I don't play the definitive edition for reasons obvious, but I've also heard that you can fix the cloth bug also by removing the following lines from \EDIT\APEX\Cloth\ClothRemapTable.xml: <ApexClothModel>VITOL1</ApexClothModel> <ApexClothModel>VITOL2</ApexClothModel> <ApexClothModel>VITPRA</ApexClothModel> <ApexClothModel>VITVOV</ApexClothModel> Supposedly this works because the bug only affects Vito. Also apparently some of the physx effects are missing from the definitive edition but can be restored by coping the Effects folder in \EDIT\APEX from classic to the same location in definitive, here's a video:
Well sh*t. For everyone, removing these 4 lines really fixes the problem. I gave it a try with a backup cuz i doubted, but surprizingly the cloting physx got fixed very well.
PhysX works perfectly, for both particles and cloth, if you play fullscreen (not borderless) and limit the frames to 60. You must choose highest preset-setting before tweaking the settings manually, though, to get the game to set "high PhysX" in your settings file. Alternatively you can activate it manually in settings.xml (documents\my games\Mafia II Definitive Edition\<game ID>\settings.xml) by setting <Apex>2</Apex>, if the number is 1 or 0.
So I did the fix and instead of it looking how it did in the example video it seems like its toned down a little bit and glitches out a lot more, am I doing something wrong? Just to clarify yes the Physx are working for the coat just not very well. It's almost like the clothing physics are activated but they are just on low. I am not running any of the graphics presets such as low, high, or medium simply because I hate Chromatic Aberration. However before I disabled CA it was set to high.
I read on his Steam post that: ""BEFORE YOU START: Go to the in-game video settings and set it to HIGH preset. NOT CUSTOM. You can edit the settings later."" This might help you. Or it is just a limitation of the engine itself.

Also another possible fix: Change <Apex>0</Apex> from 0 to 3 in the "settings.xml'' file in C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Mafia II Definitive Edition\Data\profiles\<your number>
Is there a way to completely remove PhysX (except for clothing) for AMD users? The game runs like absolute crap compared to the original due to PhysX. Thank in advance
If that doesn't work, set the graphics settings to low. Then restart the game and change each setting manually to whatever you want. Don't touch the preset, it will automatically change to "custom".

It's just so sad that there is no way to fix NPC clothing not having any physics (they had in Mafia 2 original).
