It's beyond absurd that during the "QA" tests of this game this issue wasn't brought up or addressed. They literally credit the QA testers in the game-- LOL
Yeah I dont understand how almost every game, even with legitimate testers, can miss such obvious glaring issues, tested by what, by who, do they lobotomize them first, so many questions.
As someone who worked in QA, I can guarantee you that this issue has been flagged by QA during development and tracked by their issue tracking platform, but likely was never deemed more critical than crashes, quest or otherwise game breaking bugs and thus not getting assigned to someone as they had more important stuff to do to get the game to launch.
Now everyone will be busy working on the first major patch for the game (addressing probably a few thousands of bug reports since release) and recertifying the build for consoles. I doubt this will be fixed in this patch either and instead further down the line.
which is simply really bad practice -- to me it shows Warhorse doesn't understand the way people play games. Sure they make beautiful worlds and great stories, but they fundamentally miss the mark about "what makes a game fun to play" in so many ways.
Oh hi, we're warhorse, we give you a dog. People love dogs! you'll want to feed your dog, so that your dog is happy! Oh wait, the HARDEST F***ING PART OF THE GAME IS FINDING FLAT GROUND FOR THE FOOD.
Don't get me started on birds nests.
It's just bad code man.
I started a new game yesterday to test ALL of 1.2. I left this mod uninstalled **assuming* that Warhorse would fix this glaring issue. Just got Mutt back, and much to my chagrin - borked still.
I am not faulting or hating on QA testers btw, I am hating on devs who use/abuse them and then ignore the issues. I'd rather Warhorse take the Jagex approach (which they already did by releasing an unfinished game) and just let the players know that we're the unpaid QA tester interns.
it's simple. being too critique and reporting the same issue on and on because it wasn't solved by just checking a mark will get you fired. So these people are getting trained to not to report things.
And then there are the way "things" get tested. It's not tested in a playthrough as it should be, it's tested in a test enviroment. It's probalby a plain room were someone cheats Mutt in and feeds him. It's not that someone is playing the game in the process. Or at least playing in a normal game enviroment.
IF there are testers at all as it's not unusual that games come out in beta status. Well...we are way bejond alpha status with most games. Let's see it positive. Was there a gigantic first day patch to make the game even work?
@Loki'theSmokey: All I can say is play KCD1. There you also got the dog and it's very annoying as it's always staying below you and is pushing you away. The dog was often pushing me away so I stole stuff. They did improve a lot of things. But they still made huge mistakes that everyone should see quickly. (tried never feed the dog without dried food?) :D
And thanks for the update. Without the mod Mutt would made me mad...so he's the perfect wolf tracking system in the woods.
This a f*#@ing godsend fix. Thank you. I had to find a flat area just to give food to Mutt. It was so effin annoying this food kept rolling and rolling and rolling.
+1 for this easy fix and -100000000000000000000000 to the fucktards at Warhorse QA department
I took another look through the files to see what I can do and I may have found a solution however I do not have time to fully test this, I did some quick test with some nests that I could find near hills but it was only a couple I tested and it seemed to help.
I was informed it wasnty working adn when I tested it myself saw it wasnt so i figured it wasnt. Was it actually doing what it was supposed to for you. It only affected 35 perk buffs and I am not sure on all the buffs / perkls I need to find that shouldn't be displayed on the UI pop up, I can always bring it back but I wasn't sure it was working so I didnt want to leave it up.
Yes I activated all the unused perks and some have a missing picture, with your mod its gone making it much nicer! I made a mod activating all perks and wanted to recommend your mod with it since it worked great haha
OK well I re-uploaded a new version that does over 60 of the perk buffs within that file. https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance2/mods/1019?tab=description hopefully it works I have not tested it.
EDIT 2/25/25 - The newer version unrars properly for me and the mod works great, thank you!
nope, doesnt work for me and it is the only mod I have installed. It is in Mods as a Lib dir with a Table dir and then an .xml file so its is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance2\Mods\Libs\Tables\item\item_noRoll.xml
-devmode is my only arg
I attempted to buy new dried meat thinking maybe it needs a new version, 1 venison - still rolls. Made a shortcut and added -devmode as an arg. Still rolls. No clue here. I would like to use this but it's no big deal. I just buy trout or some smoked whatever.
Same for me, doesn't work. Doesn't change the food for some reason. I have Libs folder in my Mods folder aswell. I also extracted it before putting it in there. Wish I could get it working tho
I had to extract with 7zip specifically, just right clicking and choosing "extract all" doesn't work for this mod for some reason, might be the author's mistake, or something else. This is the only mod I've had to use 7zip to extract for it to give the right folder structure. Thanks for the mod Nine, the rolling food was annoying, hope they do an official fix for it. FYI you can click "Preview file contents" on the download to see what the file structure should look like, for any modding noobies.
It's the same with me. I use other mods and I know how to install them. I'm on Linux Mint and I'm using "archive manager" to open it like I would any other zip file. It's a folder called Libs folder, then Tables folder, then items folder, then an xml file. Unfortunately, it's not working for me.
I downloaded the new version and tried it and the same issue is still there. I scrolled up in the console and it says there is no mod.manifest and there isn't in the folder.
Eh. I downloaded and installed winrar with wine and the mod works fine. For whatever reason, "archive manager" for linux mint was giving me problems, but that's 0.2% of computer users.
Its not like its complex files or anything so you would think any extraction program would work, but apparently not for everyone, I thought people were upacking the PAK file inside the mod instead of the actual downloaded rar file containing the entire mod.
I will take a look but probably best I can do is suggest that you command the dog to sit and stay, then feed him, then praise him. It doubles as proper dog interaction etiquette as well.

Thanks much for a very needed mod.

New patch borked it
Deleting the "supports" block from the mod.manifest file has fixed it.Let me know if it helps or not if you have time.
