When making a non-tech character, vanguard in this case, when I scroll over to the omnitool equippable the game just crashes. Tried re-installing with new playthroughs twice, both times same freeze. Is this an incompatibility with streamlined weapon loadouts? Love the idea for the mod, please let me know if there's any suggestions. Thank you!
This is almost certainly my fault. I'll look into it. In the meantime, you'll probably have to choose one mod or the other. The inventory screen is about as volatile as a pile of loose TNT so it breaks very easily.
I've had the same issue. Is this issue restricted to v1.1 and will v1.0 work as intended? Edit: Never mind, the issue is with a newer version of the other mod.

Sorry I'm not sure I can port it in the same format for OT and I definitely don't want to do countless compatibility patches for all possible mod combinations.

I made the mistake in assuming I could just do that by selecting existing ID, but that character couldn't use an amp, creating a new Commander Shepard of the same class got the amp

The bars change color sometimes they'll be all green or red. Sometimes different bars will be yellow etc When I change the equipment screen to something other than omni-tools and come back to omni-tools selection screen the bars change colors regardless of whether I equipped anything or not. So if I tried to equip X and switch to the screen again even if I am looking at X to equip. Same with bio amps. Hope that makes sense.
I found out what causing the issue. I assume you using the mod on existing save, not starting new game with the mod, so your Shepard doesn't have starter omni-tool and bioamp equipped. Because of that the game can't equip new item. Equipping is basically swapping one thing for another so you have to have something in the slot to be able to swap it with something else. What you need to do is to use save editor or console command to give your character both bioamp and omni-tool and everything should work as intended afterwards.
A nice touch. The original intent was good on Bioware's part but in reality unless you picked up Singularity or AI Hacking for a Sentinel, Vanguard or Infiltrator, there wasn't much point in picking tech or biotic extra talents for classes that didn't have the ability to equip an omni tool or amp as there would've been no way to improve the power. Even at Master rank most talents have cooldown periods of 30 seconds or higher, requiring taking up valuable armor slots for cooldown reduction mods just to be able to use the powers more than a couple of times during battle.
Thanks. I personally like to take tech power for my vanguard to have some advantage against geth, but like you said it is a bit useless without equipped omni-tool.
actually there is but you can only equip it with glitching on console of mods/commands on PC if i put heavy colossal armor on garrus he gets the heavy armor plating alot of the turian NPCs us it too

i just thing it would be really cool to be able to equip any gear on any character including squad mates imagine liara wearing heavy krogan armor.. it wouldnt actually look like krogan armor it would look like heavy human but she would have the stats from the krogan armor while looking like shes wearing heavy human armor
So far, a bio-amp isn't available for my maleshep infiltrator. Not sure if another mod is interfering, as I've a few qol mods and armor mods loaded, along with the black market license mod, which I guess is a qol mod if you think about it, since life is much easier with a python sniper rifle. Anyway, I've added an amp via the save editor, but it doesn't show up in the equipment screen. I've tried reinstalling the mod, but no glory. I'll next try removing completely, then reloading the mod from the download, but I just wanted to let you know what's going on.
Update, it's just this broshep infiltrator, my femshep Adept from the last run through has an omnitool listed in the equipment screen. Whatever is wrong is likely with this particular career. Not sure what's going on.

I can't use the esc button after I try and equip have to use the back button.
Judging by red and yellow bars you have something equipped.
