I have updated the main page to contain a tutorial video on how to successfully bypass the czerka administration level when playing on Android OS by Negative Zero, many thanks to him for uploading a solution that allows us to all finish this wonderful mod while on the go. -Greg.
Hey all! I'm looking to incorperate improvements to this mod on the Nexus Page, please contact me if you would like your improvments added. I am not a prolific mod author, only able to edit basic things, but I am hoping to bundle a modern package to BOSSR including bug fixes whenever they are made by users. If you have fixed anything in the mod or made any efforts to improve it, let me know so I can either incorperate it in the main file, as an optional addon, or link to it so that your mod gets the love it deserves. Thanks! -Greg
If you're like me and play for the story, not much caring for the combat or gameplay, I strongly suggest you watch a playthrough instead. This mod has great writing, set pieces, and lore moments but the combat segments and difficulty are both excessive for someone like me who isn't playing for that.
I have it downloaded just now and it does look interesting, but before I install, is this compatible with the KotOR 1 Restored mod? For someone who's into PC game modding, I need to know whether it's possible to receive both the full experience and something extra...
Avoid K1R. It's restorations are half-assed at best and hardlocking at worst. The pazaak tournament needed a fix from deadlystream otherwise you are hardlocked, Lashowe on Korriban is immortal etcetera. BOSSR is a quality mod on the other hand, though incompatible with hidden Bek control room restoration due to a door hardlock. Reddit builds claim restorations are unnecessary for K1 and they are right, learned the hard way.
I am unable to extract the file after manually downloading it for some reason. It gets hung up on a file named SAVEGAME.sav. Would love to try the mod though.
i know this thread is old but i had the same issue. for everyone having this issue do what happELA suggested and use 7zip. WINRAR and any other file extractor crashes after savegame.sav
If you're doing a canon playthrough, DO NOT PLAY! I was, and the infuriating slog that this mod turned into after acquiring Shadow as a follower is unforgivable. The mod reuses maps from both kotor 1 and 2, albeit they're filled with random assets to make it feel less empty, which it also fails. There's so much clutter and there's no indication of what you interact with vs what is just there for show. In addition....the Korribam Wastes. A shameless, open sandbox level (literally sand ..it's tatooine's dune sea) that gives you no sense of direction and basically baits you into going the wrong way in order to force a dialogue scene from Shadow. I ran around this area aimlessly for about an hour because there is no clear objective or marked direction to it. I'm sure that it's in the dialogue somewhere, but the writing and rather unenthusiastic voice acting had me skipping dialogue whenever possible, because, not to sound like Mr Macky but....it's bad. It's real bad. Not to mention, this huge open section has invisible walls that, right when you think you can explore...BOOM invisible wall. A regular sentiment I'm finding online, one one I agree with, is that this mod is designed to reel you in, and keep you there as long as possible. Enemies are needlessly spongy, most dialogue is reusing the alien voices (this by itself is ok), but the cutscenes have both forced dialogue options as well as pauses that seem to be for "dramatic effect", but only manage to make this already sloggy mess even more of a chore than it already is. But the most egregious sin of all? The fact that there are sponge enemies says to me that the author either doesn't understand, or simply didn't bother to implement, the D20 system that gives the game it's tabletop charm. Even when you kill these spongy enemies, you're only getting 100xp per. So the author clearly tried to tie this mod into the main story, but completely failed at bringing over the charm of the D20 system because it's not really thought through, it's someone's fan fic addition to the canon that, I'm sorry, adds nothing interesting, and feels more "cobbled together" than it does a full fledged mod. This, combined with triggering the mod halfway through the game in the first place, makes you feel under leveled the entire mod, even though at this point in the game most players are gonna be already into the 15-20 level range, almost max already. It's also very buggy. This mod triggers after the leviathan, but let me assure you there are bugs added throughout the game, that you WILL encounter, before you can even access the mod (Looking at you invincible Lashowe). It's unfortunate to say, but I wholeheartedly recommend skipping this mod altogether of you are doing canon playthroughs or min/maxing. My last thought captures below is just my opinion, and I would also like to take this time to commend the author, because though it wasn't for me, I am not a stranger to how much time and effort goes into a mod, especially one of this size. Thank you for taking the time to bring your vision to life and I HOPE THIS DOES NOT DISSUADE YOU FROM MAKING, IMPROVING MODS! Closest I've ever gotten to modding is replacing files in a game, so you are well ahead of me in this aspect friend. But still, my thought persists:
"This mod is such a chore. I'm not even listening/ reading the dialogue anymore. I am actually considering reverting back to a save and just skipping it completely."
@Gregthegen, I may have an addition to your suggested mod list as early as "by the end of the year." It's not fully completed yet but I can give you a sneak preview if you contact me on DeadlyStream via PM.
@Gregthegen, I guess you didn't want to see a sneak preview but maybe everyone else will want to see what I've made for BOSSR to modernize the mod right over here: https://deadlystream.com/files/file/2621-brotherhood-of-shadow-solomons-revenge-video-enhancement-project/
Was away from Nexus for a time, SH and I have since spoken and i've happily updated the mod list, if anyone else has any other BOS edits they want shouted out, please post them here in the comments! Even if I am away, others may see them!
I hate whenever this bug happens to me, its random and rare but I have experienced it, unsure of how to fix as the bug is usually caused by a seperate mod overriding the character slot or the BOSSR mod installer being partially blocked. Only fix i know of is to use a kotor save game editor to edit shadows appearence, but even then it can be a hit or miss, but on the plus side, shadow can look like a twilek again or if you want, a wookie!
Is this the same version of the mod that is on deadly stream? Theirs is 1.5 yours states 1.1. The version numbers with this mod are confusing bc even the 1.5 version uses 1.0 and 1.1 nomenclature in their filenames, despite being 1.5. :s
There was an attempt to merge the patch that came with the mod along with a couple of other minor fixes and the result was the "1.5" patch, due to reports of people having issues with 1.5, I've refrained from updating the nexus one to it. Some people find that the 1.5 works better for them.
However, If I see a generational improvement to the mod in a 2.0 or 1.7 version of the mod, then I will upload it here if the ones who made the extra edits allow.

Also, when and where in the game do I launch the story? And how?
This is the error I experience when trying to extract
