Hm, weird. When you open the Reshade window, you should see a lot of effects, some of the boxes are ticked. There are two sharpening effects used (= ticked), please try unticking one of them and tell me if it helps. I play on 1440p (no supersampling). Do you have supersampling enabled?
No my supersampling is disabled. And yes, I have tried to untick one of the 2 sharp. effects and it get just a little better. I tried even to untick both that makes the game even better but not good so I think the problem is somewhere else cos it's not like your pictures. Sorry for that. I was very eager to use this mod in my game.
What I wanted to know is if the problem was due to the resolution (because I don't have a 4K screen to test it). If so, I could let a friend test it and try to create a version suitable for 4K. But if you say the resolution was not the problem, I have to search somewhere else.
I think I owe you an apology, Hinti21. I thought I had done everything for playing 4K but I was only on 1080p. So after that I rectified that everything is very good Thus even your mod. I thank you very much for this very good piece of work...... :) :) :)
Your mod is really great, but I have to unable one of the sharpeners. How can I do that so it keeps unabled? It switches back often without reason. Edit: I found out!
Well this preset along with ReShade (I used Setup_6.3.3_without mod support) and it worked very well at sharpening KOA (FATE version). Though, some errors did show up using this preset and Reshade...but some can be just ignored. As well some reshade features with this preset for me had to be disabled and or other features had to be enabled for my game to look clean and so much sharper. But this preset removed the fog and some of the edging blur.
And being new to using the Reshade tool, what a huge difference that excellent tool made using the right video rendering and sharpening settings (and there are so many to go through to find the ones that tweaked to make my game play awesome).
Ok, for anyone who has no idea about this sort of thing. Just choose Direct X 10/11/12 when starting reshade. Like others have said, there are TWO sharpening effects you will see in ReShade that for some will just make the game look an absolute mess. I disabled them both and it was ok, however I notice more pop-in whilst playing now?
I have to note as well that ReShade is giving me 2 errors when I boot up Amalur. The first is "[SuperDepth3D_VR+.fx] failed to compile" and the second is "[qUINT_ssr.fx] failed to compile". I have no idea if these things will effect my performance or if they are the reason for the pop-in I can see in the background.
Final update: I assume the mod files here replace other ReShade files to make sure everything works, but "[qUINT_ssr.fx] failed to compile" file basically errors back when the author of this mod made these settings. Since then, ReShade no longer ignores the "[qUINT_ssr.fx] failed to compile" error and actively bypasses it with a new version. My suggestion is to either skip this file from the downloads here on the nexus page, OR run ReShade again after and ONLY update that particular file in the list. This will stop any possible errors relating to it later. The other error is to do with VR only and you can ignore it.
I still have a bit of pop in but over all it's looking good. If anyone can figure out why those sharpening settings make the game look so bad for some, that would be swell as I'll reapply them if there are any updates.
Looks great and crisp, but I decided to go with another one with SweetFX since I couldn't figure out how to adjust the light quality properly. Endorsed though.
Btw, to clarify. The issue I had was at first, it was too dark. Then I turned off DPX (I think) and it was a bit too light (not bright), kind of like muted daylight even in darker areas and night time. In other words, I didn't need a torch or lamp in the area at all, the ambient light turned it all into pratically daylight lol.
I would really love to used this one, IF I can figure out how to get it to look like the screenshots that are shown. Btw, I tried ReShade 5.8.0 and 5.9.2. Should I have maybe used an older version? (actually I don't even know where to get an older version lol)
P.S. Also, I got one error during startup when choosing Direct3D 10, something about srr or ssr or some file that was either not loading or maybe missing. This was on Windows 7 Pro, latest GOG version 1.10 (cs: 15032 I think). Maybe I'll give it another shot tonight and tweak stuff.
This is the only reshade for Amalur that looks really good, trust me. If you find the sharpness a bit to much you can adjust it in the reshade settings. Awesome reshade, well done !
I love your mod man, it remove all of the grit, grime, and blurness and allow me to see the good new texures of the remaster. I will tell my friends about this one.
its actually very easy, in the main directory of your game delete the reshade-shaders Folder then delete dxgi.dll dxgi.log reshade.ini and default preset.ini and your good to go man

did you just change the game resolution to 4k or did you change something else with the filters?
thanks in advance
