i got it to work on KCD2, just put the user.cfg file in the same directory as system.cfg file then add " -devmode +exec user.cfg" to my shortcut parameters for GOG Version and BOOM. GG

Why do this man? I mean, surely you've realized that the entire combat system is BASED on the lock-on system.. without it, you can beat even the first chasing Cuman in the "Run!" quest at the very beginning of the game. Enemies are dumber than a bag of stones without the lock on system, so removing it is basically making the game casual mode.

Yeah, the picture he uses is from Mount & Blade warband, a favorite game of mine (and maybe his) which IMO has the most skill-based melee combat I've played with the directional blocking and free camera. I just don't see this getting close. The lock-on system in KC:D is very nice for 1v1 but falls apart in 1v2-3-4+ fights, super clunky.

I couldn't agree more with you, xboxwine. If they had made a combat system like Warband or Mordhau, then it would have been much better. More control for all situations. Fighting multiple enemies with this game's lock-on system is a pain in the ass.

Oh, I don't disagree with you guys at all. It's just that it's COMPLETELY broken when you're not locked on, so (imho) a better solution atm is that loose targeting mod, that's also floating around here somewhere.

What's the issue then? People can pick between them based on what they want.
The ability to tweak the game according to how you want to play is one of the best parts of modding.

Youre buying an title to tell others that M&B + Mordhau combat system would be much better in that game.
Really, these two titles are simple crap! Hack 'n Slay, Prerss one button to rule the world! XD

You haven't played them enough then. Warband has 4 attack and block directions, holding attacks, feint attacks, chamber-blocking and with your aim you get endless hit angles. Chivalry was more similar to KCD in the sense that it was first person, but you had to block by aiming where the weapon was coming, and the game had more attack directions as well. Mordhau will be a mixture of Chivalry and Warband. Check Trix' videos of Mordhau on Youtube and tell me if that's crap.

Lock-on system is bulls***, that's why For Honor and Dark Souls will never be as fun in multiplayer as Warband or Mordhau. It's all about having full control over your character vs bad console mechanics put in a PC game. EDIT: I meant "combat system" rather than multiplayer, but anyway multiplayer is where the combat shines in these games.

If a mod that improves the combat in a way like I mention is ever made for KCD, I couldn't wait to try it.

@xPatosonx If KCD had Mordhau type of combat with the realism and physics based part of Exanima, it might be the greatest game of all time as long as it took another year of development, which KCD really did need.

its about positioning, in real life, if you let two people get to you, you'll likely be dead as well. the game reflects this fact properly. so you need to position yourself so that enemies are always in front of you.

i wuld say say the problem with multiple enemies in this game is more about how you are alone in most of these encounters. it would be cool if you could recruit mercenaries at taverns to help you. hell, even those guards who are henry's friends at the beginning, they should be recruitable to serve as your escort and bodyguard in combat situations. it makes sense.

rather than nerf multiple combatants, they should just give henry the ability to bring his own dudes as well. but of course by midgame once you become super knight, you can easily kill entire camps by yourself anyway, but that's a separate issue.

Mordhau is just the Oblivion combat system with directions. The characters are super fast and floaty, weapons have no real weight to them, and the spin/drag s#*! is just arcadey. Also lol at active parry.

That's simply not true, I don't really know how you could say that if you played either game.

We must understand reality, you have no chance in fight against multiple enemy in real life.  This game is counting with it. So you are fighting against one opponent at time mainly, becouse this is reality. In real fight you can not focus on multiple enemyes and target them safely too,...so you are attacking only one opponent every attack.
So you can kill multiple enemies with fast bow shooting in heads, or run, or be happy, that only one is fighting with you.
So in Kingdom come I try to kill enemy with bow and last I try tu duel with sword if it is possible, that I try to somehow copy the reality.

Is there a way to turn off autolock entirely so we wont be turned around non stop against our will toward a different target than we had in mind?   I cant believe this game is so awkward and that people would not understand something so simple.   While fighting, the game turn you automatically toward a different direction sometimes even 180 degrees and all you can say "wtf just happened why did I turned?"

You got tackled by the AI. According to a post on another mod that disables locking on, the developers added the tackled mechanic to make up for some issue that comes with the way the game handles combat dependent on what target you're locked on to, so removing the lock-on feature, according to them, exacerbates it since the AI is constantly seeing you as a tackle opportunity.

See the comment by @aristidetorchia717 here: https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/1612?tab=posts

If anyone cares, this mod still works on the newest Steam version.

Combat is less flavourful, you get a stab and a slash. No more combos or master slash. Shields still work though.

It's not like you're missing much. Even when at max level on hardcore, all you can do is master strike a hit and stab anyway with vanilla. If you try to combo you'll get master strike back by a bandit in no armour.

If anyone is reading this. I recommend getting the mod that turn off or lower the AI's masterstriking probability significantly, rather than getting this mod and throw out the entire combat system when that major flaw can be completely fix without nuking the entire thing. This mod basically turns KCD into inferior Skyrim

    In Steamapps/Common/KingdomComeDeliverance folder
    you add text document user.cfg
then you test, then you endorse

if you have another mod with user.cfg
you use all the text on one user.cfg file

You will control view with mouse not weapon direction
Your view will move when you are hit
Your view will lock enemy if they grasp you

    great mod

Does this mod not work anymore?
Or how do i install this mod?
The video that is linked is not telling how to install this mod but some other. Also the video explains 2 locations for mods to be installed.

If it still works. Can someone actually say where it should be installed to work?

It doesn't seem to be working for me. Is this is the right place to put it? C:\Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\user.cfg ?
I'm trying to run away from 4 heavily armored Cumans I blundered into in a forest and lead them back to a town not far away so the guards can help, but this one guy is right behind me and the camera gets hijacked every time he gets close.

I left a half-meter distance for the clinch. Therefore, with a strong approach to the enemy, the camera will lock-on
