It's working for me now! When you unpack the zip-file (copy the data-file en the mod.manifest) Then make a new folder, in the folder Mods and name this AltDog en paste the 2 files (data-file en the mod.manifest) in this folder and then it was working for me. The problem is when you unzip the file, it's not make a folder AltDog where it's refer to it.
Three possibilities. 1 Load a saved game. 2 Reinstall DLC A Woman's Lot (don't know if that is possible or will help) 3 Try Jester.zip on nexus mods. The mod allowed me to reset and complete a failed quest that had timed out. I needed to read through all the comments to figure out how to use it.
I really like this version of Mutt, however I had to switch it because I kept getting him confused with bandits dogs mid fight :( don't wanna accidentally hit my boy. Thank you still though!
I would not worry too much. I once tried to use Yew longbow on horseback and shot my horsie in the back of his head. He dropped dead. It took awhile but he did resurrect. He wasn't moving very well and gave me attitude for the next few miles. But later, all was good as new and he accepted my apology. He knows I could not bear to trade him in like last year's car. Instead, a mod gave him a stat upgrade. Its just me and my Pebbles through thick and thin. Someday I'll get the doggo. I like mine fuzzy.
I installed the mod and it worked with KCD version 1.9.2 mrburn101982 & YoungOldGamer mods with the "soul.xml" file may overwrite the alternate dog mod. You can edit the soul.xml file yourself:
1) in your KCD main folder is the "Mods" folder 2) in the "Mods" folder seach for .pak files 3) open the .pak files with winrar and search for the file "soul.xml". Folder structure >>> Libs/Tables/rpg/soul.xml 4) if it is there extract the "soul.xml" to your desktop 5) open the soul.xml with Notepad++ (maybe also works with the windows editor or wordpad) 6) make a search (Strg + F) for "player_dogCompanion_vorech" (that is the line you have to edit) 7) exchange the "character_body_id=" value with one of the three options from below
Default color = cf88f73-35cf-4689-86fa-f995fdca46c0 Brown with white belly = ae281705-0a63-48dd-8e56-b06d69a090c4 Brown and hairy = 68c31da2-7611-4976-ab98-952d13749e32
8) save the soul.xml 9) make a copy of the .pak file you got the "soul.xml" from (in case something went wrong) 10) open the .pak file you got the "soul.xml" from and navigate to the soul.xml 11) delete the old "soul.xml" file and add your own
Hello I am trying to get the mod to work. I looked in soul.xml for the entry and see that it matches the default("character_body_id=68c31da2-7611-4976-ab98-952d13749e32). But yet, the dog still looks vanilla and is not overwritten with the wolfhound. I have also tried the alternate versions but nothing changes. Does anyone have any other ideas what to try?
Anyone know if this will effect bandits/cuman dogs? This is what I am hoping for. A bigger target and easier to see when fighting. Also a bigger enemy dog would make more sense given how OP they are in the game.
Do you have other mods installed? Try the dog mod without other mods to see if it gets overwritten. If the answer is yes you have to follow the guide I made on 27 December 2020 (see below).
The annoying dog howling has been changed to barking. The dog still does the howling animation while barking (once). It was tested with KCD version 1.9.2 but it should work with 1.9.0+
Install: 1) Download: https://www.file-upload.net/download-14466430/NoDogHowl.zip.html 2) Unzip the .zip file and put the "NoDogHowl" folder in your Mods folder.
Is anyone still maintaining this mod, because its not working on the latest version of KCD. I installed it with Vortex, and when I load the game, it's still the same old Mutt.
Did a check in the console and saw that the Manifest file is missing, is there any way to rectify that?
