This mod will allow you to play as Hera Syndulla based on the components from JediJosh920 character creator elements. It primarily tries to copy the official
Lego minifigure of Hera but with the constraints of the creator. Hera is classified as a Hero using the base animation set of Jessika Pava. While in the
open world or on a level, open the character selection tab (the menu from the character creator and not the main game character selection) and select
"Hera Syndulla"
Installation
Drop the .DAT file into folder created by JediJosh's character creator. For Steam it could potentially be in this file location: [C or D]:\Program Files
(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\LEGO Star Wars - The Skywalker Saga\scripts\CharacterCustomizer
Other Questions
Wait! Did you manage to get mods running again on the latest build of LSWSS? Is there a patch or so to get the script hook running again?
No, not that I could find, nor do I have the skills to understand .dll files and how they are processed. Instead, I decided to downgrade my game to the
build that came out early July when the script hook was last working. Getting the mods to run was more of an interest to me than ensuring light saber colors
and other minor things were fixed. Seeing that it has been over a month without the script hook being patched and the new character packs not arriving until
November, made me want to downgrade.
How did you downgrade? I looked to see if there were previous builds in the Beta tab section in Steam, but I could not find anything.
I found an incredibly useful guide posted about 6 years ago regarding downgrading Steam games. Not sure how links are handled by Nexus, but
the reddit guide can be found under the first result of “how to download older versions of a game on steam” on Google. SteamDB catalogs the app ID, depot ID,
and Manifest ID of a majority of Steam games. My interpretation of this is: 1. What is the game. 2. What part of the game do you want to look into. And 3. What
version of that part was uploaded to the Steam Servers. You can request to download [Not from SteamDB but from Steam directly] the core game build that
was released in July by using the command code in the Steam app console: download_depot <appid> <depotid> [<target manifestid>]. The line I entered
was “download_depot 920210 920211 1043231855415197514” [without the quotes] to get the core game build released on July 4th. WARNING: it is a 38GB download as you are essentially downloading the main core game again. The files were stored in the “[C or D]:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content” folder. And no, you cannot just use this to download any game as Steam checks if you have the key prior to launching the game. I moved my most updated game out to a backup location under my documents and moved the files from the content folder into the main game directory. The character packs and the script hook/mod elements can be left in the main directory as the character packs have not been updated since May. To verify that you have the July build, you can quickly test these three things: Rey Skywalker’s yellow light-saber is shorter than other characters’ sabers, Ahsoka, when going from an idle animation to defense (right mouse button) does not always pull out both sabers until you attack, and the bar tender in the Mos Eisley cantina can be mind controlled by a Jedi or Sith (patched out in August). Script Hook will run again in all of its unstable glory, but at least it works. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to downgrade files on systems outside of Steam, so I am not much help there.
Won’t Steam try and repatch the directory?
Yes, but there is a way around it. First off, I adjusted the automatic update to only update it when I launch it [to prevent it from downloading the patch while away]. (There is no way to turn that feature off that I know of) Then, I launch it from the executable within the game directory itself and not the launch button on the steam app. It has consistently worked for me without requesting to update the files. I also have the latest files backed up as well in the event that Script Hook gets patched and I’ll then run on the latest version.
How did you get Hera to animate like that? I don’t see that option for her in the character class setting in the creator?
It cannot be done within the game due to the class limitations in the creator, however, the .DAT file of your saved character can be edited simply by opening it with Notepad. The very first string (before the comma) is the character you are requesting to overlay the appearance onto. This also transfers the animations and voices as well. Hera is “replacing” Chars/Minifig/JessikaPava/JessikaPava.prefab_baked. If you find a character that you want your figure to emulate, you can open CustomizerData.dat (from JediJosh’s mod) and copy the baked string of said character to the first section of your character’s data string. Save, then fire up the game and load your character. It should emulate the character you chose to replace.
