PLEASE FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS BEFORE COMMENTING SOMETHING ISN'T WORKING. I AM UNABLE TO TELL WHAT THE ISSUE IS CAUSED BY IF YOU JUST SAY "IT DOESN'T WORK". ANY POSTS THAT IGNORE THIS WILL BE DISREGARDED.
I installed the mod and confirmed that it installed, but when I loaded a new game it wasn't in the mod configuration menu. Yes, I have alliance marine armor for LE1 and Saren stages LE1. But reinstalling the mod thrpugh mod manager one by one, the patch that's supposed to apply for detecting both the alliance marine armor and saren stages is not applicable. It only detects the saren stages mod.
edit: I re-RE installed the single mod through the mod manager after verifying the integrity of the game files and Kaiden initiated the "rescue Ashley" convo. I noticed that it was going to work when i was able to access my inventory in the middle of Saren's final cutscene.
So I ran into the same issue as others, sent Ashley with Kirrahe, Kaiden with the bomb, told Kaiden I'd save him, did so and then immediately the bomb cutscene played and Ashley was invisible but talking about being saved. Reloaded and tried the workarounds (without disabling any mods), tried both versions of telling one I'd save them and trying to save the other. I was able to go to the AA tower but the same thing happened only Kaiden was now invisible, but telling Ashley I'd save her wouldn't let the elevator to save Kaiden work.
Anyway, I disabled all mods except this and community patch and I didn't need any workarounds at all, it worked exactly as it should have, save Kaiden, he tells me we don't have much time, countdown starts, I go and save Ashley, both are saved and visible, no dialogue from anyone about anyone dying, just about having to choose being hard. Saved, re-enabled all my mods, reloaded and everything seems to be working perfectly. Haven't encountered any issues yet and everything's back to normal except I have both squad members. I assume something minor will break in the future like someone mentioning one of them dying (but I can't remember if/when that happens in me1 after this point) but I'll come back and edit this if something more major breaks by the end of the game, otherwise if this remains unedited you can assume that at least until the me2 import everything works fine through this method.
After I installed this mod I played through the entire Virmire mission and went back to the bomb site like it said. For this playthrough I saved Kaidan. When the mission was over and on the debrief cutscene Ash was talking but she was not there. after the debriefing she was nowhere to be found on the Normandy and everyone still had dialog about her death. I reloaded the beginning of the mission and sent Ash to the bombsite this time and again I went back to the bombsite to save her this time. Back on the Normandy in the debriefing Kaidan was invisible but still talking. Now he was missing on the Normandy and there was still dialog about him not surviving the Virmire mission. I'm not sure if this is normal behavior for this mod or not.

Actually I found a way to bypass the bug. I disabled all other mods except Virmire Savior, told Kaidan I'd go save him but went and saved Ashley. And the cutscene with Saren was skipped. And even though the timer didn't show up and I didn't really go back for Kaidan, after the explosion cutscene both were ppresent on the Normandy, just as intended. I hope this helps.

I tried this - telling Kaiden I would save him at the AA tower, then going to the bomb site - but the elevator wouldn't open. So, I tried it again but told them I would go to the bomb site, but the AA tower door was active, so I went there. I intended not to approach Kaiden, but then the cutscene started when I did get close. Sure enough, Kaiden and Ash were both in the debrief.
I had this problem, too, and it turns out the conflicting mod is Saren Boss Encounters. Apparently it's incompatible at this time.
(Boring back story: I ran Virmire Saviour and it was great, but had to rebuild my 200-mod collection after...something happened. When it failed after the rebuild [which included some new mods and updates,] I had to troubleshoot. I uninstalled Saren Boss Encounters, and now it works again.)
This is actually a pretty cool mod, nice even for an alpha. But I wonder, could you make a Virmire SLAUGHTER mod? Like, just kill Ahsley AND Kaidon. No balls?
You need to help think up what's gonna happen during ME2 and ME3 though if you kill both of them. Especially during the beginning missions like on Mars or during Cerberus coup.
Well though if i'm going to pitch in some ideas, then maybe adding a new Alliance character that stationed in Horizon instead of Virmire survivor? ME2 Prologue when Normandy SR-1 got blasted: It's defaulted to Liara instead. Horizon: Random Alliance guy that got introduced here. Maybe he could use Kaidan's voicelines, but need to tweak so it's apparent that they didn't know Shepard. Gotta delete conversation with Joker regarding Virmire survivor as well.
ME3 Now this is the hard part Mars Archive: The random alliance guy again perhaps? Gotta remove Liara's comments on Virmire survivor in the Archive. And they didn't survive getting headbanged by Dr. Eva, so there's no need to go to the hospital. Cerberus Coup: The one helping Udina is a Cerberus spy that got a cover as an Alliance soldier. So it defaulted to the confrontation as on Virmire survivor if Shepard didn't manage to get their trust prior to Cerberus coup. After that the rest should be smooth sail mostly, probably just some commentary during Citadel DLC.
Haha, yeah, I figured. Just yanking some legs. Although if we were really being serious, I actually think with ME3 it may be easier than presumed since I heard you can essentially get this outcome with the Trilogy Save Editor (and I believe I saw a few clips showing the outcome as well) but that's a lot of assumption on my part. Ah well, best to keep it to imagination for now.
