Hello everyone, sorry for a week-long silence, real life interfered.
There were a couple posts reporting that the mod 1) stopped working after 1.7.1 and 2) was crashing someone's game. I'm currently on 1.7.1 (Steam) and the mod is still working; perhaps the issue only happens on GOG version? I'm open to help with troubleshooting, but first please try the usual (that is, try loading the game with only this mod enabled), to eliminate the possibility of a mod conflict.
As for the crash report, unfortunately the user did not reply to my request for details.
The major issue with this mod and the reason I just can't use it, is that by enabling the enemy AI to put the polearm in their inventory they will always opt to use whatever other weapon they have instead. This mod just won't be complete until someone mods enemy AI to prefer polearms if they have them. Until then, using this mod means that you will never see enemies using polearms. Honestly, I just want a mod that enables the skill to be tracked on the stat page. I couldn't care less about being able to keep them in your inventory.
The "More Polearms" mod and, by extension, the "Spearman's Delight" mod both managed top get around this bug, but both of those mods are vastly outdated. I'd recommend taking a look at those mods and what they did if you need a reference on getting this bug sorted.
it's the almost the end of the year 2023.... it's been a while so i think it's safe to ask...... what have you turned up, if anything at all, in this polearm department? Is there one in existence that you approve of?
1. Open Tables.pak in \KingdomComeDeliverance\Data with decompression software 2. Extract weapon_class.xml which is in Libs\Tables\item folder in Tables.pak 3. Search for [weapon_equip_slot_id="4"] in weapon_class.xml, rewrite it as [weapon_equip_slot_id="0"], and save it. 4. Replace weapon_class.xml in zzz_polearmsfix.pak with the file edited in 3. 5. enjoy!
I use the software called Explzh. However, KingdomCome's .pak file is recognized as a .zip file, so it can be opened with most decompression software. Try dragging and dropping to the unzip software or rewriting the extension to .zip
Mod not working for me, I can loot the polearms off of corpses, however I can't equip them from my inventory. I need to drop it and then pick it up to use it, but then I can't unequip it and have it stay in my inventory, also the skill no longer appears
Mod halfworks with BoB DLC. It reveals polearms skill, but no perks there. Not a single weapon is equipable. Shoud be great to update to BoB and combine it with perkaholic :).
1.8 patch broke it again. Sigh. I would love to see an even simpler mod, that would just allow to glitching a polearm out to just stay in inventory, like it sometimes does when you do some rare interactions, but on demand. There is no need in polearm skill to be visible anyway.
I am new to modding KCD but have done it for other games. How / where do I get / put a mod folder? I can't quite figure out how to install this mod and make it work.
NVM I'm dumb and could have just googled that. Got it working now. Thanks! For anyone who was wondering like I was, you literally just create a folder called Mods under the base KCD folder.

Yes I can use polearm but my character cant attack properly and also perks are not visible.

While this does enable the Polearm skill tree, it's ultimately broken I think.
No one actually has a polearm anywhere on the map after installing, so pretty much defeats the purpose.
Sure wish some modders were inspired to give this another fix.
