Thx. I was looking for a Mod to fail every check. Its just to funny if henry is just not able to convince anyone XD

This makes the game SO much better. Because you have to pay your way out or you get punished. Talking away everything was just boring.

So really, thanks a lot for this mod!

Sorry, but if people can't figure out how to go "up"/"back" a directory in Windows or find their game's installation folder through Steam/Epic/etc, I honestly don't feel like they should even be trying to modify files on their system and should take the time to learn how to use their computer first... My hobby is making mods, not teaching people how to use Windows...

      UPDATE:

It works now, the trade off is that most of my mods dont work. not sure how something as trivial as removing the ability to fail is so difficult to implement lmao

      UPDATE 2:
Ok so let me write this out so anyone looking at the posts under this mod can understand.

for some reason this mod comes with its own "Mods" file that it is contained within. This mods file cannot exist alongside your existing mods file, it will either not work, or the rest of your mods will not work. you cannot put your mods within this new mods file either, that does not work. I made it so the file wasn't read only, that did not work.

I have never seen a mod work this way and have never needed to do anything like this with any mods me or friends of mine have made, it seems insanely strange and unnecessary.

I mean no disrespect to the author, I'm sure this must be a major skill issue on my part, it must be. But from the experience that I've had so far, I can say this is the worst experience I've had with a kcd2 mod. its a shame because its so convenient haha.

There's no "Mods" file in this, just a "Mods" folder, which you can 100% for sure merge with an existing "Mods" folder by extracting the contents of the zip file to your game's installation folder, as stated (or just copy the contents of this "Mods" folder into your existing folder)..

Edit: Why did I include the "Mods" folder? In my opinion, a better question is why don't other modders for this game do so? This (and KCD1) are basically the only games I've ever seen where the default manual installation instructions for mods aren't "Extract to the root game install folder", and there's no good reason why not.

The "PassAllSkillChecks" folder should go into your mods folder... Simply extracting the zip file's contents to your main KCD2 installation folder will do this, as the description says to do... I offered you an alternative method is all, being that you can open the zip file, open the "Mods" folder inside of it, then copy the "PassAllSkillChecks" folder directly to your "Mods" folder... Same result in the end either way (the folder is in the "Mods" folder along with other mods)...

Honestly, if you can't figure this out, you should probably be using Vortex and not trying to manage mods manually... All you have to do is open a zip file, then drag-and-drop the contents to your game's install folder... Really can't get much simpler than that... Windows shouldn't even prompt you with anything unless this mod's folder already exists in your game's "Mods" folder...

      another update,

all of my mods dont work lmao, i deleted your mod and now my whole shabang is screwed. this is all so strange
I highly suggest to uninstall all mods and start using Vortex. If you choose not to, please stop posting, as none of your issues have anything to do with this mod, just your own user error...

Sorry, but I was rather dumb and bought the game on Epic (because I just use it more, tbh... Gotta get those free games), not Steam, so can't do Steam Workshop... I'll likely end up buying it on Steam at some point, but probably not until it's on some kind of sale, and if I do then I'll look into trying to convert it (no idea how the tools work to know how easy that may be yet)...

I have just started playing but are there scenes like the drinking with Godwin in KCD1 that can be missed by passing dialog checks? That cutscene and the quest that went with it was the funniest in the game but required to fail the check. I used to get dirty and wear crappy clothes just to not pass it.

sometimes you gonna miss some explanations which can lead to a lower experience in the game

The install instructions in the description pretty clearly state to extract to the main KCD2 install folder, not the "Mods" folder (I don't know why people modding this game decided that extracting to the "Mods" folder directly was better, but not all mods go in the "Mods" folder, so I don't think it should be that way, so I'm not following suit)...

dude ive been looking for a mod that makes speech checks easier to fail for forever, not ridiculously just enough to not feel overpowered for second map, and im so happy. thank you! ill check it out right away

I assume this works for guards too? i pass all the time, like I choked a guy and told another guy that watched me that I was practicing fighting techniques and he let me go... like dude xD so hopefully this makes things harder for me!

edit: the mod is way better than with vanilla, but I was wondering if you could make the dialog speech checks to be even harder? not impossible but just not to feel overpowered; would appreciate it immensely!

      Hey there fellow V :)

I assume you didn't mean you wanted a file that always failed skill checks... If you did, I can still make that, but for now I made one that just slightly increases the "difficulty" of them... I'm not really sure how high I could set the values while still being able to pass the harder checks that should be passable, though, so didn't go very extreme (the game uses a value of '1000' for impossible skill checks, and -1000 for skill checks that always pass... The easiest checks you can pass have a default value of -10 and the hardest a default of 10... So not entirely sure what values between -1000 and -10 or between 10 and 1000 will do, but this increases the value for the hardest passable check from 10 to 12 and also adjusts all other passable checks to be a bit harder, too) ... I can release alternate variants that do go more extreme if needed, though...

Yeah, I think one that'd make Henry fail every skill check would be hilarious.
Replaying Disco Elysium, but failing every check is when I realized how much fun something like that could be in this game.

      Edit: Thanks for the update!
