If you experience problems you need give me a detailed description of the problem and you need to post a log and diag and upload a save as shown in the gif below.
I cannot help you if you do not do this. Telling me what mods you installed, or posting screenshots of your mod library, aren't helpful. Posting a log and diag is very helpful. Please do that.
I am past the Collector ship and have done all of the loyalty missions, yet Legion's loyalty mission has still not been triggered in the manner you describe. I did see the new interaction with him just before boarding the Collector ship, but he was absent in the debrief. I have exhausted every conversation with him as well.
Will his loyalty mission be unlocked after the Reaper IFF mission like in the normal game, or am I locked out of it forever? If that is the case, I suppose I could use the Save Editor to make him loyal. I hate that it doesn't give you the ability to simply activate loyalty missions. I think that is one feature that they overlooked.
Here is the link to my log. You'll notice that I do have texture mods installed (some of which I disabled because I didn't care for them), which would make installing the updated version difficult to impossible.
as the mod description explains, legion's loyalty mission isn't supposed to trigger before you do the reaper IFF. it wouldn't make any sense for it to do so because he needs data from the reaper's data core to understand and trace the heretic virus. legion's loyalty mission is intertwined with the main plot in this regard so you can't just trigger it whenever without creating a plot hole.
the debrief after the collector ship mission isn't when he tells you about his loyalty mission, it's the point at which he asks to be brought to the reaper IFF mission. it's narratively important to explain his interest in it so his loyalty mission doesn't come out of nowhere.
you say that legion was missing from the collector ship mission debrief. i can't immediately see anything in your log that would explain this. but you also say you got the new interaction with him before boarding the collector ship and i don't know what you mean by that. i don't add a new interaction before boarding the collector ship. and without a save i can't tell where you are in the game, or what plot data could potentially have messed up legion appearing.
this shouldn't impact his loyalty conversation unlocking as intended after the IFF mission. but as i said, i can't tell whether there's actually a problem here or just a miscommunication due to the above.
please clarify what you mean by the new interaction, and provide a save file.
I am unable to ask Liara about Thane or Samara. There is no option dialog option to ask her and I am unable to talk to either if the NPCs to enter the missions. This seems to be a similar problem to what DwithP was having though I have been playing in English from the beginning. I am going to try restoring the game from a backup. Any assistance you could provide would be appreciated.
thanks for providing a log. you installed optional flirting mod without the patch for early recruitment (probably because you installed it before early recruitment and i think it tries to autodetect it on install). during liara's conversation on illium, and during one of the conversations on horizon, optional flirting mod overrides early recruitment. without a patch, you will not get early recruitment's content in those places.
you lack access to the same file as the other user who experiences a similar problem (the english language dialogue file for liara's office conversation). but you lack access for a different reason. in your case, it's being overridden by an unpatched optional flirting mod file. in the other user's case, because the english language files weren't being loaded as they were playing in another language.
because you have installed textures you cannot reinstall optional flirting mod safely to get the patch. your options are:
1) temporarily disable optional flirting mod (via manage target in mod manager) for the conversation in liara's office, then re-enable it once you're done. you also need to disable optional flirting mod for the horizon mission if you take this route.
2) restore from backup and reinstall in the correct order so you get the correct patches. if you're restoring from a backup made with mod manager, then great no problem. but as a general warning, do not verify your files with steam or ea app. this won't remove all modded files and won't give you a clean installation. similarly uninstalling via those apps only removes vanilla files. the safe options are to either restore from an me3tweaks mod manager backup or to manually delete your installation folder, then redownload.
you're using mod manager 9.0. installation instructions explain that early recruitment version 2.1 requires mod manager 9.0.1. you should be able to get it by enabling updates in mod manager and it will offer to update for you next time you start mod manager. you might have to enable beta updates.
if you can't get that working or don't want to, you can download version 2.0.5 from the downloads section instead. there is no difference in terms of mod content in the game. the only difference between 2.0.5 and 2.1 was updating to a more user-friendly installation method, which the new mod manager supports.
if you use early recruitment 2.0.5 you will need to manually select patches so will need to be more careful on install.
Thanks! Had the same problem, and I can't really update the ME3Tweaks since I am on Linux and doing so risks breaking a very delicate balance between WINE and Proton. Using the 2.0.5 fixed it perfectly.
I wanted to check out early recruitment after countless runs in vanilla for some new dialogue experiences but I'm facing the issue that Liara does not offer the dialogue boxes for neither Thane nor Samara on the first visit to Illium. I also checked if they may appear after some other recruitments like Grunt, Jack o.e. but it always stays missing and I can't proceed with Thane a/o Samara.
