I wanna try some, but so far I read..yall using DLSS or FSR, whats the point have better textures when you mess up all of them with DLSS and Frame Gen ?
I asume yall able run the game on Experimental first at 80FPS+ ? Then you decide loose another 10-20 FPS on textures ?
I playd whole 318hrs on 1440p EXPERIMENTAL NATIVE 90-120FPS with 15,5GB VRAM used.
I would like have better textures, but so far I cant see how thats possible. Yall have 4090 ???

I have 14900KS and 4080 Super. I dont believe its possible get better looking game than EXPERIMENTAL, with texture mods which exceed VRAM.
I dont see "recomendet" requirements or so...

    Thank you

I have a 4080 super 7800 x3d use dlss 4 which is proven to be superior than 3. Meaning dlss 4 on performance looks as good as 3 quality which is a huge game changer. I play at 4k ultra with only 1 setting set to experimental . I still get over 60 fps unless I go into a heavy wooded forest area but i can just switch to balanced dlss and boom im good. Hell im using a heavy reshade that eats up 15 fps on average and still with all these texture mods at 4k ultra I still get over 60. Saying that if you turn your sharpness to 0 than the modded textures do not get ruined. Oh and who is using frame gen? Unless you pay for puredarks frame gen then why would u use it on what is considered one of the most optimized games released in a long time.

which has performance issues. I use OPTISCALER which adds frame generation to the game. or for patreon money PUREDARK . brilliant help performance

I use OPTISCALER as well, and so far, with all checker's texture mods, I can see the difference. So, whoever said you can't is either lying or hasn't played enough games to notice the texture quality differential. However, that doesn't mean that the game needs frame generation to be played. This game is the most optimized game released in the last 4-5 years.

Billy2smooth when you say "dlss 4 which is proven to be superior than 3" you mean the last versions of the upscaler ("dlss dll 310.2" for example is the last released) is better than the previous ones ? Because I hear a lot of people talking about DLSS 4 or 3 but the more I look into it, the more it looks like theses don't really exist. There's new versions of the upscaler dlss dll that release every 2-3 months which is accessible for all rtx cards, but I can't find a version that belongs to dlss3 and one that belongs to dlss4. And when they say dlss 4 is exclusive to 4000 series, it just look like marketing because if the last upscaler is available, only really FG is exclusive to 4000 series. Sorry if it's a bit off topic, I'm just confused lmao

Yes but I play all games at NATIVE which is so far SUPERIOR by LONG SHOT..I can tell even on my 16:9 32" monitors.
Thats why Im asking, if this has even point..EXPERIMENTAL NATIVE iv SUPERIOR to textures with DLSS and Frame Gen, is it not ?
Nevertheless even tho still my 16GB 4080S with KCDII memory leak (use all memory even tho its unnecessary "bug") I cant add texturess.
+ DLSS takes a LOT from VRAM of course its job is make texture smaller and upscale, right ?
So..how is possible run this with DLSS with less then 24GB VRAM. That memory leak bug doesnt care and game run almost same ?

Even though DLSS upscaling reduces the texture resolution, installing high-quality textures still makes a noticeable difference in visual fidelity, especially in areas where detail is key (like landscapes, buildings, or objects). The reason DLSS works well with less VRAM is that it intelligently uses lower-resolution textures and upscales them to a higher quality, allowing you to maintain performance while reducing VRAM usage. However, this upscaling comes with a tradeoff in terms of fine details – which is why high-res textures are still beneficial for users with enough VRAM, like you.If you’re playing at native resolution, high-quality textures can improve visual clarity and details, especially in things like surface textures, lighting, and shadows. But you're right in saying that DLSS can help reduce the load on VRAM by making the game more efficient without compromising too much on performance. The key is balance. On a system with 16GB VRAM like yours, it’s not unreasonable to install high-quality textures, but if you also enable DLSS, it can help mitigate VRAM usage and maintain smooth performance. To summarize: The benefit of higher-quality textures becomes clear, especially on a high-end GPU like yours, where you’re aiming for a detailed, immersive experience. But DLSS helps optimize and allow for more efficient performance. So yes, it does make sense to install these textures, even with DLSS, because it’ll enhance the visual experience without drastically hurting your performance.

