is there a way to show the reticle during contests!!? because it disappears in shooting contests. also, unlike kcd 1 here the arrows hit never reproduce the same action, like sometimes far above, sometimes less far.
aiming in this game is off the crosshair reticle !!
It's a literal skill issue. You have to level up your marksmanship for the sway to stop being so aggressive, and you also have to shoot immediately after raising the weapon, because it gives you a second or so of low sway before it starts moving all over the place. So, practice literally makes perfect. It astounds me that people still do not understand how this game works..
Obscene911, you totally missed the point, that wasn't at all what he was asking. saaher, yes there is a console command you can put in your user.cfg: "wh_w_aimbyprojectile=0", this will make the projectiles hit exactly on target. As for the other question, about showing the reticle during contests, well that is why I am here in the first place.
Obscene911 - I get what you are trying to say and I think both of us are a little confused of what saaher is/was trying to convay.
If I understand what OP is trying to get across to us is that whenever you let arrows loose or bolts loose they don't produce the same effect or action when aiming at a target ie. aiming and then letting loose goes high of the target and/or aiming and letting loose goes low of the target. But it's like you say, this could just be a literal skill issue and therefore the player will need to practice more in order to hit targets more effectively and accurately. I currently have level 48 markmanship and the sway has reduced quite considerably and I can land more of my shots on my target but I don't always let loose from my crosshair or where my reticle is pointed at, I look beyond my weapon and instinctively know where my arrows or bolts are going to land based on practising with said weapons, even though I miss around 1 in 12 shots.
DeadMansTale: "also, unlike kcd 1 here the arrows hit never reproduce the same action, like sometimes far above, sometimes less far. "
This is due to many factors, including sway induced by the strain required to operate the weapon, Henry's skill levels and perks, and the type of weapon being used. Every bow, crossbow and gun have different kinematics variables depending on interactions between the weapon's stats and Henry's, resulting in varying vectors like displacement, magnitude, angle and velocity.
Sway comes into play once you've been aiming for longer than a couple of seconds. This is mitigated to a degree by leveling or applying in-game skills and perks. That was my point. I was specifically referring to this comment. Once you attain the correct skills and understand how archery works in this game, the sway almost becomes a non-issue. You have to raise, aim and shoot all very quickly, even after leveling marksmanship and attaining the skills, because like in real life, once you've held the bow or crossbow for a while, your muscles begin to wane and your steadiness falls off a cliff. You have to aim and shoot almost in one fluid motion.
As far as vertical axis is concerned, that will get better as you level up and attain perks.
So, we still do not have a mod that makes the reticle stay during tournaments/contests... no cheat command, or user.cfg line that remains persistent during tournaments. Sad, here's hoping someone figures this one out. For me during castle defense and hunting I'm far less concerned about needing the reticle than during contests!
Yeah, I haven't yet found the source in the game files that forces the reticle off in that situation. If someone can find it, we could add a pak to the mod to also change that.
I don't consider myself stupid, but I thought this ONLY works with bows, crossbows and guns? When I install it, its permanently enabled and the description does not say that explicitly, please explain if I am missing some crucial information or simply misunderstood.
There's an in-game setting to enable or disable the reticle. You should use that if you don't want it on screen all the time.
Also, if you were to read the description...
Note that the in-game option to show/hide the reticle will not work when wielding bows/crossbows/guns while using this mod. The reticle will still toggle in all other contexts.
1. Thank you for making the mod. 2. Is the Center of the Screen = where your bow is aimed at? (I've seen some mods add that dot but bow shots somewhere else) 3. Would you add some screenshots for comparison, please? 4. Why not for Crossbows? _Crossbows has a weird arrow fall off so they don't go straight)
Thanks a lot. When I first used crossbow (game intro) the bolts had this fall-off effect. they fell below the center in an unrealistic way (crossbow bolts go straight for a lot longer) so I aimed and the bolt first went to the center then fell 20~30% below the center dot so I had to aim higher to hit targets. This isn't cool for some precision headshots.
I was wondering if your mod compensates for that. As in the dot is exactly where the arrow/bot with go. Been waiting for this mod since the game release.
Not only bows, but also crossbows. There is no difference between reticle and simply aiming at the tip of the arrow/bolt, the hit will be higher anyway.
Keep playing, there are a few perks that increase speed and dropoff of your ranged weapons, I don't know them off the top of my head but obviously in Marksmanship and I think there is another perk tree that reduces drop off or increases draw power (something along those lines).
