It works. Even after the website said the exe had a checksum mismatch. I did it anyway and it's working. Incredible. Idling on the world map with no music is surreal
I'm not sure if this patch works for the Japanese version. But to make sure, you said "KHFM". Did you mean KH2FM? This patch is for KH2, not KH1. Sometimes it will let you apply the patch even though there is a checksum mismatch, did you try patching anyway or it didn't let you?
If it still doesn't work, you can pretty easily modify your .exe by yourself. Download a Hex Editor (like HxD) and open your exe.
Search for this (there should only be one result): CD CC CC 3D CD CC 4C 3E 9A 99 99 3E
And replace it with this: 00 00 00 00 CD CC 4C 3E 9A 99 99 3E
Then save the exe. This exact method should work for KH1, KH2, ReCoM, BBS, and DDD.
Unfortunately it sounds like the Japanese exe is different from other versions, since applying the patch caused a crash. I could be wrong, but I think it would have to be entirely re-made to work with that version. The Re-Fixed creator isn’t making KH mods anymore so that definitely isn’t happening
I’m afraid it’s not that simple. That disable subtitles mod is applied with KHPCPatchManager. That program may or may not work with all versions of the game.
The problem is it was created by editing the font of the subtitles, which is a different file in Japanese.
The location of the file I edited in the game files is:
kh1_first.hed/remastered/exchange/UK_kanji.knj
In that folder, I used a hex editor like HxD to fill all the files with nothing but 00’s. If KHPCPatchManager works with the JP version, you can use it to unpack and re-pack the files in the equivalent location of your game.
Ah, I checked it out earlier, but never tried it out since I had a newer version and not 1.0.0.0. Tried it out now tho, and it worked perfectly. Thank you very much.

but I can't thank you enough for this
Thank you so much for making this, I applied your guide in dream drop distance and it also worked
How do I apply this patch?

I asked the same question on Re-Fixed for 1FM, but didn't get a reply, so I asked it here.
I was able to apply the patch even with a checksum mismatch, but I cannot launch the game.
I was able to mute it the way you taught me. Thank you very much.
However, I would like to introduce a patch such as Re-Fixed for 1FM, is there any way to do that?

One more question, can I use HxD to get the Japanese version of KHfm to work with your Disable Subtitles?
