This definitely still works after the patch and will most likely never break from an update because its a simple console command and kcd1 was the same and never changed. Just tested 70 hours in with over 1000 saves (I removed most when I run out of save slots and archived them) with zero schnapps in my inventory and it works fine. You might be talking about "Unlimited Saves II" mod which lets you unlimited save by pressing f5 and is a actual mod that is placed in the mod folder. My "mod" lets you save unlimited amount of times through "Save Game" in the pause menu by automatically activating a console command cheat when the game launches.
Not sure your issues, It works perfectly for me and like I said its activating a simple console command. Check to make sure your launch options are still what they're supposed to be. If thats not it try reinstalling, but I have no clue why it wouldn't be working. Again make sure you're talking about the pause menu save and NOT F5 save. And make sure you're not in combat, dialog, or cutscenes because the default game wont let you save at those moments.
Someone has solved the problem of the game crashing during saving? I have tried deleting the mod and reinstalling it, and it worked to continue the game, but after saving several tasks in the game, it crashed again. But I have tried deleting the mod and reinstalling it again, and this method no longer works. What other solutions are there?
Its very likely another mod or a bug in game try removing other mods 1 by 1 or verifying game cache. This is a simple console command activating, its not a real "mod" therefore should not cause any problems you speak of. Its literally just activating something thats already built into the game.
This fixes it: https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance2/mods/1765?tab=description
The crash on save issue is caused by the <UserMods> having over 400 entries. The saving system in KCD does not replace these entries if you update a mod, causing the save file eventually to corrupt and cause a heap corruption crash upon saving again. On loading/saving, there is a chance the entire <UsedMods> gets duplicated, this can also contribute to the save eventually reaching 400 entries and crashing.
This tool sort of fixes this issue by Clearing <UserMods> entirely from save while maintaining the binary structure so you can load it. However until warhorse fixes the bugs that cause your save to be piled with <UserMods> duplicate entries, you will have to occasionally run this tool a few times. You can check your own save with a plaintext editor.
Thanks for your answer. I don't have any other mods, I don't even have a mod folder. How can l check if i have another thing that could be making this crash? Maybe reinstalling the game? I'm kinda desperate and don't wanna lose my progress in the game. Any help appreciated.
Don't give up hope, its definitely not this mod since this isn't even a real mod its a .txt file changed to .cfg it operates exactly as it did in KCD1. And I tested it myself today no issues. >"I dont want to lose my progress in the game" I recommend you go to cdrive/users/(your profile/pc name)/Saved Games/kingdomcome2/saves and back up the "saves" folder that will make sure that whatever happens you wont lose your saves. As for the error I'm not sure, the googling I did they all came back to mods being the issue with that error. Maybe check the kcd.log thats located in steam/steamapps/common/KingdomComeDeliverance2 and scroll to the bottom to see if there is anything that stands out like "loading X failed" or something along those lines. Or any explanation to why it crashes within the log. Remember the most recent things in kcd.log would be at the very bottom. Maybe try verifying integrity of game files by right clicking KCD2 in your library going to properties then "Installed Files" tab
THANK YOU. I did the back up just in case, but yeah, the problem was the integrity of game files after the patch, so i did what you told me, everything is fine now :)
I wanted to throw in another recommendation/support.
I had that error box as well, kcd.log even had(has?) a "[Error] 'user.cfg' -> invalid configuration line: 'wh_sys_NoSavePotion 1'" line. This is definitely a red herring, also if I remember correctly, this isn't new since the 1.2 update.
My issue wasn't that I had an old/bad mod, or this single line of code in user.cfg, it was user error, I hadn't downloaded the helmet of the dragonborn set. Another good thing to check.
hi i feel dumb about this but i genuinely don't know if i'm missing something lol. i'm able to save without consuming schnapps no problem, but at a certain point it makes me delete previous saves in order to create a new save. i have the correct command in the launch options and moved the user.cfg to the root menu. it doesn't crash at all, but does seem to have an upper limit. is this working as intended and i just need to save less hahah
You ran out of save slots, I think its around 300. All you need to do is go to cdrive/users/(your profile/pc name)/Saved Games/kingdomcome2/saves and back up the "saves" folder somewhere then while you are in game, alt + tab and delete all your saves except your most recent one then you have another 299 saves you can make. It has to be deleted while in game or steam cloud saves will overwrite it and add back all you saves.
oh i didn't think to back it up, thanks! i guess i can also delete some saves but it's so tedious. during some hard missions i kept saving after every small amount of progress i made between dying or getting caught
