It came to my attention that mod breaks NPC names in the recent update and doesn't like self-activated hardcore mode. Here's the thing...
I'll be honest, I've stopped working on this mod a while ago, however I think I know how to make it not break the names.
Right now I've got 2 possible fixes in my mind. First one will 100% work, but will have it's downsides. If I remove the Localization pack, the mod will no longer overwrite any names, and will not conflict with patches that add/change the localization. However the horses names will be back to original, ex. Aethon > Soldier.
The second one would have no downsides, but I would need to learn how to separate changed names from the rest of the file without breaking it. Assuming it works, I would then need to remake every single localization option I've made so far, so even then it's gonna be tedious.
I'll apply the 1st fix available as an optional file and I'll try to make the 2nd option work in the meantime.
I encountered a bug which meant I couldn't join the tournament after installing the mod. I'd approach Menhart to ask him to join and this didn't come up as an option. Once I deleted the file and spoke to Menhart again I was able to talk to him about the tournament as normal.
This is a real shame as I enjoyed roaming the world on Attila but not at the cost of being locked out of a significant side-activity.
Came to this mod's comments because as of 4/17 people have found how to activate hardcore mode. However, this mod breaks that in the same way that it breaks certain npcs. This is very disappointing as I love this mod. I didn't realize this mod was causing the NPC naming issues too, that was something I was willing to deal with and not willing to bisect my mods for. The HC perks were too much though, so I went through manually installing/removing mods 1 by one until the perks showed up. Naturally this was one of the last mods I tested, as I didn't expect horses to break UI.
Screenshots included of the HC menu when this is installed vs npt:
By having translated horse names for every language I had to edit the NPCnames file, so I'm not surprised that it conflicts with a patch changing names.
No idea why it breaks perk names, as they should be stored elsewhere.
can you do the same thing for Veillantif? i started a new walkthrough and I don't know how to do it myself. can you please replace it with any horse from Semin? sorry for asking...
Hello, I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but I have an issue when I try to remove the mod to test another one that modifies the stats and appearance of all the horses. Even after properly removing your mod, the game still remembers that I can only buy the three horses (which look ugly now) and completely blocks the purchase of all the others. I already tried looking into the IPL_gamedata.pak file since I saw that’s where the files are located. Even after restoring the original ones, the game still behaves incorrectly. Do you know why? Thanks! 😉
Mod is supposed to go in /mods folder, and all changes should disappear completely after you remove it and no files need to be restored.
I originally made another mod that I based this mod on, and I just tested that I can swap between them with no issues, and horses go back to their original stats/appearances.
With the info you provided my best guess is that game always goes buggy when you directly edit .pak files. PAK files are supposed to be built with an external tool. If you edited original IPL_gamedata.pak or reverse engineered my mod it's probably the case, as I bugged my game before with horses being randomized and all NPC being naked for example.
Assuming you installed and uninstalled mod correctly and your game became weird, best way to fix it is to temporarily move mods elsewhere and reinstall/verify files on Steam.
No worries, I never modify the game files directly. I installed the game twice so I could have a clean backup for testing. But in this case, the game's "libs" files are vanilla. I initially installed the mod using Vortex (even though this software drives me crazy). The mod works fine, no issues with that. However, when I try to remove the mod during a save that had it, the game still considers that I can buy those three horses and blocks me. They are still watching me with their vanilla name and color, even without your mod. Yet, even after fully restoring the files, the game keeps blocking me on this. It's probably a save issue, considering how messed up they are. I'll test out of curiosity by using a save that never had the mod to see if everything goes back to normal.
Erf even with a new save without your mod, i really dont understand I take picture to show you. Do you know what is happening? as i said, i did well in mods folder using nexus. I use my backup files but still the same https://files.fm/u/zzvagn6s9h -- I downloaded again the game, vanilla without mod, they are still here xD and same for seller x))

- Added temporary fix for NPC names.

I think that shouldn't be hard to fix... I'll take a look on my next day off. (I'm working full time)

Please consider remedying this.

I've added a fix in the download section.
I really wanted Attila

Horses appearance looks to be randomized, I had this issue a few times when I made a mistake with modding or corrupted .pak files.
Did you remove all mods and loaded a save? Are horses "ugly" then?
If yes, did you try removing all mods and then loading a save on the clean, vanilla game? Is it still broken?
