowman could shoot about 12 shots per minute, they are unable to do this for more then 1 or 2 minutes before needing to stop from exhaustion"
Henry isn't a soldier that takes part in battles, so why would he alone be firing volleys? And in my opinion he doesn't need to keep up with the rate for long times in small bandit engagements, so to me it makes perfect sense that he would go all out. https://youtu.be/BfduY0juAt4
as much as I like shad, that video is probably not the best reference. shad was not getting to full draw in the speed shooting, and he was also loosing from the right side of the bow, unlike henry that does from the left, so that would add a bit more time per arrow too.
I agree that it might not be the best reference but still shows that it can be done, even if the draw is not full. And henry shoots about 14 arrows/minute with this mod, so i think it's close enough.
As reference i would also mention larsandersen23who became famous over his dynamic shooting skills https://youtu.be/BfduY0juAt4 His videos clearly shows what can be done with a bow, And based on that we can only imagine that medival archery was not what we can see at the olympic competition.
On the other hand Tod's Workshop channel proved many times over how useless bow would be versus full plate armor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBxdTkddHaE
So to summarise, shooting 15 arrows a minute is reasonable, but killing full plate opponent with a bow in 3 shots, certainly was not.
You're absolutely correct, and you references are great! It's true that even the heaviest longbow probably wouldn't have taken down a knight clad in plate, but it's basically impossible to make it fully realistic with the armor system of the game.
Elminster, youre just a knob like the rest of these idiots, bringing historically accurate facts into an argument where theyre irrelevant lol. Can you guys just stop being knobs and just not use the mod and take your toxic feedback elsewhere lol..
I won the one at the merhojed military camp, the AI are good but im better, and I'd only just installed the mod, right there and Prib and decided the master comp was gonna be good practice, I completely missed my first 2 arrows and i still won so they cant be that good, as I was on master not expert and i still won after completely missing my first shot and only just hitting the outter ring on my second lol
hey, is it normal that after i started mods on kingdom game is so much harder? i have full plate armor and bandits kill me like in 4-5 hits also i 3x swing sword and have 0 stamina, is it normal or i fucked up something?
Feels like this mod really doesn't need the increased damage. Would you mind making a version without the damage increase? The below comments also suggest that a draw speed that's a bit lower is more likely a reliable take, but honestly, the damage increase removal is probably the most important.
After using this mod I noticed no difference in bow draw speed whatsoever. I did notice that arrow damage has roughly been decreased by half; unarmored enemies regularly take two arrows in the face whereas they used to fall in one.
I recommend installing this after the prologue (specifically after the escape from the 3 horse archers), otherwise it is nearly impossible to flee from the bowmen chasing you.
Hey! Thanks for pointing that out, i didn't think/remember about that at all and i can't think of a good way to fix it so i'll add add a note about it!

With applying the mod, the arrows are going way faster, yes. The damage of these are not increased, but decreased to 60%.
