This is a plugin for Mod Organizer 2 that allows for the management of Marvel Rivals mods on steam.

Finally an easy(ish) way of managing modding Marvel Rivals season 1.

For those unfamiliar, Mod Organizer 2 uses a virtual file system allowing for the installation and de-installation of mods without the need to keep backups of the original files or to reinstall the game for a fresh unmodded experience.

I will self admit to not being the best when it comes to making an easy to follow tutorial. Here's my best attempt and I encourage anyone with more experience in that category to make a new one somewhere that's easier to follow.

As a forward, any update to the game can break mods any number of ways. It could update and re-enable the base files (such as new characters being added) such that you need to re-extract and disable them. The devs have also stated the modding is against their TOS so it isn't outside the realm of possibility that they start banning those that use them or simply implement yet another set of checks to stop them and make this plugin worthless.
TLDR - Mod Responsibly, enjoy them while we still have them

:INSTALLATION:
(1)Download and install Mod Organizer 2 if you don't already have it.
(2)Extract the zip file into this directory inside MO2: "plugins\basic_games\games"
(3)Open MO2 and make a new instance and select Marvel Rivals as the game. Disable automatic archive validation when creating the instance.
(4)Profit! (And a little more work to get things actually going)

:USAGE:
SETTING UP BASE FILES INSIDE MOD ORGANIZER 2
(1)Your gonna want to use FModel to extract the base files such as character or audio. There are plenty of written and video tutorials out there to help you.

(2)Same as those tutorials you will need to disable the files you extracted so that the loose files will work. As an example, if you extracted the character and vfx pak you can add ".bak" to the end of pakchunkCharacter-Windows.pak to temporarily disable the pak. You need only Delete the ".bak" to re-enable the original pak file which would of course stop loose file mods from functioning

(3)Right click inside MO2 and select "create empty mod" naming it Base Files or anything of that sort so that you can remember what they are.

(4)Right click the empty mod you just created and select "Open In Explorer"

(5)Recreate the Marvel Rivals content directory. The Mod should look like this when done correctly:
 "NAME OF YOUR MOD\MarvelGame\Marvel\Content\Marvel"
(6)Paste your extracted base files into the final marvel folder

(7)Back in MO2 you can now enable that base files mod and your ready to go!

INSTALLING AND USING MODS
(1)Find a mod that you'd like to use. If it's already setup for season 1 then you can use it right away. If not, then you'll have to use a tool to extract the pak file into loose files you can use.

(2)If the mod is on the nexus you can link your nexus account to MO2 and click the "Mod Manager Download" button to download the mod directly to MO2. If it isn't on the nexus, or you prefer to not link and manually download the file, then right click inside MO2 and select "Install Mod...". This will bring up a window where you can select and install the downloaded zip file.

(3)Once in the install screen you'll have to make sure the files are going to the correct directory. Most ready-for-season-1 mods are already setup in their correct directory. All you have to do is add a new folder in the install screen name "MarvelGame" then drag the mod folder into it.
An example of a correctly made folder structure for an invisible woman skin mod: "MarvelGame\Marvel\Content\Marvel\Characters\1050\etc..."

(4)Click install then check the box next to the mod to enable it.

(5)Now launch Marvel Rivals through Mod Organizer. This is important. If you launch the game through steam your mods will NOT be enabled.
