For some reason it doesn't work with other mods such as Pipboy900's
A Blue Heeler named Dinki Di
MFP Interceptor over Shovelface
Mel Gibson as Max
Vintage Style Mad Max Logo
ThinRedPaste's Black and Chrome pack F430GTC's No Intro Video and missing DLC that cannot be purchased on steam, but i download them from guide https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2856521970
Thank you for sharing. For a somewhat working map and menu open d3dx.ini and change the key settings at line 89 to the following: [Key1] Key = VK_TAB x = 1 type = toggle [Key2] Key = caps x = 0 type = toggle [Key3] Key = H z = 0 type = toggle [Key4] Key = VK_ESCAPE x = 1 type = toggle
That way hitting escape or tab will bring the hud back and remove it on a second press. If the keys don't work correctly after loading the game or after fast traveling via map open the map and then press escape three times to make it work again. For a working crosshair while aiming add the following: [Key5] Key = RBUTTON x = 1 type = hold delay = 300
Hi @TheJanitor I wonder if you could help me to understand how to disable only some parts of the HUD. Or even make a mod that does that. I researched for several hours and came to only partial information.
However, as we all know, changing these does nothing. I checked it against the game's main exe file. The same options are present there, no errors--I initially thought that this might be the thing.
So far I've found out that if I change something else in settings.ini, it changes in the game alright. When I deleted the other file--settings.sav--from the C:\Users\%currentuser%\Documents\WB Games\Mad Max the game took some "default config" out of nowhere which differed from the actual settings stored in settings.ini.
I wonder what is going on. Perhaps the HUD settings never really got implemented, only made it to the settings.ini file as some form of preparation or something. Idk. It would be so great to be able to play the game without those obnoxious mission objectives icons, enemy icons, fighting prompts, and loot icons, but at the same time with the minimap, health bars, quest descriptions on.
Mister, you are amazing. The menu disappearing text it's not a problem at all, it's even better. I was able to do myself a video screen saver using wallpaper engine from mad max main menu with desert without text.
For those looking to rebind the HUD toggle key theres also another method, you can use steam input with something like a PS4 controller which has a touchpad that is unused in game but doesnt have an XBOX button equivalent.
Edit the layout, select the trackpad, and set the centre trackpad as a "single button" assigned to the keyboard key CAPSLOCK (key1).
Same can be done for the H key (key3) if wanted to remove the additional HUD elements.
Also @TheJanitor you should add your comment regarding rebinding the keys to the mods description for ease of access :)

For a somewhat working map and menu open d3dx.ini and change the key settings at line 89 to the following:
[Key1]
Key = VK_TAB
x = 1
type = toggle
[Key2]
Key = caps
x = 0
type = toggle
[Key3]
Key = H
z = 0
type = toggle
[Key4]
Key = VK_ESCAPE
x = 1
type = toggle
That way hitting escape or tab will bring the hud back and remove it on a second press. If the keys don't work correctly after loading the game or after fast traveling via map open the map and then press escape three times to make it work again.
For a working crosshair while aiming add the following:
[Key5]
Key = RBUTTON
x = 1
type = hold
delay = 300
I saw that there is this in Settings.ini
[Hud]
HudHud=0
HudMiniMap=0
HudHealthBars=0
HudLootIcons=0
HudCombatPrompts,=0
HudFuryMeter=0
HudEnemyHealthbars=0
HudMissionWaypointMarkers=0
HudMissionObjectiveNotifications,=0
HudGeneralNotifications=0

[Key2]
Key = XB_RIGHT_THUMB
x = 0
type = toggle
Then just change XB_RIGHT_THUMB to any of the following:
XB_A
XB_B
XB_X
XB_Y
XB_START
XB_BACK
XB_GUIDE
XB_DPAD_RIGHT
XB_DPAD_LEFT
XB_DPAD_UP
XB_DPAD_DOWN
XB_RIGHT_SHOULDER
XB_LEFT_SHOULDER
XB_RIGHT_THUMB
XB_LEFT_THUMB
XB_LEFT_TRIGGER
XB_RIGHT_TRIGGER
