The new version brings new looks, (hopefully for everyone) notable better performance across the board, and new biomes!
Important note: Do not override vonBiomes with other mods in general if you do not want to lose all environment and weather add-ons in the mod pack. This includes a whole lighting system with tons of sky bodies, dynamic lighting based on planet orbits, weather effects and (much) more.
Incompatible Mods: For all Lighting & Environment FX: - Ultravisuals & Weather (UVW) + any Mods requiring UVW - Enhanced Lighting Mod - Simple Enhanced Environment (Steam, also a lighting mod)
For all Foliage and Maps - Xeno Optimize & Foliage - Topo Map (can cause holes in the ground)
Mod Setting requirements: * Advice is to disable all conflicting mods in your mod list * Turn off Raytracing (on RTX cards) if performance is low. * Install the "Mod Options" Mod from the Nexus for.. well .. mod options! Change the ambient volume or enable volumetric lighting, GI and more advnaced settings & effects! Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/mechwarrior5mercenaries/mods/537
New Biome: from v19 Early Acces on Patreon: Xeno Jungle New Biome: Shrub Desert Biome change: Deep Desert Early Access Biome: Agriculture Lands on Patreon Lighting extensions & fine-tuning Lighting, Global Illumination (GI), Volumetric Fog and many more aspects of the Weather and Environment visuals have been fine-tuned, improved and vonBiomes brings a more advanced look than before. Have a look at the mod options, on a modern card, you can enable all extensions. (Global Illumination, Volumetric Fog, High-Quality Shadows, and leave Volumetric Clouds on).
On a 2070S card or equivalent, I disable the add-ons except Volumetric Clouds (standard setting). Everything has been tested to run on around ~50- 60 FPS on the 2070S in 4K and maximum details. And even without Global Illumination, etc, it looks quite good.
Quick note: Be sure that no other mod is overriding vonBiomes to get everything from the mod, otherwise (especially with other weather mods) this part of vonBiomes gets removed from the game.
There has been a major Update to the Space Port City Biome in Early Access with tons of new things, fleshed-out tiles, overlords, more crazy billboard designs, more destruction and smoke, more assets, new streetlights, large buildings, and even moooore. So I want to take this opportunity to share the happy news and progress! If you can, support the Mod work with some monthly beer, pizza, or coffee - this is what allows putting so many hours into everything and gives you some extra content and love.

This mod breaks the mission Those In Need and the four hatchetmen that are supposed to spawn never do. They are only locatable on the top-down map from (i actually dont remember which mod, something from yaml maybe) but they are not actually in position when you go there on the map. I'm pretty sure theres a few other missions that pop up after this one, so its very frustrating.
- Framerate issue on 70% of the maps - Some maps makes npc spawn on innaccessible places which makes those mission impossible to complete - Lot of maps has gaps where npcs and youself can get stuck in
Heck, I decided to uninstall vonBiomes and started a new save. Performance went through the roof. Like, we're talking stable 100+ FPS. With vonBiomes, I was struggling to maintain 20 in some cases. And that's with a bloody 4090 and 13th gen i7.
I don't know what this mod does to slaughter framerates like this, but until it is fixed, I highly recommend everyone, from toaster to NASA computer, to avoid this mod like the plague.
I'm getting great performance with my 4070 no issues, fps stays at a good bit even in max settings. However.... my lance mates constantly get stuck on something and can't pathfind around it so I end up realizing I only have 3 mechs and the 4th one is missing and having to backtrack.
Totally agree, the maps are not graphically optimized. A 14th gen with 4090 shouldn't be struggling this hard on the FPS. This is the only games I have that makes ALL 3 fans on my card to start churning away. Hope this gets fixed because I love the visuals. Good Luck.
Yeah, it feels like somebody isnt even testing those maps in combat conditions too. Really wish this wouldnt be a requirement for his Solaris mod. Its the same with Coyote's - feels like those two authors just make stuff and dont test it.
The lighting and weather this mod adds feels pretty bad too. I'd prefer vanilla even. Wish it was just an optional module so we could use UVW. The mods seem almost compatible anyway if not for lighting flashbanging me.
Does anyone know if theres versions of vonbiomes that didn't have the lightning and weathers yet? I'd be willing to have fewer biomes if it means less bloat and more compatibility.
Global Illumination drops the frame rate by 60% RTX drops the framerate by 50% However... RTX + Global Illumination strangely increases the framerate almost back to non-GI levels, even with volumetric fog and HQ shadows "tooggled" on
This is on a RTX4070 - FWIW to whoever is experiencing low FRs
In the HOMAN system in the territory of House Kurita on the planet Homan III in the mission ‘Defense Support Pt.2’ House Davion ice map is bugged. The turrets are under the ice and cannot be destroyed, the way to the upper shelves is blocked and the evacuation is on top and it is impossible to finish the mission.
This will allow the user to modify settings/parameters of other supported mods as well.
Here are the settings to check if you are experiencing performance issues or do not want lightning flashes: https://www.nexusmods.com/mechwarrior5mercenaries/images/190
P.S. Once you set your desired settings, you may disable the mod from the title screen, (unless you need to change something again or you update your mods) the settings will be retainedunder normal circumstances. This provides a bit of a performance bump vs always enabled, if needed.
Hello, i have find the solution for frame rate ( my rtx option was on ) but io have a big big issue.... No evac point after the mission in the beginning of the campaign ( kill anders williams )... After the death of the target no evac point spawn... I have miss somthing?

This is very VERY poorly optimized OR he just kept adding light stuff and that made the performance hit.
Really wish this wouldnt be a requirement for his Solaris mod.

Qucky question, is it possible for you to add in living creatures to a biome, such as dinosaurs or other weird living things?
Some sort of huge monster that everyone on a mission had to attack would be a kick!
Thanks!
is there a way to exclude some maps?
A selector for maps in the mod options would be fantastic.
EDIT:
"Coyotes Mission Pack And Mission Overhaul" mod add a selector for the maps :)
The "mod options" mod is needed to change this mod's settings, it can be found here:

I wonder if it would be possible to have the vonBiomes trees not throw sparks on collusion?
