FEATURES IN PROGRESS : Custom Commander Start - new menu to allow quirk selection for commanders at game start. Will also enable commander to undergo training allowing the improvement of the selected quirks as game progresses. quirk selection will be limited to base quirks. might change this up to enable the selection of negative quirks as well, as an offset to allow higher tier quirk selection early on. not sure on that yet. Pilot Age Mechanics - Assigns pilot age during generation, and tracks it as player goes on. Skills degrade passed retirement age. Pilot Retirement Mechanics - Older pilots may want to retire, Give players the option to retire a pilot. Pilot Retirement Mod Option - Enable/ Disable negative affects of using pilots passed retirement age. Pilot Retirement Age Mod Option - customize the retirement age for pilots. Pilot Skill System to replace Quirks - Will using modifier quirks as opposed to skill cap quirks. Pilot Class system - Will be used to determine which skill tree is available to the Pilot
FUTURE FEATURES UNDER CONSIDERATION: Sort options for pilot deployment - add filters or sort options for pilots when deploying to make it easier to select appropriate pilots, by skill, total rank, etc..( not sure this has value now with the slot fix for pilots) Pilot Loyalty Mechanics - Pilots would have loyalty to the company. Affected by various elements. Pilot Faction Loyalty Mechanics - Pilots would have loyalty to factions. Performance is degraded against factions they affiliate with. Unlock commander - let commander operate as a normal pilot, but not be dismissed Add pilot customizer- let players change pilots names, bio, and portrait, including for commander (requires the above) Deploy Injured Pilots- add ability to deploy injured pilots in PilotFatigue Mod. Pilots receive stat penalty and chance of death. penalty and chance of death will be based on pilot skill and severity of injury. i.e. 30 days injury time vs 10 days injury time. etc.... Enable Pilot voice selection -add new customization option in the pilot customization menu for the AI voice. Implement pilot stats - add details page to Barracks for pilots showing various stats i.e. Air kills, turret kills, days and missions since employment, total damage received, total damage received in Cbills, number of incapacitations, injuries, and training sessions. number of mech chassis piloted, and a separate set of stats for each mech chassis, per pilot, etc... Pilot Immersion - add 30-60 new voices for pilots with voiced callsigns, pilots randomly assigned callsigns giving players unique characters to play with. (Thanks to MagnumGB showing me how I can do this, it is now back on the list!) Implement mech based affinity - more missions with a mech chassis (not model) increases capabilities with that mech. Mod Options - Enable options for players to tweak their gameplay experience. Pilot History Tab- new menu in barracks to show dead, retired, resigned(maybe?), dismissed, or MIA pilots. Pilot MIA Status - new Status for pilots who eject in combat, but don't return.
CURRENT WARNINGS: Conflicts likely with any mods that modify: DropPreperationWidget - mods which remove tonnage limits (like Merctech ) are currently conflicting. DefaultGameStat - mods which modify this file will conflict in loading their assets. (like Merctech) PilotGrowth PilotInjuryHandler Various UI elements within the Barracks, post drop mission status, and deployment screens.
A quick guide for those who don't know, regarding known issues with Pilot Overhaul
Adder - Adder's second mission is broken. It doesn't spawn, and it never has spawned. Just assign his portrait, name and voice to a regular pilot and call it a day. Bulwark - One of his two missions is an exploration mission, so you need Coyotes Mission Mod to access his second mission. Otherwise do as you would for Adder. Mist & Hail - These two have missions in periphery conflict zones. In career, these zones are always present, so there is no issue, but with campaign, you need to complete the main storyline to get these zones to appear and make these pilots available.
Crashes - Make sure you are running MW5 Compatibility pack. Instant Action Mech Weights - These don't always display properly. This is a known Pilot Overhaul bug. Pilot Affinity - some mods, including undertonnage bonus 2, make this not display due to a minor incompatibility. Pilot Skills - Weird things apparently happen when pilot skills get up around the 19/20 mark, so avoid level-ling them up that far. Updates - The mod author has a discord, and has ostensibly been working on a rebuild of the mod (Pilot Overhaul 2) but is extremely uncommunicative, only having posted about it a handful of times. Pilot Overhaul 2 might appear one day, or the mod may essentially be abandoned. Without access to the source code, no one can take over the mod or fork it.
Just wondering if you'd be willing to make a version without all the extra pilots (just vanilla ones) if not no worries it's just the blurry portraits are irking my ocd, great mod tho =) nice work
This has been a must-have mod for me for years, but sadly, on my current playthrough, it's been nothing but a headache. Really wish it would get an update.
Yep. That was the last straw on this mod for me. That is a game breaking bug and it's not the only one this mod causes. Unfortunately, as awesome as this mod is, the bugs it has just aren't worth the frustration for me and it seems like this mod has been abandoned.

I was wondering if there was a plan to make it so that you can retrain positive quirks into other ones to further customize pilots, as an option for players to spen extra c-bills and time.
I'm watching a friend play now and I'm so f*#@ing happy! Thank you for letting me add my voice into this awesome mod! We hear my voice but we're not seeing my portrait yet, so I'm wondering if it's in there or not. If you send me a few examples I can match the style myself and send that over if you'd like!
Anyone have some idea why motivation training is adding quirks? I thought it was supposed to simply add a free slot, not randomly generate a quirk. Is there possibly a mod option I foolishly toggled that makes motivation training give random pilot quirks? Could it be a conflict with another mod?
