Adding another comment to make it easier to see. RTX 3060 6GB (Laptop)
I'm back to report that I got a really nice FPS boost. I used to play at MEDIUM quality and usually got 50-60 FPS (DLSS P) and now I am getting 80 FPS!
I played at HIGH quality for a couple hours and can confirm it is now somewhat playable! 30 FPS in intense scenes with many light sources and 50-60 FPS on average!
Nice! R7700 + 4070 without mode fps went 119 -> 108 after changing global illumination from high to ultra. With this mode 120 -> 118 and on experimental 117. Tested it standing still somewhere in Kuttenberg during sunset. Now I can play rest of the game with this setting on ultra+ and enjoy less unnatural pitch black places and corners. Thank you
Could this mod cause issues with flickering of shadows? I saw a mod that improves global ilumination and in its description it said async should be disabled because it can cause issues with his mod and global ilumination in general.
Personally, I've used them both at the same time and didn't have any issues. I'm on a RTX 3080Ti with latest Nvidia driver. It seems that perhaps certain cards with certain drivers may have an issue with flickering, while others do not.
Thank you. I have the 3090ti and though I usually like to push games with mods, ima stick to just this mod for now because im still just in my first play through and dont feel like testing rn.
I had a similar issue at the beginning with this mod on RTX 3060 12GB VRAM. But I no longer have it, maybe it was related to some graphical settings instead.
Killer mod. 30+ FPS vs vanilla performance (112 - 143 at 1440p with Optiscaler FSR4) at the beginning scene playground. Done on a 9070xt/9800x3d if it helps. Endorsed!
Edit: Overclock with the mod leads to 155 fps on the same spot, for a 40% performance improvement over vanilla. It seems to increase overclock benefits?....
Yes! Since it's basically going to use 100% of your GPU, having a higher clock speed lets you fit in more asynchronous computations per second, resulting in that extra FPS.
I think it's more of an "accessibility" thing. Because sometimes you can have performance regression on weak hardware. Not all are able to enjoy the 4090, unfortunately.
Some of us have high refresh rate screens (eg 160hz in my case) and are obsessed with fluidity. 100 fps is good, 160 fps is even better, it's really that simple.
Edit: forgot to mention, this mod is not useless for everyone on a 4090. I also own a 4090, and i do see about a 10% uplift with this mod while playing at 4K (DLSS 4 Transformer "K" model on Quality) on Experimental settings. Combined with a framegen mod, this nets me 120 - 150 fps 95% of the time.
I found one @itizNomad; Optiscaler mod on github. Its decent, adds fsr3. Theres some henry shadow flickering when moving (fast ground so fsr3 gets confused) but its pretty good, minimal latency. (I prefer no frame gen)

This took me from 120 ish FPS to 200+ on a 4090 with everything on Ultra. Wild.
Nice results!
i have a serious problem
