1) I apologize for the pictures not being consistent. Shepard doesn't stay still and there aren't any ways to save my settings in photo mode.
2) I'm AWFUL at math! Some things might say + when they should be -, because I often get confused about subtracting from negatives and whatnot. Also, every Shepard will have different numbers, some negatives and some positives that weren't in my particular set of codes. You may find the - and + will be opposite to my pictures.
3) The way I edit my Shep in 'real time', as in not having to open and close the whole game each time I make a change, is included in the txt file in the download, as well as in the Docs tab here.
4) For some incredibly helpful tutorials on colors, textures, and switching things up in the editor, check out this mod's info by Vandri (and wonderful headmorphs!), hair replacements and basic tweaks by ELE08, and this very useful guide on how to get your Shepard looking like...well, your Shepard in ME3 by Sage!
Oh I'm so happy it helps! Thank you for taking the time to comment, I'm so pleased to have saved anyone some time so they can enjoy playing the game ^_^
It's been a while since I've dived into this, but I believe you can't change the position of the nose in that way. The best thing you could do is choose a nose in character creation that is around the length you'd like and then change the width and length, etc. You could also slightly raise the mouth and then chin to help the appearance of a shorter nose.
bless you!!! this is the most clear instruction on how to use the damned x/y/z axis. I could make sens of them because they acted differently on different parts of head and I couldn't make sense of it. all the written instructions were unclear and messy too! these pics are perfect reference. I could hug you!! :)
I'm so glad they're useful!!! I plan on eventually making a better version with clearer pictures and whatnot, when I have the energy to do so, but I'm still so happy that it's doing it's job regardless! I hope you're making the Shep of your dreams~ Thank you for the sweet comment xx
Id did minor alterations to her facial because I found you really need to be gentle with these numbers hehe. But I managed to fix some features that were off in vanilla and also fix her uneven eyes and crazy irises and she doesn't look weirdly down the whole time, or look cross-eyed anymore so I'm happy :)
That was a huge problem I saw a lot of people go through and yeah, it's nice to fix the derpy look while still getting the nice, bigger eyes! Little things like that bother me too, especially if I'm going to look at my character for 3 games, so I'm glad you got her how you wanted her and you can enjoy cutscenes without wishing she'd actually LOOK at someone instead of her nose :P
Hey we didn't talk since last year but I was wondering if you maybe know answer to this. I took a break for gaming.. so only now going into third game. I was wondering.. if I did facial tweeks in save editor like this on my Shep in MELE2, when I import her in MELE3, will all these tweaks from savefile import as well.. or will I have to redo her plastic surgery in next game lol? I know the appearance code transfers but not sure about these save editor changes....
Hey there! It's been a while since I've delved into exploding bones in Mass Effect as well, so I'll try to remember what worked (and I plan on revising and updating this info when I get back into playing MELE :P) Anyway, I believe that the changes from Mass Effect 1 and 2 to 3 are pretty drastic, enough that maybe copying and pasting your old codes into the editor might not be enough. So, what I would do is screenshot or write down what I've messed with (vectors, scalars, morphs) from games 1 and 2...and I think the appearance code for 3 is a bit busted, ie: Eye Shape 1 in the in game character creator might not really be the same shape in ME3 (No one knows why they did this, but it was in the original Mass Effect games too) so your Shep could be looking MIGHTY different even with her regular code. This post explaining how to get your Shep back to her old self via gibbed (original Save Editor) is a pretty good guide on how to do the same in our current save game editor. So import your Shep into 3, and then maybe give her a little plastic surgery in game first; mess with the sliders to get as close to her look as possible, change anything that seems off, and THEN go into the save editor (after your first save) and mess with the bones and change the colors of things (most of your changes from 1 and 2 should work/translate to 3, or at least provide a good starting point!) I hope this makes sense and helps at all, let me know if you need anything clarified and I'll try again! Good luck! xx
Hey thanx for your answer. and I understand. yeah I was hoping it will be simple but kind of knew it wouldn't be lol! Luckily I am paranoid from experience of using other mods so I actually copied the face codes I changed a year ago cuz I wouldn't remember now what the hell I tweaked by now :) thanx I guess there will be another plastic surgery time again than :)
Every time I read "save editor" for Mass Effect all I can think of is "Truck Shepard Truck Shepard Truck Shepard" so your description made me laugh.
Thank you for this guide. I got a PC just before ME:LE released so I can finally enjoy modding a Shepard that isn't a carbon copy of all of my past Sheps, but the save editor has been a bit overwhelming for me. This helps a lot!
^_^ I'm so happy that someone caught that, because I couldn't stop thinking about it either while making this. Some of the sliders really DO insane things you'd never need to do and I included them anyway but I was like...hey, maybe someone DOES want a Truck Shepard. Who am I to judge. :P I'm in the same boat! I played the Mass Effect games mostly on my XBox when they came out and now I'm so addicted to mods as someone who plays mostly on computers (and also really weird about getting my characters 'perfect' for what they are in my head) that I need to make this at least for my own sake (it took DAYS). So I'm stoked that anyone else can use it too! Good luck, and I hope you post pics to the Nexus when you've finally created your perfect Shep! xx
This was my problem too! So many options for 'upper lip'...happy it can help! (I need to keep looking at it too, I don't think I'll ever be able to memorize all those 'bones')
I kept meaning to try to mess with the save editor and this finally gave me the courage to do so. Finally got a Shep that looks more like what I want. Thanks your guide was incredibly helpful!!
Oh I'm so glad!!! It is a lot of numbers and codes and I couldn't figure out half of it myself. I'm a visual person :) So happy to hear that it helped!
