I feel like adding a modifier in the settings for how fast jumpjets climb in the Z axis? I think that would be the last part of this to make the jumpjets pretty damn modifiable with this mod alone, not sure how technically difficult it is.
Hey, loving the mod (and how it doesn't also apply to the NPC mechs) but I'm having two minor issues.
1. I've put the jumpjet regen time to its fastest, (2.5) and it doesn't work for me. I went into an Instant Action, it didn't work, reloaded the mission and it worked, reloaded again, and it didn't work. that is the only time it has worked (the really fast JJ regen). It never works in co-op. I've tried slightly altering it, applying, and that still didn't work. (its got a load order of 100 so I don't think anything else is affecting it).
2. Sometimes in a co-op mission side-ways movement doesn't work. It does if I hold left or right, then press the JJ button, but if I try to change direction at any point when I'm airborne it won't work. (tried tapping, letting go etc). Restarting the mission usually fixes this though.
I think I've got quite good at flying around with these new JJ's and I'm loving them.
Either way, thanks for creating and uploading this mod :)
I use a joystick on the left to move my mech forward/back and turn. Can wait for an update the binds the jump jets to my stick axis. Thanks again for all the work you do!
Working on updating the mod with an option to change the jump jet burn time for the player only. That way you can get more use out of the advanced jump jets without screwing up the AI jump jet usage.
I have 50 mods installed, going through my second career, and this mod is the only one I wouldn't play the game without. Absolutely essential. Thank you very much for making it.
How difficult would it be to have the jump jets controlled by the direction you're aiming? I've always thought it would an intuitive way of controlling JJs, and give you control over height vs distance.
Posted an update today that has some enhancements based on feedback. I added options for how much momentum the mech carries when you let go of the directional keys. I also added a suppress throttle if you don't want your throttle moving around and the mech to have its throttle set to 0 at landing.
anybody who installed and used it can explain how it works? like if i push a button my mech will stop rotating in air and strafe or idit some toogle? any help/video gladly appreciated
When you activate jump jets, you hold the left/right/throttle increase/throttle decrease button to go left/right/forward/backward. When you release the jump jet, you can still move a little bit in those directions but it won't be as much as when you have the jump jets active. Once you land, control is reverted back to standard. If you using keyboard, its your WSAD key, you will control like a FPS.
This video is old but it shows how they work, without the leaning though since that requires a lot of assets to be fixed up. This was an original feature of MercTech V3, I ported it over to work with stock and any other mods.
