The original sword is a bastard sword while in Kingdom Come: Deliverance there are only two categories, short & long swords.
Starting with the 1.0.4 version you can choose between a longsword and shortsword in-game variant.

I noticed a bug - when I block, there is no clashing sound or sparks, as with ordinary swords. Can you fix this, please? Because your sword in my opinion is the most elegant and beautiful weapon and I would like to use it in all my playthroughs, and would like it to sound and spark.

Thank you, are you using the shortsword or longsword version? Now that you mention it I don't think that I payed attention to blocks, I need to do some tests. Have you tried other modded weapons?

Thank you for your quick response. I used both versions - first the shortsword, then the longsword. Yes, I have tried other modded weapons as well - the "Joyeuse" sword, and two nice sabers - "Early Type Ottoman Turkish Kilij" and "15th to 16th Century style Ottoman sword". They have this problem too - no clashing sound or sparks when blocking.

Unfortunately I couldn't get this mod to work; i'm pretty sure I followed the instructions to the letter i.e. I downloaded the mod, created a new folder on the desktop, extracted the mod folder from "winrar" direct to that folder, opened that folder then the KCD mods folder, copied the shortsword folder into the mods folder and ran the game. to test if it worked I opened console commands and typed  add_duke_sword (I also tried copy & pasting the text from the description) and it doesn't recognise the command nor it its showing loading in at all in console commands.

Hi, I just tested this with the latest game version (1.9.6) and it works as expected (Steam version of KC:D, English language).

      Please check that:

      • the game is updated to at least version 1.9.4
      • the files are extracted correctly, the mod's folder is not empty, and there are no other parent folders except Mods
      • you don't have conflicting mods like older ones that replace entire item tables
      • try switching to English if you play in a different language and report back if this is causing the problem

      Thanks!

Hello, thank you for the response. I did some digging as per your suggestions and have found there is a conflict with another mod; I wiped the mod folder then installed "Duke's Sword" mod and it worked fine! now I just have to figure out which one it conflicts with... I'm somewhat new to this modding malarkey so I'm still learning :S  anyway thanks for the help :)

*Edit* It seems the conflict is with a file labelled mod_order.txt  I don't know how to resolve this; it's beyond my current understanding lol :S

The mod_order.txt, besides specifiying the mod load order, also functions as a white-list: only the mods listed in the file are loaded when the game starts and in that particular order. In the absence of the file all mods in the Mods folder are loaded in alphabetical order.

My mods do not include a mod_order.txt. If you have such a file then you must manually add entries for all the other mods you want loaded at start-up.

More info can be found here (see Mod Loading Order): https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Modding_guide_for_KCD

Ok, so I removed the text file (mod_order.txt) completely and it now works fine. I started the installation process from scratch then opened the text file, and the text (DukesSwordMod9051041581854985) was in the text file but still didn't work; I tried loading the game with the text at the top of the list, at the bottom and not at all but in all instances it didn't work. but removing the file entirely allows it to work. I'm not sure of the consequences of doing that but the game and all the mods I have installed seem to load ok (I don't think I have that many mods relatively so the load order is probably not too much of an issue for me)... not too long ago I installed one of your other mods , Baselard Dagger (very good and enjoying it BTW) and had no problems with that, so I'm not really sure what the problem is with this one exactly. Oh well, it works now so that's good I guess... thank you for helping me to resolve this :)

I dragged it to the mods folder, purchased it from the Rattay weapons dealer, and when I finally equipped it, the scabbard was long, and I mistakenly thought I had installed the longsword edition. I was surprising because I thought that it was not only the categories that differed by edition.
However, since hilt is a short, it's a shortsword if you think it's a shortsword, and blade is a long, so it's also a longsword. This way, can be provided the same 3D model to both longsword and shortsword users. what a idea. It’s little interesting.

If the command doesn't work the mod is not installed correctly. Did you use a mod manager? It probably copied the entire contents of the mod archive to the Mods folder. This mod comes in two variants, short & long sword and you must install only one of them, double-check the instructions please. The ID is 36cd17fb-1d08-4497-9d80-55147e2ded97 and it's the same for the two variants.

Just a little detail for the mod description. The term Longsword is used for two handed swords, while a one handed sword is usually called Arming Sword or Short Sword, with the arming sword being a bit longer than the short sword, so this would be more of an arming sword. Great work on the rest!

Thank you, and you're right. I guess it's technically a bastard sword since it's way longer than a short sword and it was used either with one hand or two for armour piercing, considering the pointy tip and the reinforced central rib of the blade. I updated the description.

You have to select a single variant. They use the same unique ID so you can switch between them by swapping the mod files, without impacting inventory.

Pretty much assumed something like that. With all you good folks adding new weapons to the game I wanna try my hand at modding. Where do I begin?
