The issue is not with feeding, it's with fighting. Again, try to attack the dog or let the enemy attack him and tell me your obedience doesn't go down
because for me when I'm using your mod (btw look at its structure, it's nothing like the original mod lol) - the dog runs away if you hit him and if enemies hit him his obedience drops.
I've seen it go down when I smack him, but once he returns it's often at 80-90ish, then returns to 100 a bit later. The point is, the damn dog requires no food or pats. Just ignore the mutt, kick his ass, and he'll still obey. Mod works.
Just to add, this mod does seem to work, but the obedience level hasn't ever hit 100 for me personally. It seems to fluctuate from 60-70, and sometimes as low as 30, but never actually goes below that. So for me, and I'm guessing others, it doesn't actually keep it at 100 so it seems that it's not working, but it is. Not sure what causes it. I actually waited a long time to get Mutt, and I installed this mod before I did it, so he started at a value of around 50 I think. I have been feeding him here and there simply to build skill, and I did notice when I did that it would sometimes actually lower obedience by a lot. Again, didn't actually do anything, but it does give the impression it isn't working.
Played with it off and on all day though, and he probably only ran off like 3 times due to getting beat on by human enemies. He does come back fairly quick though, so it's not really an issue. If I had to manage obedience myself I'd just send him away and forget about him honestly, so that's totally acceptable.
It's been quite a few days since. It still happens the same way. Whenever he runs off from being hit too much during combat (I say human enemies since fights with wolves he has never run from) he will come back shortly with the same 60-70 range. No other times does he run off, it's just during fights with human enemies that hit him a good few times.
Other than that there's no issues unless being under 100 obedience has declining benefits, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Personally I'm not bothered that he runs off in fights occasionally since it doesn't last long until he's back, just thought it was interesting there seems to be varied experiences with where the obedience level stays.
Edit: So looking at what someone else said about it being different in the sidekick panel, I had just been looking at the section below the horse stats. When I checked his level on the sidekick section, it was 99 while the other section was 75. Waited for 3 hours just to see and it went up to 100 while remaining 75 on the other window. So aside from the running away in combat, it seems it's just not always displaying 100 even though it probably is.
On the first map, I liked feeding the dog, but on the second, it became a little stressful. Thanks to this fashion, I don't have to constantly monitor loyalty, and feed the dog only when I want to.
So the mod was updated, tried it again. Even sent Mutt back home and came to get him again. Nothing. Still when he's fighting his obedience drops, so the mod still doesn't work I suppose.
The MOD ID in the manifest file still doesn't match the xml in the last version the author uploaded. Either you or the author needs to change it like in Nard's first post. You can just use notepad to edit the file.
Or you can use one of the pak editors mentioned in Nard's second post and just edit the xml filename in the original mod files (first version the author uploaded) and leave the mod ID alone
Should your dog's obedience fall when you're fighting or not? Does this mod make it so that obedience never drops lower than 100 no matter what? Because I did the xml file renaming stuff and obedience still drops when fighting
It does that even without the mod. So what's the point in it then? I thought the mod will keep dog's obedience on 100 no matter what happen. Otherwise it does nothing.
Unfortunately, this one doesn't seem to work either beethy, got Mutt to 100% 5 minutes later he's back to 99%.
Manually added to the mod folder and added to the mod_order file, obedience still decreases. 😣
EDIT: What I have noticed though, is the obedience level is different in the character preview window (at the bottom) to what it says in the Sidekick window, character preview window shows 68% while the sidekick window is telling me it's now 97%
EDIT2: OK, so I tried dismissing Mutt back Home, waited 24 hours and then spoke to the innkeeper to get Mutt back, his obedience seems to be staying now at 100%, so anyone having issues may want to try that.
Mod does not load. From kcd.log Mod mods/Obedient_dog/mod.manifest has invalid ModId. ModId accepts only lowercase letters and underscore. [Mod] Obedient_dog not found
To anyone who has crashes after manually editing the pak file, you CAN NOT change what is inside the pak with Winrar. You NEED special tools like PAK BUILDER or AUTO PACKER. Extract the contents of the Obedient_dog.pak file, rename the buff__perk_dog.xml to buff__perk__obedient_dog.xml, then repack it using pak tools. Some people said 7-Zip also works, unlike Winrar, but I didn't test it.
Don't change the modid or the name of the pak file; let's skip those steps. Just change the name of the XML file to buff__perk__obedient_dog.xml

Could you update the mod please. The version I used was on the files tab not the one by Beethy in the posts.
Download it here.
Check your logs

After sleeping a few hours mutt's obedience is locked at 100 :-3
