This DRASTICALLY improved swinging performance on HDD. I previously played without dstorage dlls (threw them in a different folder) and it chugged quite a lot in open world, the game froze while loading in stuff. With this, it rarely chugs and even when that happens, it's like 2-3 seconds max instead of 10
it works just fine i was playing the game with no dll since it was fixed but i wanted to try this mod to see if it was better, i downloaded specialk and the mod and this has done wonders and specialk helped optimize better because (i have 8gb vram) in game i was using 5 available when it should be like 6.50gb or 6.32gb, os+apps basically was using more than 1.5gb vram (it was 3gbvram i was getting consumed)
Download it through the page and run it, there is a code u have to put in the launch options of the game on steam (if u need more details add me on my discord: azrealking
game was made to support directstorage so I wouldn't recommend that but, with these updated DLLs it's probably fixed any problems it had before but i'm not sure it works for everyone since it needs to be tested on a variety of hardware
Marvel's Spider Man 2 - PC Performance / Unstable FPS Fix
By deleting the dstorage.dll and dstoragecore.dll , you managed to eliminate the frame rate drop of 15 to 50 FPS that occurred when spinning rapidly in crowded areas. Now, even with 4K DLSS set to Quality mode, the frame rates are stable and smooth.
Gaming / OBS Recording / on same PC It runs buttery smooth on my TV
I just checked, deleting these two files really gives +15-20 frames in crowded places. How does it even work? Are there any risks for and the game by deleting these files?
@Djvwrlacnf. I also had a black screen after the sony intro with but that was Overstrike's problem. 1) delete 'toc' and 'toc.BAK' from game's folder; 2) verify game files through Steam or EGS — that will download fresh 'toc'; 3) install mods as usual — that'll copy fresh 'toc' into 'toc.BAK'.

Are there any risks for and the game by deleting these files? the game uses directstorage gpu decompression, deleting the directstorage dlls means youre just doing regular old non-direct storage decompression which is cpu only. better to just use special k and disable gpu decompression
the thing is this mod reduce texture pobing and better than the older version that come with the game but at a cost of more crashes so for now the best thing is removing direct storage files
that's not true, this game doesn't use specific big amount of data decompression, its best to let CPU handle decompression with almost no performance hit on CPU than to lose framerates for letting it use VRAM and GPU Power consumption, won't matter much if you have a High End GPU with big amounts of VRAM

But still update these DLLs, it does help with performance.
