Can this replace the breather helmet that the game defaults to in hostile environments? I have it ready for my current LE trilogy playthru but am still on ME1.
It's always going to pick the first viable breather helmet which is the original helmet unless you have ESA which has a side effect that can make it default to these.
ESA removes all the helmets, then adds their mask, and then adds the helmets back again so their mask is first. This mod gets loaded first though so in the end these helmets will be before the ESA mask.
If you want a specific one, right click the this mod in the mod manager and "open mod folder" then "DLC_MOD_ABM > CookedPCConsole > BIOGame.ini". In the ini file, each line is one of the helmets and they're in order of when they appear in-game in the armor locker. So copy the line that start with "+HelmetAppearances" of the helmet you want and paste it at the top and delete the old one.
Oh my god, THANK YOU Mistyvale!! I have been trawling through the ESA posts trying to find a commenter who could explain how to change the default helmet and all I could see is the mod dev being shitty about "No I won't support this I bend over backwards for you entitled asshats already, if you don't know how to do it already then I sure as hell won't say a damn thing about it go and write your own mod" without a single commenter actually explaining how to go about it. Legitimately if that mod wasn't bloody required for the ones that I actually want I wouldn't have touched the damn thing.
Edit: For anyone in the future wondering how to find the helmet ID of the one you want, just save your game wearing it, then use the save editor to take a peak at the raw data.
I tried doing this for ESA and it didn't work. Does the default breather line have to be deleted for it to work? and if I delete the default breather from BIOGame.ini, what happens for characters like Jack who tend to use the breather a lot?
I'm liking this with ESA. ESA let's you select armor before a mission, but if you pick a helmet before a mission you'll keep it till the end. When I go to the Shadow Broker Base, hard to kiss Liara with a helmet. With this the helmet is auto selected instead of the breather. Already have Liara in armor from another mod that comes with a helmet, usually bring Garrus and he totally has a helmet, so it's great to also have Shepard in a helmet that comes off for the interior of the ship
My second biggest issue with ESA as well, after the authors seeming disdain for anyone using his mod with any level of criticism. And he outright refuses to tell anyone how to change the default helmet as well. I'm just lucky I managed to find this mod with Mistyvale explaining how to do just that.
hey, i do enjoy this mod, but i seam to be having a minor issue, on the LE2 version there are two helmets that are having this issue image with the other helmet it is covering up the full face as well, i didn't see any compatibility issues listed on the mod page, the green looks like the same color as the armor lights i chose from MLE Armors (LE2) i don't know if its connected, but i thought i would include it. thank you and have a good day
You're right, its from the new lights personalization slider. That mask has no lights so I didn't bother setting up the texture correctly and relied on the material instead which the new slider is changing.
Hey there Mistyvail, love the mod. So much so that this is the first mod page I've actually commented on. Anyway, I wanted to ask if it were possible for you to make a version of that Mandalorian inspired breather with a visor that's completely dark like Din's. Even something similar to the one in images 4 & 8 would be great for my Mando inspired playthrough. If not, then no worries.
Lets say i would be willing to pay via patreon or some other way. Would it be possible to get the Breather Helmet in ME 1 on all the time or most time. Bonus if we can swap with the Blue suns or other helmet variants ? I mean i have hopping for so long that a mods would eventually come out or an update as you can see i am still looking here and there.
Hi! I love this new breather mask variety; As a helmet fan, I love it.
I just have one small nitpick: The helmet brim just above the glass visor for these new masks looks kinda... squished in compared to the standard n7 helmet and breather mask. Is this a small shadow glitch?

I have it fixed and I'll update tomorrow.
fits perfectly with the ESA, adding the ability to use a standard helmet with new armor. Applause!
Made it opaque and less reflective; looks pretty good.
This is installed the same way as the other file in Patriks post below.
Link the files for it, but I won't change it in the mod itself.

Open the mod folder, drag and drop depending on the game LE2 or LE3 should be easy.
