It's no secret, that SM2 has realy bad perfromance across all Settings and PC Hardware, this simple Regedit aims to fix that.

Recently, I switched from my 4K TV to a brand-new 1440p gaming monitor. What I noticed, though, is that Spider-Man 2, even at a lower resolution, still ran the same—giving me 40–80 FPS in freeroam on my RX9070XT with maxed settings (only RT Reflections on) and FSR 4 set to Performance.
I tried Frame Generation (FG), and it only gave me 10–20 FPS more, which didn’t seem right. So I dug deeper and found out that two specific DLLs from a registry edit were eating up the entire GPU performance.
This simple Regedit mod aims to fix that. After applying it, my performance skyrocketed to 360+ FPS all of a sudden! I could even truly max out all settings—including ray tracing—and set FSR 4 to Quality with FG on, and now I get 290+ FPS*, it also improved my Frame Times which sat at 17-24ms to 3.1-3.9ms now.
So try it out! I'm sure it’ll help a lot of people out. This should help as a bandaid fix until Insomniac fully irons out the optimization on theire side for thsi game.
The ZIP includes two registry edits:
*Obviously, the max FPS will vary a lot from setup to setup as well from area to area in the game (some areas might still drop to 70-90fps, but you'll gain a noticeable boost nonetheless in FPS and 1% lows. Some older GPUs might not benefit from it. This is not an direct game files fix, that is up to Insomniac to iron out.
Edit: After some extensive testing Freeroam could still be very taxing still the avg FPS gain for me in Freeroam was 20-30fps which is nothing to sneeze at and esp 1% Low's have improved creating less stutter esp in very crowded area.
I've seen some reported the deletinon file might not work in case you can check it manually by following these instructions
How to:
- Press Win+R and type in Regedit
- go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers
- Delete the TdrDdDelay and TrdDelay
This will fully remove the Regedit entries.