I tried some thing in first step but I'm quite new to using mods and I checked similar posts beforehand but non of them or the troubleshooting taken helped me in this case. - reinstalled the vanilla game and afterwards only installed ULE2 patch + Recruitment mod - started several new games with imported or new characters - no not compatible mods are installed as per my knowledge
However Liara is always missing the location dialogue for Thane and Samara. Here's my log and a current savefile.
hey there - i can't see anything immediately wrong, and i can't replicate the issue when using your save. but i do notice that your computer is set to german. are you playing the games with german audio? if so then the mod will not work correctly. i have german text translation, so if you play the game in english with german subtitles, this is supported. but i do not support german audio for this mod (because not all of the mod content is restored vanilla lines, on horizon and for the legion portion, it is a lot of borrowed and spliced dialogue and i can't create that/make sure it makes sense in context for four languages i can't speak).
Indeed, the language was the issue. Thanks so much! Creating new launch option with german text and english voiceover fixed it :) Awesome, thanks again!
early recruitment has open patch permissions so the dev for spectre is able to create compatibility and has indicated that they would like to at some point when the mod is out of alpha. i don't think there's any timeline for that.
Thanks to this mod I can take Legion to all the early quests, they gave him so many lines! And Tali also has a lot of dialogue on Horizon, even interacts with Kaidan/Ashley! Don't understand why Bioware didn't fix it in the LE version.
obviously i like having them early because i made this mod, so i agree it's a shame that content isn't available more easily to all players. but i do understand why they didn't change things for legendary edition. it was a remaster, not a reboot or a full remake. changing something like this changes the flow of the game quite a lot. they'd have to make editorial decisions like when to trigger horizon. my solution effectively allows you to use mordin's recruitment as a softlock on that ambush mission which was obviously not the goal from a game design perspective. so then do you force characters into recruiting mordin at a certain point? the questions spiral. and for each person who is happy to get the extra content, you'll get someone upset they changed a classic, or who feels the amount of recruitment options is overwhelming.
That's true. In order to take Tali to Horizon, I did postpone recruiting Mordin according to your instructions. For some players, it must be painful to unlock the lab so late. The community is so lucky to have mod authors like you! Give everyone a choice! Thank you so much.
since you didn't read the troubleshooting section, or the very short pinned post, where i plead with people to submit a log + diag because it's what i need to help you with stuff like this, i'm going to guess you also didn't read the installation instructions and you probably have a mod conflict.
i can't tell you for sure, though, without a log + diag, and save, as explained in the pinned post.
well to be fair i have no idea, mby some mods just broke it. i done horison mission and her reqruit mission still dnt appear. kinda sad bcs i download this mode bcs i wanna play with her since start of the game. so i unlock her with save editor, i hope i dnt break it more
oh i fix it! i read some old messages, so it was normandy project who broke it. so i 1st reinstalled Earl Req and then i reinstalled Norm Proj and Tali mission is now showing in map)
i could have told you DAYS AGO that the problem was the normandy project if you'd followed my instructions and provided a log/diag like i asked.
me: please give me a log and diagnostic and i can help if there are problems.
you: i have a problem.
me: cool but like i said i need a log and diagnostic. then i'll be able to work out the problem quickly.
you: i've decided to save edit instead! will it break stuff?
you: oh, i read some other posts and worked out the problem. i can read, i just chose not to give you the one thing you kept asking for.
me: so you wasted both our time, and broke your own save. nice.
anyway, your save will probably break tali's recruitment mission somehow. if it'll break anything else i don't know and don't care, i'm not helping further, it's clearly useless.
Hey! I wanted to make sure I cleared something up that was confusing me before I send a log + diag and ask for help for a problem that doesn't exist.
For Tali's mission to show up you mentioned "Tali's recruitment mission will unlock after completing 2 recruitment/loyalty missions" I completed three recruitment missions [Kasumi, Legion, and Zaeed] but Tali's hasn't unlocked.
I was hoping to get clarification on if "completing 2 recruitment/loyalty missions" meant "Complete 2 Recruitment AND Loyalty Missions" or "Complete 2 Recruitments OR 1 Recruitment and 1 Loyalty"
Just wanted to check before I start troubleshooting in case there's no problem and I just need to do 2 loyalties on top of the 2 recruitments. I made sure to follow the instructions on what mods to install before/after so that's why I figure I'd ask before sending logs. Thank you!