Hmmm, I understand but I really "hate" DLSS at every game so far, I try it by NATIVE is so much clear, I dont use Depth of Field neither.,
I dont like bluriness, I set everything for maximum, sharp & clean picture. In every game...
I watch all perf non-stop by PresentMon and only KCDII with that "memory leak bug" can take that much VRAM even Horizon II at max take 10,5GB
only and other games doesnt come close. Cyberpunk after 2.21 us broken from 100FPS+ I get 30FPS now...so if I dont wanna use DLSS an FG,
and Devs doesnt resolve that issue...I reckon cant try texture mods (with 15,5GB VRAM used) cause of it right now ?
The game uses only 8GB of RAM but whole VRAM (I dont forced 16GB cap in .cfg because I dont have FPS drops).
Im gonna take a shot but Im trying to wait for 1.2 update, maybe they fixes that with more than 1000 fixes there.
My GPU is chilling at 64°C even on maximum but that 16GB is weak point for sure...

If you're worried about VRAM usage, optimized texture mods are designed to use roughly the same amount as the game's original textures while improving visual quality. They replace default textures with higher-quality versions but stay within the same memory footprint by using efficient compression and mipmapping.Even if the game has a memory leak issue, an optimized texture mod shouldn’t make things worse, it won’t increase VRAM usage beyond what the game already consumes. You can try them without much risk, especially if your GPU is handling temperatures well. Waiting for the 1.2 update makes sense, but if you want to experiment, optimized textures should work fine even with your current setup.

DLSS 4 at quality looks basically the same as DLSS native.
and yes there is a massive difference between DLSS 4 and DLSS 3

So i've been having an issue and i'm not sure if it's this mod but the only graphical enhancing mods i use are yours and i guess the LUT changing one if you count that.

But i have an issue with these small beds where if i look at one or its in my view, my game drops 20-30fps and it stops as soon as they are out of my view. Again, don't know if its related to this mod but figured it was worth a mention. I'm using the optimal version and my build is

    4080 Super
    i7-13700k
    32gb RAM
    2TB nvme ssd

Thanks for the report! If you have time, try disabling the mod and check if the issue still occurs. But honestly, I highly doubt it's related to the mod itself. The devs have already announced that some areas cause FPS drops, and this will likely be addressed in the upcoming game update (version 1.2).

I am facing the same issue and it is happening exactly at every bed or anywhere when so many textures overlap !
It's the textures of the bed and cloths that is eating out all FPS.

I am not an expert on the matter but it feels like the textures are overlapping infinitly .
Also this happened when I killed alot in sig's camp, the bodies on top of each other caused that same thing.

This is not related to an update as it only started to happen for me after installing a mod.
I can confirm removing your mod didn't fix the issue, so I removed all of my mods to test out the source of this and it's caused by the game it self with no mods still my fps dropped to 14 fps while looking at a bed.
Also it only happens in the 2nd region of the game.

This bug is all over the internet on reddit and steam community.

This is not related to the mod. I've also been having this issue where my FPS goes from 120 to 20 while looking at these types of bed.

Also to add up similar bug cause by fps is the speed and time when you fast travel is slower in the 2nd region it takes longer and also when skipping the time the wheel is slower.
  6. Thanks for the nice mod. Was experiencing some ctd's on start up from these mods, but I deduced that it might have been my vram maxing out, with all of them enabled.

You're welcome! Simply choose the optimized versions, and you shouldn't have any issues. The optimized versions use almost the same amount of VRAM as the vanilla game.

I haven't tested it, but it's possible that some textures could be compatible with certain adjustments. KCD1 and KCD2 use similar technologies, but there are differences in materials and lighting. If I have time, I might look into it. Thank you!
