I've found an interesting quirk of this mod - for whatever reason, when you are about to recruit Ashley in Eden Prime she doesn't have he helmet on until she joins the party. In the earlier cutscene she has it, and once she joins she does. But until then she is helmetless! I checked and it is this mod that caused the issue, I'll leave a log for you to look at and se what could have caused it.
Are you certain you don't have the setting that hides helmets in conversations and cutscenes on? That will affect squadmates even before official recruitment. I'm pretty sure I checked this case and if she has her helmet on once she is in the party, she should have it in the cutscene as well, but I can also double check.
Any chance that this mod could be expanded so that you can customise any non squad NPC either by game map (change enemy npc to Cerberus) change random NPC on cidadel to Maranda. either on a Massive scale by map by NPC type or story progression.
Thank you for this mod. I had given up on anyone creating this for LE1. Now I can truly customize my Shepard's appearance for my next LE playthrough.
I presume this means when you add face/hair customization, all the faces/hairstyles from mods can be applied in-game versus having to manually add them through the save editor. I would very much appreciate this ability, and it would make this a must-have QOL mod.
Yes, that is roughly the plan, similar to Appearance Mod Menu for LE3. Like in that case, I will add all of the vanilla options, and hair/complexion modders will need to update their mods to work with this menu, but yes, once that is done you should be able to apply it in game without touching the save editor.
I love this mod! However i have one problem. After the first citadel visit when i go back to normandy and talk to Joker, my femshep outfit is first black without any details and suddenly the details appear. What would be causing this?
There are known issues with the outfits visibly loading in, though usually it is just very low quality textures until the high quality ones load in. Maybe something about the way the textures on that outfit are set up leads to the initial black appearance. I'm not sure there is much I can do about this, unfortunately. I might be able to force them to load in at higher quality, but this would result in visible loading hitches and pauses, which I think is generally worse than visible texture streaming. I'll look into improvements in future versions, but the game engine might be the limiting factor here.
This is amazing, thank you so much. This feels like the last significant functionality mod that ME1 was missing, and I'm kinda low-key mourning the amount of time I spent playing the game without it!
Would it feasible to have instant previews whilst scrolling through the list? (also +1 for having an option to put the vanilla armors in a sub-menu)
Vanilla options in a submenu is coming in the next update. I just need to iron out a couple wrinkles with other things I am changing.
It would be possible to have a preview as you select each outfit without actually applying it, but there is enough of a delay in rendering the new outfit that it would noticeably slow down scrolling, especially on controller when you have no way to skip past options you are not interested in. Maybe I would consider it more if I could optimize things to be faster to load in the new outfit, but I think a lot of that is out of my hands.
Also, even if it was faster, I have future plans for this mod similar to AMM LE3 for face customization, and some of the options for that can be applied repeatedly, such as changing a face shape slider beyond the normal range. It could be a fairly confusing UX to have some options preview when you hover over them and some not. I am going to stick with the current system of applying items manually, at least for now, but I'll consider changing/adding more options in the future.
Love the mod!! When you say customise other NPC does that mean we'll be able to put visors on NPC's like put Garrus' visor on Chellick? Or even the council members?
Outfit features are not currently planned for LE2, as it already has an outfit system for Shepard and squad, though I'm not ruling it out. The vanilla outfit system is certainly not as flexible as what I've built with this mod. My first priority is face customization for Shepard, similar to AMM LE3, for LE1 and LE2. That said, AMM LE2 with face customization is in development. no ETA I can share at the moment.
ADMIRAL HACKETT: "Commander, this is one hell of a mod. The chemistry it provides with other mod authors is the highlight. You should be proud. Hackett out."
Awesome work Dropthesquid, fantastic mod. I have noticed some odd behavour accessing the appearance menu, not sure if its just me or what.
First my setup, I'm using the default setting for how to access the appearance menu and am using an xbox controller
1. I noticed the appearance menu in the equipment screen is not present until i go to modify the equipped armor on any of the squad and then it appears. Is this expected? Accessing it via the locker on the normandy works fine.
2. When it does appear after moddifying an armor, it has no controller shortcut. I would expect it to be accessible via the xbox view button, which is how it works when accessing the menu via the locker on the normandy.
Hmm, I'll have to investigate this. The intended behavior is that if you leave the setting default, it is only accessible via the squad lockers, when it is launched automatically before the prologue, and via the terminal in the captain's cabins if you have LE1DP installed. If that setting is left on the default and you can access it at all from the equipment screen from the pause menu or i hotkey, that is a bug, though it doesn't sound like a very major one. I'll see if I can reproduce this behavior and then look into fixing it soon. Thanks for the report.