Edit: Adding this in case others have the same problem as me, I just saw the "Legion's recruitment does not count towards the mission count just like Zaeed and Kasumi's" sentence. I guess because it wasn't explicitly stated "recruiting Zaeed and Kasumi doesn't count towards Tali/Horizon" my goopy goblin brain assumed that it would and ignored the implication of "they don't have recruitment missions" to mean "recruiting them doesn't count towards Tali/Horizon" I can recruit Thane and Samara and Legion so I assume everything is working as intended.
hey there, you are correct that picking up legion, zaeed and kasumi do not count as a "recruitment" mission. this is explicitly stated on the mod description page.
under the classic module description bullet points, after both the tali recruitment and horizon triggering lines, there is an asterisk. that asterisk further down, explicitly clarifies that zaeed and kasumi don't have recruitment missions, but that their loyalty missions do count towards the unlock requirements for tali and horizon. i did that via asterisk not in the bullet point itself to avoid a sentence so long and convoluted people would zone out of it.
i'm guessing the fact that explanatory paragraph references horizon in a different context (in order to explain that i'm not changing the vanilla timing of loyalty missions), is what threw you? but i pretty much have to do this, because otherwise, people absolutely see "oh loyalty missions count!" and assume i'm triggering those early too.
i appreciate that the mod comes with a lot of text and description and it's easy to skip on stuff or keep it in mind when it's not a mod you're familiar with. i'm not trying to be a jerk about it. i just feel it's worth noting that this is clearly explained in the description to the best of my ability.
for your situation, if your plan was to recruit tali as soon as possible so she could come on all vanilla recruitment missions, then i suggest doing zaeed and kasumi's loyalty missions which will fulfil that unlock criteria for you.
to be explicitly clear, the following each contribute 1 point towards the 2 point minimum you need to unlock tali's recruitment mission:
if tali's mission doesn't unlock at that point you may have a mod conflict (this is another common issue as you may see on this page) and if so post a log/diag and save and i will probably be able to identify the issue quickly.
Like I said in my edit to the original post I just personally got messed up reading the asterisk, when I read "Kasumi and Zaeed do not have recruitment missions" my assumption when reading was that you meant they literally don't have missions to recruit them alla Dossier: Archangel and so on. But that recruiting them would still count towards the Recruitment/Loyalty tally. When I read the next line about Legion that specified "Legion's recruitment is classified as a pick up location, not a mission and thus won't count towards a recruitment mission. Just like Kasumi and Zaeed" That's when it clicked and I realized my misunderstanding. I think I focused on the sentence attached to the asterisk I assumed the one under it wasn't connected to it until I was reading through the entire description to see if I was missing something lol.
I just finished Zaeed and Kasumi's loyalty missions and Tali's recruitment unlocked, no log/diag needed to send. Thank you very much for the mod, I only recently learned about the amount of cut dialogue with the post-horizon recruits and it's the entire reason I began yet another playthrough of the trilogy. I only hope I wasn't much of a nuisance.
Thank you as well for the clarification on what you meant by "Complete 2 Loyalty/Recruitment Missions"
no, no worries at all - happy to clarify and i hope you enjoy your playthrough with all the extra dialogue. it's not a massive amount but it's fun and immersive, in my opinion, and fun to experience for the first time. i'd definitely recommend taking tali to horizon though (samara, thane and legion don't have vanilla audio there). for the rest, take whoever you like, but if you take two early recruits you're guaranteed to get new dialogue. otherwise the person who gets comment priority is kinda arbitrary. so like, if you take garrus and tali to recruit jack, there's no guarantee you'll get tali's lines instead of garrus'. it'll just depend how they set up that conversation.
This was fantastic. I downloaded this as part of a "lore appropriate" collection without reading anything too closely because it was my first playthrough. Adding the Legion restructure is so good. I appreciate the work done here immensely.
thanks i'm glad you enjoyed it! i'll be honest i don't usually suggest it as a first playthrough mod because it changes quite a bit from canon, but i'm really happy to know it improved your game experience!

Well, good, that means I'm safe. Thank you for your reply and sorry for the misunderstanding.

you lack access to the same file as the other user who experiences a similar problem (the english language dialogue file for liara's office conversation). but you lack access for a different reason. in your case, it's being overridden by an unpatched optional flirting mod file. in the other user's case, because the english language files weren't being loaded as they were playing in another language.
because you have installed textures you cannot reinstall optional flirting mod safely to get the patch. your options are:
When I unzip mod manually, ME3Tweaks simply cannot see it regardless of refreshing.
How to fix it?
if you can't get that working or don't want to, you can download version 2.0.5 from the downloads section instead. there is no difference in terms of mod content in the game. the only difference between 2.0.5 and 2.1 was updating to a more user-friendly installation method, which the new mod manager supports.
if you use early recruitment 2.0.5 you will need to manually select patches so will need to be more careful on install.

can you confirm what language you're playing in?
Yes I play with german audio.
It didn't come to my mind, that the language might cause the issue :D
I'll try with english audio and let you know
Creating new launch option with german text and english voiceover fixed it :)
Awesome, thanks again!
i hope you enjoy your extra time with legion!
fortunately: mods! :D
